My dad listened to a lot of Queen and Electric Light Orchestra so I grew up loving these two bands. He also listened to a lot of Korean oldies so people like Lee Moon Sae, Seo Taiji, Jo Ha Moon, and Jo Yung Pil. Strangely, even though I love those groups, I listen to much heavier music. Here's one of my favorites by Lee Moon Sae. It's called "the beginning of the end" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oci4KpDpMu8

It's sounds really nice so far. I like that it's a bit more mellow than The Unraveling. Also, yes to Toshiya's little solo :]

Merry Christmas everyone. Here's a little digital painting. I'm very new at this so any and all feedback is appreciated. Cheers!

I hope this means they'll take a step back to their older style. Not really diggin' their recent releases.

I don't know if the person who listed this priced it wrong, but someone is selling the deluxe edition for pre-order on ebay for 23$ + shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIR-EN-GREY-SUSTAIN-THE-UNTRUTH-JAPAN-CD-DVD-LIMITED-MANUFACTURE-EDITION-K81-/271353990696?&_trksid=p2056016.m2518.l4276 I have a feeling they made a mistake and will change it later but hope this helps!

The album's really grown on me after listening to it for like 2 weeks. Songs I love are: -Malformed Box: I LOVE this intro. Best electronic one they've done so far and it goes into my top, right with the one from Dim and Disorder. -Inside Beast: I think they decently pulled of the electronic rock and I've always, for the most part, loved the female vocals in the GazettE's music. -Devouring One Another: People have been talking about Marilyn Manson influences and I really enjoy it. This track has a kind of cool about it, kind of like My Devil on the Bed. Not an outstanding track but within the context of the album I think it's nice. -Redo: This track is just fun, light, and pretty catchy too. I think that's all this track is supposed to be. -Last Heaven: I agree when people say the GazettE have written much better ballads, but I like the instrumentals. I actually really enjoy Ruki's singing in this song, it's somewhat like how I sing. I like the solo, it's a casual listen, good to go. -Loss: female vocals -In Blossom: This is actually like my 2nd favorite song on the album. I like the heavy intro; it contradicts what you think the song might sound like with no false pretenses, but also leads into the more sober parts of the song without sounding out of place. At least IMO. most people don't seem to think so. What really attracts me is the use of female vocals in the melody. -Karasu: I also really like this track. For me it's a throwback to their more chaotic, frenzy of an album Disorder. Ruki's vocals are actually interesting to me in this one as he sings in that overly dramatic style. I think the chorus could've been better. There isn't enough contrast between that and the pre-chorus so the chorus doesn't really stand out. Kuroku:....I like the part where Ruki starts "rapping" and I actually like the chorus. It's different approach to the typical headbanging song. Dazzling to Darkness: I like the instrumentals, Ruki's vocals are weak. Coda: Self-explanatory, but I think it kinda gets too intense. At that point I think some nicely placed vocals would make it work. I'm not a fan of abrupt endings either, ESpecially for a closer. You just get pulled back into reality to quick. It's like, "songs done, now get back to work" So, I think the songs alone don't hold much impact but to me it's a perfect album. It's a cohesive listen. On a more personal level, the musical style on this album more fits my taste than Division or Toxic. For example, I love the use of female vocals in every song. It's just a quality that I like. But I mean, my favorite album by the GazettE is Disorder. and THEN Dim (Wahht???). I really liked their punk, anti-social, rebel style. I'd give this a 7/10.

I think a good sign is after my initial listen of the album, I went back to listen to Division and found it was much worse than I remember. For the most part, Beautiful Deformity improves upon everything in Division leaving their last album somewhat obsolete, although maybe it's one of those things where without Division (and Toxic) we wouldn't have this latest album. I want to do a more in depth review, but here are some thoughts from my initial listen. Intro - Great lead into the album, nice transition into second track. Inside Beast - Super catchy, chorus is actually not bad, better use of female vocals, great integration of electronics Redo - pretty fun, found myself singing the melody while at work. I...kinda get Do As Infinity vibes from the song..... Karasu - I actually really enjoy the track, I'm reminded a lot of their sound from Disorder, which is one of my favorite albums by them. Kuroku...- Fun rock out track, with some aight melody sections. To Dazzling Darkness - I found this track ultimately underwhelming. I can't say that I really remember it, besides the intro. The album will grow on me within the next few days, but something I can already tell is that these don't feel like completed songs. A lot of the sections within songs sound more like placeholders like "Okay, what if we did this here? We can try something later. Oh wait, the deadline is tomorrow. Let's just roll with it!" That was the same problem with Division; good bits and pieces, but no good wholes. Ruki's vocals are also becoming more and more annoying to me. He seems to just blend everything together with no real distinct melody, which is what annoyed me about "Quiet." Anywho, 5.5/10 for now.

The most distracting part of the PV for me was the use of the cropping effects. They just seemed cheesy. I mean, the PV kept my attention though, so...

I didn't really enjoy the release. Listened through it once, don't really remember the songs, listened to it a second time and I still don't really remember. People have already talked a great deal about the album, but something I do want to re-iterate is the atrocity of Mao's vocals. He's too wild. He's always growling and screeching, and when he's singing it's backed up by more gutturals. Instrumentally the album was uninspiring for the most part and I was greatly reminded of 12012's approach to hardcore music. 4/10

HOLY CRAP I FOUND THE SUPER SECRET HIDDEN PREVIEWS http://www.neowing.co.jp/track_for_cdj.html?KEY=SRCL-8355 via the GazettE Fan's on faeshbook via CDJapan. It looks like the GazettE haven't exactly gotten over their electric kick :/ But I'm actually really digging the previews. I might actually buy the CD.

I'm just not loving the direction they're taking with their music. With songs like "The Requiem" and "madara", It sounds like they're trying to hard too be hardcore or whatever with heavy chugging, gurgling, growling, fast beats, 'intense' melodies, etc. It's too "in your face" for my taste. They've proved they can be dark yet sophisticated with releases like "Gain", "The Trend Killer", heck even "Cold Blood", allowing the listener to feel the tones of their despair, sadness, or whatever they're intending, instead of being bombarded by it.
  14. ghost

Or something like "Red Soil" unplugged. That one's pretty good in my book.
  15. ghost

I just wish they'd spend freaking more than one year on their releases. There was so much potential in Division but they just squandered it. I know less time doesn't always mean lower quality, but the GazettE have been showing that to be true these past few years.

13's Reborn didn't make the cut? jk. Sounds neat.

Aaaaand Screw caught up to using the wubwubs. Overall I'm not impressed. It's too all over the place; the song doesn't know what it wants to be. I'm actually a fan of autotune. When it's used as a tool for nuance rather than a filter to replace your voice. And here Byou just abuses the crap out of it. It doesn't add anything to the music so what is the point of it?

The LE is supposed to be a 3D box and come with either a booklet or photo cards. I wonder if it's worth the the extra 6000Y.
  19. ghost

^like No.47 said its boring and they've played pretty much this style since like duality. the use of autotune is so little or uninteresting that I didn't care. I mean, it's an a-side so something a bit more generic/accessible/ whatever you want to call it is expected I guess.

Another useless release. Gosh, at least do something different.
