I understand and I was just saying that since it's a review even though you think it's still a good watch, most people would see the 5/10 score and probably decide right then and there that's it's not worth watching based on that... which is a shame. btw how did you even end up with the 5/10 score? like do you have a points system when you review something? Where you subtracts points off the final score for certain "flaws"? Or is it just more of a feeling ordeal? I would be very interested in finding out how you ended up with the final score. I know that when I review something I first try to only compare that show to other similar shows so that way I don't end up with funky scores like 5/10 XD For example if I was to compare Silver Spoon to Kill la Kill while trying to review it; first of all I gave KLK a 9/10... now I'm trying to accurately score SS but still trying to somewhat compare it to the KLK score... that's impossible. I originally gave SS first season a 8/10 but if I was comparing that to the 9/10 KLK score I would probably have given it a 5-6/10... not because I didn't enjoy it as much as KLK but because I feel on the scale it didn't reach to as great of heights as KLK did in it's run. Likewise I gave the second season a 9/10 which is the same exact score I gave KLK... had I been comparing the two on the same scale I wouldn't have given it as high a score. But when I'm not trying to compare two totally different shows/genres Silver Spoon totally deserves the scores I gave it because that's how much I enjoyed and loved it compared to other shows in the same genre. I don't know if this makes much sense but basically what I'm trying to say is it's all about the mindset and having different review "scales" for different types of shows and genres. I actually didn't watch Usagi Drop so I don't really know if that's true or not, but I'll definitely put it on my backlog of "to watch" series thanks for the recommendation. Speaking more on the whole score thing for a second, since you obviously liked Usagi Drop more than Silver Spoon what would you score it? If Silver Spoon got a 5/10 but you liked Usagi more than it should get a higher score correct? but how much higher? I guess that depends on how much more you really liked it compared to Silver Spoon.

performance is always good, but the little that you gain through windows classic view shouldn't matter if you have a good enough computer... just sayin.

After reading you're review I just sorta get the feeling that you over analyze shows and/or slice of life just isn't your genre... a lot of the points you make in your review sound like you are praising the show quite a bit, but then you give it pretty shit scores all around. So I can say it's probably because it's not your favorite type of show I guess... Because it's way better than a 5/10 (average score by my scale). Btw I don't think you've watched the second season considering how you talk about the only character that matters is Hachiken, which is totally not the case. True he's the main focus for most of the first season but they really flesh out a lot of the other characters in the second season, tbh the first and second seasons should have been one whole season anyways, they just fit together better that way. Overall I enjoyed what you had to say in your review but I didn't find that the overall score were deserving of probably one of the best slice of life shows in a long time. I do however agree with your evaluations of the animation and sound, but I don't think they should impact the final score as much since this is slice of life and those specific areas shouldn't be as important in a show likes this compared to something like SNK or KLK. I However laugh at your remark about the story ("Story? What story?") because that's bullshit. This show has a story, but what do you expect it's slice of life.. The story is pretty much based on how the characters interact with each other throughout the series and the different scenarios that arise through living everyday life hence the name of the genre, that's how it goes. I get the impression you reviewed this with the wrong mindset, either that or you are just growing tired of anime overall thus you find everything to be either average or bad. but seriously you should watch the second season, it's better than the first and really does a better job at character development, not to mention out of all the shows from this current season that are ending, it definitely is the one with the best writing. EDIT: btw not trying to be a dick here... just offering some constructive criticism

Awesome! brotherhood is such a good adaption... I just want to forget the first series anime only rendition There's no "fillers" from what I remember, but yeah you better get used to the slapstick humor because it's a reoccurring thing throughout the show... Which isn't a bad thing since it makes a good contrast from the serious aspect of the series. I personally loved the humor in FMA, both in the manga and the tv series.

I recently decided to do a hard mode run through Persona 3 FES on my PC through PCSX2 emulation, 4x native resolution at 60 fps equals LOVE! EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm also using a widescreen patch for persona so that shit is legit 16:9 screen ratio and with none of that stretched out pseudo widescreen shit also just finished my good karma run through on Infamous: Second Son earlier tonight... now to do a evil karma run and after it'll be trophy hunting till I get the platinum

^ Please do yourself a favor and don't drop Black Lagoon, just trust me it's worth it... actually it's the best show out of all the ones you mentioned (except one piece... nothing is better than one piece XD) IMO.

^ nice. Alis is a good character, I liked him too yeah Kuroko is one of those shows that I know isn't good from a technical standpoint but I just can't help to watch because I get so into the action xD so i guess I can admit that it's a bad show, but I still like it a lot anyways... idk it's weird
  8. Original Saku

LOL, that's understandable. I have to agree that the guillotine gorilla incident at the end of episode 7 was so abrupt and sudden that it really was a WTF moment XD I guess I just tried to look pass all the trolling and ended up enjoying it more because I wasn't expecting it to be a dream sequence in the end. Obviously I don't agree that it should be that low of a score because even if you look pass all the troll's and wackness with the writing the base of the show is still quality, but yeah like you said it's not the score it deserves but the score it needs or whatever I guess XD

^ yeah I'm also enjoying the Aoba/Dio relationship going on right now so I totally understand! I didn't mean you in particular, I was just saying in general I see a lot of hate for shows like Samumenco just because they are different. I wasn't saying that's the reason you hate it since I don't really know the reason you hate it, because you haven't actually given any real reason as to why you think it's bad Also I can't understand why you would think it would have been better to go supernatural from the start, I think it benefited from the slow start-up and the unrelated realism at the beginning, and the decision to pull the supernatural elements at that exact point in the show was brilliant... I mean think about it, right when ever they pulled that stunt at the end of episode 7 the show up to that point had already progressed to the point where it was getting old (don't get me wrong I appreciate what the first 7 episodes setup for the rest of the show, and i enjoyed it) with the whole vigilante vs. ordinary bad guy scenario. Let's say they didn't introduce the supernatural or over the top elements to the show for a sec... Can you even imagine how boring it would have been over the next 15 episodes? What are they gonna introduce some scumbag yakuza type organization instead or some other shit? How long would that really last? I don't see it being even remotely entertaining that way tbh. For the record I don't see how anyone who was even slightly paying attention to the show not being able to predict the sentai/tokusatsu elements coming into play sooner or later, there was so many hints and different tell tell signs in the first 7 episodes it's not even funny, no one should have been surprised at that shit. One thing I found so impressive about the show was you could tell they had a vision for it and they stuck to that vision through and through although the story was albeit erratic in it's pacing sometimes, the main theme of heroism was obviously the main point of the entire show. I would probably give it a 7-8 out of 10 if I had to score it. What's your opinion and score on the show Flame? I'm just curious since you obviously didn't enjoy it as much as I did, but I'm still interested in you objective opinion of the show

^ Hey don't diss Samumenco, That show is godlike! It brings forth all the emotions I felt as a kid watching sentai shows... and it has some good underlying messages here and there IMO it's one of the better shows from last year! Don't hate just because it's different Hell now a days I'm starting to realize the shows that are different are the ones worth really watching and paying attention to. I will admit that I can see how a lot of people are put off by it though... I mean it is hella trolly at times XD but I liked the trolls and it was even better when I'd see all these ani-twitter fags bitching about their realism going down the drain after the "guillotine gorilla" incident and I was just like; "you didn't really expect that they were gonna just continue the way they were going for 24 whole episodes did you?". I almost anticipated some crazy shit like that start popping off as soon as I caught wind of the sentai squad vibes and inspirations in the first 3-5 episodes.

Well KLK is over and that last episode was glorious. Pretty good ending, I'm satisfied with how Trigger went about it. Now that I've seen it all I can legitly say that it is not as good as TTGL for me, but it got very close! I couldn't really ask more from it than that Everything is ending right now though... I've probably completed almost ten different shows in the last three days T.T and more will be ending over the weekend too. I hope this upcoming season is as good if not better then the last few seasons I agree with pretty much everything you said except for Buddy Complex I will admit that it's not as bad as I initially thought after watching the first episode. It definitely became more enjoyable for me later on and the mecha battles are very entertaining as Sunrise mecha shows are known for! but there's no way it's better than Valvrave. Buddy Complex just reeks generic which is my biggest problem with it, now Valvrave also had certain generic tropes here and there but overall it felt fresh and different from the normal sunrise mecha show. While Buddy Complex is all so predictable with what's about to happen, When watching Valvrave it was so out there that most of the time I had no idea what was gonna happen next or what direction there were going towards. Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi is a pretty good sleeper show from last year, lot's of people overlooked it, and I dare say it's quite under appreciated. Glad to hear you're giving it a chance

If we're talking Japanese rock in general then I could trace back my discovery all the way back to the year 2001-2002 with FLCL and it's amazing soundtrack courtesy of the pillows. Otherwise VK would be a little later on around 2006-2007 when I was actively searching for new types of Japanese music on the net and I came across bands like Dir en grey, D'espairs Ray, and Mucc.
  14. Original Saku

I haven't watched it yet, but I expect it to be amazing
  15. Postponing this weeks anime stream for various reasons... in the meantime I put a poll in the official thread, if you have the time please go there and fill it out for me.. it would be a tremendous help :Dhttp://www.monochrome-heaven.com/topic/26905-mh-anime-informationfeedback-thread/

      Tetora

I appreciate the effort. Haven`t been watching much for a while now, only checked out Kill la Kill, which I love. Hope to get back into some shows with you guys and help this thing grow.

  16. Original Saku

hmmm.. that's weird. I hope they just start with the one that's only six months later instead of two years... otherwise I'm gonna be confused to no end and I'm sure a lot of other western fans will be just as confused. I understand that most Japanese fans have probably read the source material but I'm sure there's a lot who haven't as well, which is why I think doing it this way is really weird and confusing. There's is bound to be a ton of people who are fans because they watched the first season and who have no knowledge of the LN, and in that case they're not gonna have any idea what's happening if they just skip ahead two years and 10 volumes into the story... meh just doesn't sound smart. I really hoping it's a misunderstanding and they just continue where they left off, I was hoping they would adapt vol. 4-6 in this season, I've heard that a lot of good shit starts happening in those volumes.
  17. Original Saku

hmm that's interesting... what volumes of the LN does the second arc take place in? I'll have to read up to that point before it airs if that truly the case.
  18. Original Saku

wait so they're aren't picking up where they left off with vol.4 of the LN series? Because that's stupid and I'm totally disappointed now. What's your source for this info? because everyone I've talked to or seen talking about is under the assumption it's gonna pick right back up at the beginning of vol.4 (since the first season adapted vol. 1-3) and really it doesn't make sense for them to skip all that story, people are gonna be hella confused it seems...
  19. Original Saku

That's awesome, sad thing is it probably won't air till this fall or winter T.T but I can live with that.. I'm just glad to see more of the light novels being adapted and that they were able to get most of the staff and VA's back to work on it. Like seriously DRRR!! first season has so many amazing voice actors, I partly think that's why it took so for this to happen... just too hard to get everybody back in the same place at once. It's a shame that brainbase won't be animating it like the first season but I'm sure they'll get someone else who is just as talented.
  20. Original Saku

Yeah it's not a remake. but wait. we are really getting a second season of Durarara! that's news to me... anybody have the source? this is something I've been waiting almost 5 years for, so if it's a legit 2nd season I'm gonna die of excitement XD Also hype that the second season of Log Horizon was announce for this fall at the end of the last episode I was really hoping that would be the case.
  21. Original Saku

What exactly are you trying to imply here? Because it sounds to me like you're trying to say we haven't actually tried to do anything about these problems (problems that i think are non-existent tbh, but alas that's just my opinion) and that we are just saying we have (technically I get the vibe that you're calling us liars). If that truly is what you are implying then I have to ask on what do you base your implications? How long have you been apart of this community? Because I can tell you right now I've been here for 7 long years and I hate to break it to you but I don't remember you gracing this forum with your presence since about 2-3 years and that might be stretching it. Who the hell are you to say we haven't done anything to solve these issues when you yourself haven't been here long enough to even know what we've tried? I'm not usually the kind of person to take offense to something said on the internet but when it comes to somebody discrediting the hard work that I and the other staff have put into this community and implying that we haven't actually done anything but instead are just saying we have, like it's a fact. I'll go ahead and tell you right now, that pisses me off to no end and really get my blood boiling. If this is not the case and you weren't implying any of this then I apologize but that is seriously how it sounds in your post. and to that I would recommend wording your posts more carefully from now on to avoid anymore "misunderstandings". that is if that is really the case. EDIT: After reading your last post I'm now pretty certain you really were implying those things. Your entire attitude is atrocious and quite frankly you're acting like a "brat" who thinks their opinion is the "right" opinion and who is assuming that the majority of people here are in fact in agreement with your views on the issue. That's bullshit and you know it. If you really don't think the issue can be fixed then why are you sitting here being difficult and wasting your time in the first place. It just doesn't add up.
  22. Original Saku

Yeah that's bullshit. I mean I'm not gonna sit here and say I'm not hype for unicorn or the new movies and tv show, but it kinda irks me that they're just gonna leave BF where it's at... I guess there's always the possibility that they could go back to it later and make a second season... *thinking optimistically here*
  23. Original Saku

The rationale is: It's fair. doesn't cause unneeded drama. and was implemented because people were trolling and just straight denying certain people access to links at one point because they didn't like certain people. This caused a lot of pointless shit throwing between members thus we banned the "PM for link" practice and also made the notion "Share openly or don't share at all" our official stance on the matter. and for the most part it has worked fine. end of story. And for the record all this talk of their being a problem with the DL section is bullshit to me. Their is nothing wrong with the DL forum it's just there as it always has been. I will say this now; We are a discussion forum first and foremost. we don't have to have a DL section and tbh It could be done away with and I wouldn't bat an eyelash. I come here for discussion and to chat with other people who are aligned with my interests. If anything getting rid of the DL forums would weed and purge out all the pretenders who are really just here for the downloads, and we would probably be better in the end for it. But we like to have nice things, convenient things, like a section for uploading music we want to share with our friends. Thus I don't see that there needs anything to be done about the "distribution" of music flowing and originating from this forum. The DL section is just simply there like it always has been and by no means should it define us a community. leave it be.
  24. Original Saku

^ Wait does that mean that Build Fighters isn't getting a second season? Because if so I'll be very disappointed... It's such a good show and I'm really enjoying it right now but I kinda figured it would get another 25 episodes, I mean how the hell are they gonna explain the whole predicament with Reiji and the world he comes from and all that shit when there's only one episode left? I swear if they don't give it a second season I might just lose my faith in sunrise... they fucking gave shitty AGE fifty episodes and SEED which is also pretty shitty a hundred episodes, but they won't give the best gundam show in the past ten years (imo) no more than twenty-five episodes? I call bullshit. They need to get their fucking priorities straight and learn what fans really want.
  25. Original Saku

I personally think that the France setting will be perfect and really bring back the AC feel, you know the colonies and the Caribbean were both real interesting places, but they never achieved the feeling that the settings in AC2, brotherhood, and revelations were able to achieve. Bringing the game back to Europe I think is the right choice. Also the French Revolution Sounds like a really interesting time period so it should be quite exciting.
