This will always be my favorite band, so I am so glad to see a thread devoted to them. 

what in god's name is happening with taiki? the headdress stuff sucks (though ppl outside north america don't have the understanding that's a No No, so it's excusable to an extent) but with the skin tone on the other hand i'm really hoping that's like, unfortunate lighting/overzealous ganguro... eeeeek

I REALLY wanted to get into it but it’s all been done before. Not to mention the vox is not that good and the digital instruments are lacking in every way possible. 
 
Im glad Shinya want to do something different but this isn’t the route to go with his diverse percussion. He could do so much more.

Man, that setlist is super lame.

I imagine you'll be right, although in my case, utafumi will probably feel like just another album track instead of a recycled single. I can only remember the chorus, since I watched the preview vid several times, but I've only listened to the full song once. It's about as memorable as IMMORTALIS. DEG singles just aren't that interesting to me by themselves.
 
I'm also hoping the best-of album is re-recordings. Kind of ridiculous to announce something like this an entire year and a half in advance. I kind of just assumed that they abandoned this project after the "Twitter project" thing from last September.

We're going to get a new System of a Down album and the long awaited sequel to Chinese Democracy called Chinese Democracy 2: Electric Boogaloo before the new X Japan album.

It's quite blatantly obvious at this point that X is merely a cash grab. Yoshiki spends more time licensing and branding sub-par shit than doing any form of music. Selling some re-packaged footage at obscene price points and playing short "dinner shows"  where only elderly businessmen and Yakuza have the economical means to attend seems to be their game these days.
 
Stop embarrassing the name of X Japan any further and disband, please.
