chemicalpictures got a reaction from Brandon in Piracy's role in visual kei
To begin, we must pleeease understand that the correlation of piracy = loss of a sale is FALSE. People pirating releases ARE NOT making musicians lose money, period. If people hadn't shared, I don't know, batsu game's latest release, I would NOT buy it. I would simply go on without listening to it, because I don't care enough for them to go out of my way to buy a physical copy of something that would cost me 3 USD if it was an itunes release (btw the single sucks). This is true to 95% of the vk listeners, and has been widely discussed in sample pools much larger than a niche japanese music scene, like videogames for example. People buy what they like, period. If you do not let them at least try, why the hell should they buy your music?

That being said, people vastly, VASTLY overestimates the importance of western fandom to the scene. We are not the main target, we are not their main income source, the music isn't made for us. We are a plus in the scene, and every single release a westerner fan buys, it's an EXTRA income for the band. They are not counting with our money, people gotta understand that most of the bands simply don't care if we are listening to them or not, as long as their onemans are filled with japanese girls doing dance steps at their songs. Very few bands have the desire for more international exposure, and if that's the case, they sure have to adapt to our ways, as we are not obliged to accept their 90's thinking in the age of streaming. IF japanese fans started pirating instead of buying, THEN we would have a problem.

Music is dogs eating dogs everywhere in the world, why would be different for japanese boys in make up? Bands that are actually good, or at least are able to gather interest in their music will flourish, no matter what. People fail to understand that the scene is small because of it's characteristics, because boys dressing like girls and shredding guitars is niche and most importantly, it's foundation is what holds it back. No ammount of western pirates will make or break a band, period.

fun fact, UNiTE. shared most of their discography on Spotify, I don't know if it is restricted in japan (which would be a smart thing to do). Yeah they are bigger than most vk acts around, but that does show they are not following the outdated tunneled vision most bands are, and see us as what we are. Extra income, if they get to book a concert here and there, fine! If not, fine aswell, their focus is where it should be, their growth in Japan, without closing their doors to us, the outsiders.

IKR!? I was SO happy seeing Jun back, and I'm still hopeful REVLOW will eventually unpause activites, but my wet dream would be him teaming up with Kai again, lol. DOPES. is such an important band to me, Kai is such a great composer, really boggles me they haven't being so active after their disbandment...

WOW Azlina sounds good, how yt never gave recomendations about them >.<
From all ViViD members, Ryoga was the one I liked less lol so I actually didn't gave much care about this project, but looks interesting after all (of course it's interesting, an exViViD member) lol
It makes me so happy that I saw/hear SHIN's GMD on it, his solo project is driving crazy. |His voice shall never fade.

I once saw the news regarding LOVE ROCK, but I totally forgot to look for their material, they look good.
I got punched by LUX's EXIST, its a magical vocal. Now I know why so many people got dissapointed with their end.
LOVE is good, but I still think Tohma could have searched for a full time heavy band lol He is one my favorites heavy guitarrists, along with Kouryu (RAZOR).

equal is a good song, but I still love Aqua the most on all their disco, for some reasons hahaha
LAGLESS, so cool, another lost for the scene

@chemicalpictures Anfiel's equal is on yt, It was shared by an user who used to visit here a few years ago.

@chemicalpicturesyay glad to know you enjoyed those bands too! LOVE LOCK's singles were both good, but 東京パブリック is my fave. it sucks that Kai left, hopefully they can find someone to take his place although i'm not too optimistic. it's kinda depressing that the DOPES guys came back after so long (e.g. Jun in REVLOW) but disappeared again.

@yakihikotbh I never paid much attention to Ryoga as well when ViViD was around (Team Shin ftw) but his vocals surprised me  would be great if they had more vk visuals haha, but i'm not complaining cos i really enjoy the music.

@The Reverendaww, thanks for always reading my lists!! <3 as for lagless, ironically i've been supporting them from way before cos i knew dog (their vocalist, also the guy in my profile pic haha) from the host scene even though their first 2 singles were tbh a little iffy for me. so you can imagine all the delight/relief/regret i felt when literally the last thing they wrote blew me away x.x agreed on FAB too, they're so underrated and i hope more ppl can know about them!

@Neurosisthanks for listening! hope you found some songs you like

I really enjoyed Gameover, GRAVITY, MORRIGAN, anfiel, L.O.V.E. aswell!

Special shoutout to LOVE LOCK, dunno bout the rest of the single, only listened to 東京パブリック which was shared on youtube, but I'm pretty sure it's great since my boy Kai can do no wrong! Such a shame he left the band, tho...

I'll give ReFrain a spin, seems real nice!

Also looking forward to Revlow, RIKUTO inck., anfiel's equal once they get shared, all looking really interesting!

afaik it was just that, poor ticket sales. About their disbandment, before the release of their second album, it was decided that it was gonna be their make-or-break period. Either they were going to climb up, or end activities. Things didn't end up going too well, they decided to break up. vocalist is now on ORCALADE, which is amazing, Bassist formed a band called GAGA, which was great aswell but disbanded already, and guitarrist is on amanjaku, which has yet to impress me.

I've been saying since reincarnation, they are absolutely THE flagship VK band, and if there's anyone who can extract anything different from this cesspool scene full of bad deg copies and bleep blopy whiny bands, it's them.

and yuya has balls the size of the moon, name another band who would choose such an odd structured/tempo song to be an album lead song? Fuckin VK don't deserve these guys, hoping for a major deal to come their way soon, that may allow them to conquer new audiences
