I would say I see a lot of hype around Nocturnal Bloodlust, but that does seem to be dying down a bit as of late. For a while I noticed a lot of fans throw out that they're ~uber deathcore omg~ and that totally makes them so much cooler than every other vk band out there. (this has been a dramatic reenactment, no one was actually hurt...*cough*) Anyway, it's a lot of elitism and serious business and I always got the vibe that was a lot of code talk for the fact that the singer seems to be allergic to shirts. (Which I can totally appreciate. Don't get me wrong.) I won't go into the list of reasons why I don't personally appreciate them but I do think they're overrated and over-hyped. Totally agree about Diaura and Unite., I think they're just bands releasing stuff right now and they have growing loyal fanbases. I don't see anyone going around parading them like they're the best thing since sliced bread.

I love Enter Shikari, but I admit they can be very hit or miss sometimes. I wouldn't be surprised if they got a little influence from ES after touring with them, but I can't really judge from this teaser. Just sounds like a generic build up/intro to something. But I'm excited to hear the rest of the song, and hopefully a cool video to go with it.

Welcome to MH! I'm a pretty big fann of DELUHI, girugamesh, UNiTE., and heidi. as well, though you'll probably see me posting more about non-visual Jrock bands. girugamesh has been a staple in my playlist for a good long while and I don't think I'll be giving them up any time soon. I also feel your pain with some of this summer heat. Florida over here. Bleh.

In This Moment - "Sick Like Me"

Sounds like they've really done a good job of bringing back some sounds from their older records and incorporating them back into their new stuff for this mini. This is great.

Ooooooh, now they seem interesting. Recognize most of these guys and I like the sample.

I seriously don't know what to think about this song. It feels kind of everywhere. So I'm gonna let it sit for a while.... I was so excited for something new from them too... Ugh.

Nothing much really. Just some SiM photo I've liked for a while.

Yeah, that's something you'll pick up with time, and it still sounds good the way you played it so just keep practicing. You're well on your way. Looking forward to more videos!

I was following this yesterday on some Kpop forums. Those poor girls. There's too much death around lately.

Excellent! One of my favorite Diru songs. Sounds like you've got it pretty well. The only minute thing I could even pick out is it sounds like you down pick the entire song. (It's hard to tell in the video so I'm just going by sound) and I don't think Toshiya does, but seriously that's not something I'd worry myself over because it's just a difference in personal style. Keep it up, I'd love to see more Diru covers from this era.

I agree, this song is a bit of a grower. I wasn't crazy about it at first but after hearing the entire song it got its claws into me. lol. I'm still a little meh with the guitar riffs. I'm not sure why... maybe the tone.

Pretty much agree with CAT5 here, the ability to go out and play some songs in a coffee shop or your local rock house, get a label to notice you and make a well paying career out of that (in the US) is a pipe dream. I believe the rock industry is dying. I don't believe, however, that the spirit of rock is dying. Bands are figuring it out on their own more and more these days, and with iTunes, bandcamp, youtube, and a plethora of social media, bands are doing it for themselves. I do believe we'll see more indie labels or completely DIY artists. Maybe rock goes back underground for a while... but for most of the genres I listen to, they've always been like that. As for Gene, he'll be sorry to see the passing of the torch from the days when Rock was King handed off to other genres. But the pendulum will always swing, and maybe the genre needs to go back to grass roots for a while to weed out all the bandwagoners and money grubbers ripping off the bands to make a buck. Edit: Slightly edited that comment to sound more coherent. I'm sleep deprived and it was kind of redundant in parts.

Yes. ♥ Don't be! Everyone has their own taste. Hotties come in all shapes and sizes as far as I'm concerned. Maria Brink?

I agree with what a lot of people have said already. I don't really mind re-recordings but it's definitely a case by case basis of who really had something new to add or to prove by re-doing the song again. I'm a big fan of MUCC's remixes of old songs or "modernizing" some old songs like they did recently. And Crystal Lake's new acoustic version of "See this through" with their new vocalist reads as a totally new song just about... It's so different from the original. I rather like having a reason to revisit an old song that I might have forgotten about too, and hearing a new version of a song often sends me back to dig up the original and compare. However, I do feel like bands should let songs gather a certain level of nostalgia before revisiting them. If they just recorded the song a year or two ago, that feels a little soon. Unless there's been a lot of ground covered in that time or new band members have changed the sound dramatically.

Looks alright to me. Yeah. Rick Genest / Rico the Zombie Boy?

Love this song so much more than Aware and Awake. I almost passed up this mini because of the horrible lead track choice. But the You Lie and all the following tracks are wonderful. Also really digging the quality of their "story" videos lately. Looks like someone put a lot of money into them.

Super excited for so many heavier songs. It feels like it's a been a while.
