it does!
dude gets a brutal (like papa Kaoru's guitar riff) sunstroke and the whole album from there on is his hallucinatory descent happening entirely inside of his headspace (cue "the insulated world") where horned daddy feeds him human flesh and little ppl hand out free abortions if he wears a beautiful bridal gown.

I love these songs, it's all I've ever wanted from them.
But man, do i feel that. Where's the breathing room?

yeah, the mother has my sympathy in so far as she is purportedly an abuse victim, but i have very few good things to say about any of the adults involved in the situation. i kind of feel like no one has been putting the child first.

meat reacted to madygrain in Kisaki Drama 2k18
No, no, no.
Money doesn't set this right. The child is still suffering by what is being translated. That man is very probably a risk for society. That much is clear. As a victim of him herself and the mother of another one this should not be the course of action IMHO. I don't know anything about her motivation to do this or the bigger picture but I feels wrong Kisaki being able to buy his way out of THIS ONE.
Also, if she has trouble meeting/contacting him DON'T DROP THE LEGAL CASE YOU DUMB DUMB. IF HE PRESENTS HIMSELF IN COURT YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO HIM. IF HE DOES NOT, HE WILL BE DETAINED AND YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO HIM! What the actual fuck are you doing!?
I understand that having someone trying to dry you out of money to stop a legal procedure is fucking horrible, but you should not be complying after trying to get congressmen involved. It's easy to say (and probably unfair, so sorry for saying it, but I am just speaking out of my heart here) but if she endured all that abuse before coming out with the info, she probably can take it all the way. Has her case weakened? Has he presented or has evidence diminishing of her claims? What's going on? Her new actions make no sense. Is Kisaki impersonating this lady to damage control and taint her image so she appears to be a gold digger? I really don't know if I'm even joking about this. Seems like anything could happen now.
On the topic of "this damages Vkei" I have to agree. It snowballs with terrible precedents. But assuming his bandmen knew precisely to what degree this guy may take things is going a bit far. It's clear nobody wants to work with him for the most part, so he was at least very disliked or even abusive on a work enviroment. But that doesn't mean people knew everything or were OK with it.
The bigger issue here as far is what scene go is that Vkei doen't seem to be able to shake out it's bad rep.

unfortunately i don't have the free time i did when i started this thread, but here's a summary of the new tweets since the restoration until now:
-Employees from child welfare and city officials have visited her
-Her child is mentally unstable
-Received some amount of settlement money but is considering a lawsuit as she takes some kind of issue with the amount. She wants him to sign some documents (including a restraining order that will forbid him from approaching the child and a written acknowledgement of a telephone call where he said he wouldn't make any claims damage or sue for defamation), but...
-Kisaki changed his number and is refusing contact, she implores him to respond
-Her ex husband was upset about the fact that Kisaki and the woman were briefly in an adulterous relationship and allegedly wants to sue. (He only wants to sue Kisaki over this.) She amends this to point out he's also mad about what's happened with the child later.
-She was requested to withdraw her criminal complaint to police as part of the settlement money negotiations.

One thing that amazes me about this band is how despite being in the scene for 30 years, they still release better/more interesting music then 99% of other Japanese rock bands. There's only a handful of bands in the world who have kept up a streak that long without turning crap. Their last two albums have been really great imo.

I was surprised to see that there was no topic on Buck-Tick so far, seeing as they're one of the pioneers of Visual Kei and have been going strong for over 30 years now.
Who else listens to B-T? What do you think of them?

In defence of deg and this album in particular, I always seem to go back and forth with them throughout the years. Even on this forum everyone lists their favourite songs and the ones they dislike with the tone that as if it were the general opinion, and that's the sort of strong opinion they get out of people. It's early, but I think this is going to be one in that line of work; today I think of one thing and three weeks another and in two years something else. Applies to many bands surely, yet not this strongly.

Unpopular opinion: I think I'm the only person here who isn't blown away by the new album. Maybe it'll take more listens but barely any of the tracks are grabbing me at the moment. On first impressions it's like a bland Dum Spiro Spero, and I'm not a huge fan of that album.
Ranunculus is the stand out track to me. 赫, Followers, and 谿壑の欲 interested me the most I think. The rest just washed over me. I think it's the first time one of their albums hasn't immediately grabbed me unfortunately.
I cannot stand the new vocals on 詩踏み, they sound like a half-arsed live version in comparison to the original vocals. I find it akin to the album version of 激しさ. Ew.
Anyone else agree? No? I'll just sit down
Glad to see so many people having fun in the lead up to, and the release of, the new album though! Happy listening everyone! ^^

Ah Mr. Wong. He works for chrome hearts and used to work for backlash. As I understand, every japanese person who has every been born has a heroin like addiction to overpriced silver jewelry that looks like something a "cool youth pastor" would wear with his bedazzled jeans and affliction shirts. Looks like working for them gets you on the inside of j-rock affiliate circles as he posts alot of pics with vamps and diru. Probably gets advance copies as this isnt the first time hes posted covers before the album was officially out. Its a wonder the gyaru havent abducted him and forced him into a life of slavery.

meat got a reaction from Silverhawk33 in Tanuki thread: “About the era in which visual-kei was like a gang of jocks”
I translated a bit from a talk between Die, Gara and Boo here: https://www.monochrome-heaven.com/topic/115-merry-fka-メリー/?do=findComment&comment=606026
Gara mentions about the hardcore drinking sessions DEG does and he had to go along with it, whilst Die mutters that it's Kaoru who forces shots on people. What I didn't translate was a large section in the video where Die and Gara talked about some of the senpai/ kouhai bullshit they have had to put up with. It's been a while since I watched that vid for a while now so don't quote me on this. But I seem to recall Die saying that him and Kaoru were expecting to clean Yoshiki's toilet upon arriving at his LA home and was told (by someone from Luna Sea or X Japan, can't remember) that it's alright and they should drink some Dom Perignon and chill. Die told it as a positive senpai story
If bandomen can be so awful to each other, I wouldn't be surprised at the horrors gyas have to put up with. When especially considering the conventional way for Japanese people to get to know each other, or just to have fun, means copious amount of alcohol. Mixing that with gyas and kouhais who want to impress, I wouldn't be surprised if 100% of those tanuki posts actually happened.

meat reacted to cvltic in Kisaki Drama 2k18
All the photos prove (granted by my own interpretation) is 1. the woman definitely knew and had some sort of relationship with Kisaki thatw ent wrong, 2. that the woman was definitely injured, 3. that Kisaki at the very least doesn't know how to handle a child/respect a child's physical boundaries, 4. that Riku doesn't trust Kisaki, and 5. that Kisaki ran some kind of Y!JA price-boosting scam. Many of these reflect really poorly on him anyway: 4 and 5 completely match his known behaviors, and the 3rd one is a big ass red flag that would seriously worry me even if the other allegations were somehow proven 100% false tomorrow. But there is still room for being critical of the claims as they've been presented without assuming that anyone doing so is caping for Kisaki/bandmen everywhere so try to keep your heads screwed on when it comes to throwing around words like 'innocence'.
I know there's a difference in the quality and detail of evidence provided. I also know that Kisaki is a proven dickhead with a literal rap sheet and that people will understandably weigh that into their judgments. But there are translated assault/rape allegations ostensibly from multiple people against Kyo & Daisuke in this same subforum that have been treated with kid gloves comparatively. I have my own assumptions about Kisaki's guilt like anyone else but it's been annoying me to see not strictly MH members, but off-site people who have jumped on this story as undeniable fact but also decrying tanuki/anonymous sources when it comes to bandmen they actually like because ???.
Unless this manifests as an arrest or court case, I'm leaning towards thinking the woman deleted the account because of tanuki scrutiny or regret for posting the pictures of the child. A lot of the posts I read were quite harsh on the mother for taking pictures of her kid looking distressed, and for posting them on social media. I'd also seen some throwaway accounts reply to to her last tweet about deleting the pictures of the kid and criticizing her for originally only deleting a portion.
^^ @Chi I was just searching and a user posted a DM convo they had with the account OP who said that multiple people supposedly helped report him and also said she believes it will lead to an arrest. I hope she's right and that it does go to a court...

If you were here early, the translations are complete now. While I was working on them, the OP deleted the pictures of her children. They happen to be in the archive I saved, so if necessary I could crop out everything except Kisaki and his tattoos, but I'm wary about doing so at the moment.
@colorfuljinsei, thank you for posting the tattoo pic -- I might quote you in the top post so people can find it easily if/when this thread blows up.

I've always loved that メト had no idea they would be around past 2005, much less 2018, thus rendering the whole "time travellers" gimmick useless.

meat reacted to VESSMIER in DIR EN GREY released their 10th album "The Insulated World" on September 26, 2018
I think the cover is very beautiful and intriguing.
I will admit though that it is rather unusual for DEG, not only because of their choice of colors but also (and especially) because the more I think about the motif, colors and different design elements, the more I get the feeling that this cover art expresses something radically contrary to what the album title suggests (and contrary to DEG's usual vibe): peace, enlightenment and spirituality.
At first I tried to read it from the usual angle: dark, depressive, gloomy, aggressive etc. and the fractal design of the cover came to mind and I thought, well, maybe it signifies something along the lines of a fragmented personality/world (lat. fractus = broken) or that everything repeats itself endlessly. That would mean that nothing can truly change because real change without repetition is not possible resulting in immobility and apathy. That's where the "insulation" from the album title comes in. Plus the funnel-like objects surrounding the pupils have those dark swirls in them which might be a metaphor for all the pain and suffering or generally bad things this person has absorbed etc...
BUT then there’s the general expression of that person on the cover which I'm deducing mainly from the mouth and they look quite content, graceful, even dignified. The eyes are certainly wide open, so they seem to be quite perceptive and open to experience. The bindi-like dot on the forehead (the location of the third eye) is associated with spirituality and deeper perception and the color purple is usually associated with wisdom, peace, nobility, power, a higher self and so on. There's also the white fractal surrounding almost the entire head like a halo. Obviously, spiritual elements play a huge role in that image. But there's also the interplay between heaven (the golden area around the head looks like a sunlit sky) and earth (the green-brown area beginning on the neck and stretching further down to the chest) - so there's the heart that grounds you (soma) and the mind that wanders and aspires to that which is located on a higher experiential plane (psyche).
And that’s just off the top of my head… I think it’s a really cool cover and certainly lends itself to many interpretations. The spirituality aspect cannot be denied though I think and it makes me wonder if this is to represent a DEG that has shaken off its earthly shackles (like depression and pain) and has ascended to a higher realm of consciousness? 🙉And will that also show in lyrics? Or is it just artistic hybris: "Hey we have a new record, it'll blow your fucking mind". Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to it!
PS: You guys are unimaginative and boring as shit with your snarky comments - why u sound so butthurt all the time?

meat reacted to Karma’s Hat in Dir en grey
in real talk all this talk about post-core amphibian dainty-punk is getting very tiresome, especially since the main proponents of creating these inane subgenres and categories and marketing gimmicks come from people who've been listening to metal for two weeks and think they're now on the up and up for discovering ritual ambient or some shit like that.
A band like Dir en grey is impossible to strictly, or at least in a very definitive way, to categorise because they're a combination of two very amorphous musical traditions of visual kei and metal anyway. Their nu-metal base acquired somewhere midway through their career has been almost completely transformed thrice over due to the accumulations of sounds and techniques they've kept on acquiring over the years, and while visual kei is a strange case in of itself ( like, you can still hear the influence of X and Luna sea from almost every band, namely in vocal melodies and how guitar solos function, or that even in 2018 a vk song exceeding 2 minutes in length would not be caught dead without a chorus ) Dir en grey is unique even within that context. They've had progressive elements and done weird shit through mazohyst to hotarubi and then revisited these techniques again and again later on ‑ all the while having songs seemingly contrast in genre on the same release; and despite this there's still a common thread and heritage running through their stuff, but it just defies simple category since they're quite unique. Even if what I just wrote doesn't make any sense, the point still stands that there's else you could call THE UNRAVELING other than visual kei or alternative rock/metal, and neither of those in today's context mean much of anything.
