  1. I finished Okami last week. All the complaints I mentioned before still stand. Brush controls were slightly annoying to use, but definitely a novel gameplay element. However, unreliable enough that I will not bother getting the platinum trophy (the description of the demon gate trials scared me off). Glacial pace of the dialogue text (along with horrible "voices") also hurt my impression of the game. Had fun with it overall, but it was maybe too long. Probably a 7/10 game for me.

Played some Catlateral Damage over the weekend. Play as a cat and knock over as many objects as possible. Features a dedicated meow button. It's a dumb game great for a crazy cat lady. The big problem for me is that it is first person. After maybe 15 minutes my stomach gets painful/queasy, and it gets worse the longer I play. I've experienced this before while playing The Unfinished Swan (also first person) and Grow Home (not first person but maybe the extreme heights and/or weird camera affected me)..

Started Divinity: Original Sin and played for a couple of hours. Wow this game. Already died due to my AI companion stepping on an obvious trap X_X It's a little awkward to play with a controller, but at least the combat is turn-based so I can take my time fumbling around. Anyway the dialogue is funny at times... one thing to mention.. you have to make 2 "main" characters, so I made one who's supposed to be a Harley Quinn-esque psycho, and the other is.. well, supposed to be closer to my actual personality. So you can make dialogue choices for both of them, and based on what I want them to be, they're gonna disagree on some stuff. But if they disagree, I have to do this dumb rock-paper-scissors minigame to figure out who wins, so I ended up just making them agree all the time. I guess that stuff works better in co-op.

    彼は死に、彼女は消えた。
    冷たい雨が降り注ぐ、
    長い夜のはじまり。

The title is better translated to "Night / which is the darkness that visits everything equally"

The 3-line description is roughly "He died, she disappeared. The cold rain pours down, the beginning of the long night."

    Seems like classic Temari

why is the name maria so common in songs... unsraw's maria... vanessa's chi[maria]... maria in the lyrics of alejandro... maria in the lyrics of isolated room... d.i.d.'s blindness=maria... mejibray's fallen"maria"... is everybody just really infatuated with maria cross or am i missing something

I have always assumed they're referring to Mary (mother of Jesus). According to Japanese Wikipedia, she's called マリア (Maria) in Japanese.

It could also represent a virgin, or a chaste/virtuous girl, or a motherly figure etc.... Maybe?

    Oh no we're losing her!

The YouTube anime episodes are  mainly about the individuals themselves, so you know their bio beforehand.

    Go watch the film Peffs.

Nvm I'll do you a solid. I'll pm you a torrent to the film in HD.

    lol

    T_T

Fine fine I will watch the anime and film. I was going to watch the film anyway because I'm interested in their achievements in CG. Those screenshots were amazing looking.

Will probably watch them right before I start the game.

idk i listened to their full album 3 times and there was hardly any song that stuck ;< i'm not a fan of their whimsical/carnivalesque songs but i might give the album another go because of what you said :P i'm so glad i bought this mini though.. i really liked it!

While I hope you do change your mind about it, it's totally fine if you still don't like it.

    To each their own :)

  6. They've put out way too many videos/interviews/demos for FFXV. I'm kind of sick of hearing about it. I'm going on media blackout. Not even going to watch the anime or movie until after the game, IF the game leaves a good taste in my mouth.

Does anyone expect FFXV to be amazing game of the year quality?

I fully expect this game to be janky as hell. I will only be disappointed if I end up liking it less than Lightning Returns.

  7. Eh, I'm really used to this microtransaction shit by now. Sadly.

Ubisoft has done this in Assassin's Creed Black Flag/Unity/Syndicate, if my memory is correct. Yes it bothered me to see that stuff in-game, but in the end, none of the stuff purchasable via microtransaction was needed to finish the games.

And I am sure that this kind of thing has happened in MANY recent games.

Re: Deus Ex, this is a statement from Eidos' community manager.

    Quote

We have not, and will never, compromise the balance of the game in order to direct people towards microtransactions. The game was balanced 100 per cent independently of the microtransactions available in the store.

As long as that statement is true, I don't necessarily have a HUGE problem with it. I'd love for this shit to disappear, but the truth is, there are people who will purchase this stuff and make it worthwhile for big publishers to continue forcing it into the games.

Leaked marketing materials have confirmed the existence of the Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection (2/Brotherhood/Revelations) for PS4/XB1. Probably will have slight graphical upgrades. Expected to be 1080p/30fps, release in November, include all DLC + 2 animated films, and sell for less than full price (< $60)

I remember loving the hell out of 2 and Brotherhood. Revelations not so much. But I had borrowed all 3 games, so I wouldn't mind paying for this collection. Eventually. November is kind of a shit time to release this.

Also, where is Rogue for PS4? It's the only major AC game I haven't played, because it was stuck on PS3, and people seem to think highly of it.

  9. They probably picked Insanity Injection (and the horrifying clown face DADAROMA pv) because they wanted to get better reactions.

I doubt the goal was to get them interested in VK. The goal was to get them to make funny faces and make funny comments..

(to that end, I'm more surprised they picked THE INVISIBLE WALL, which is a fairly bog-standard unremarkable GazettE song+pv, IMO)

  10. More stuff I forgot about before

    マジ !?!?!?   or マジ で  !?!??!

    本当に ????

    勘弁してくれよ...

    オイ!

    ぶっ殺してやるぞ !!!

I learned a lot from playing a bunch of Yakuza games in Japanese, so that's why I love "gangsta" phrases/dialect, lol

Unfortunately I can't roll my R's so I can't actually sound super tough IRL..

jealkb will release their new single "reboot" on 2016.11.02 for 1200 yen

    Tracklist:

    1. reboot / 2. by your side / 3. System / 4. A ray of hope

Also worth noting that they have dubbed this phase of their activities "Act2". This CD is their first major release since their June 2014 album.

Vocalist Haderu posted this photo to his instagram on Aug 3, which apparently got people talking about how he suddenly resembles Takanori Nishikawa (TM Revolution). (???) I don't see it...

so where does the money go if one buys a CD from a disbanded band online??? i'm rlly curious because there are a couple CDs i want to buy from disbanded bands. but i want to know if the band members themselves get any of the money

I suspect this depends on the contract the band signs. If they negotiated a good deal, they should continue to get royalties from CD sales (though this is probably a very small percentage). Otherwise, all of the money goes to the record label..

(that's just my theory, based on things i've heard about western entertainment industries. i have zero actual knowledge of how it works in japan..)

They look good but I'm going to miss Riku, still wonder what he did to get kicked out of the band

This is my GUESS, based on those blog posts..

Riku has depression which caused him to miss band activities.  He was either kicked out for that reason, or he dropped out of the band of his own will so he wouldn't be a burden to the others.

(I haven't kept up with their blogs, so let me know if there was more concrete information posted after the initial news broke)

  14. Tales of Berseria is out in Japan now. I've been seeing mostly very positive impressions so far.

Still unsure if I should buy it now/soon or wait for the English version...

If I play it in Japanese, I will only fully understand maybe 50-75% of the dialogue, and it will be more difficult to figure out the various gameplay systems. Also it would cost me ... around $100-115 ??

If I play it in English, I'll have to wait several months, but it will 'only' cost $60-80 depending on how it's priced in Canadian bucks. I'll understand everything but I will do that thing where I'm listening to the Japanese dialogue while reading English subtitles and noticing how they differ. It's actually kind of distracting, lol.
