I like the one's Jig mentioned, plus Virge's album too. But if you weren't into Phantasmagoria at one point, you probably wouldn't like that either.

      Here's a list so far:

Looking back, I actually forgot about a lot of things that came out this year too. I also enjoyed some songs off of D'erlanger's album, and I liked Scarlet Valse's album too.

@Peace Heavy mk II That reminds me, I still haven't given the MORRIE album a shot! Not much oyaji-kei I liked this year so far... D'ERLANGER was my only hope but their album was reaaaaaally weak. :-(

these dudes are always on that ''pv budget of no more than 100 yen TOPS'' shit but the music's still good so w/e
  8. here's some pretty alright stuff that came out this year U-BAHN -U-BAHN Australian band that sounds like what you'd get if 'Q: Are We Not Men?'-era Devo and Ariel Pink had a head-on collision. If that sounds like your thing you'll definitely like this. Jakuzi - Hata Payı More post-punk/synth stuff from Turkey. Recommended if you like Molchat Doma, Drab Majesty, She Past Away and that kind of stuff probably Drahla - Useless Coordinates Definitely some Sonic Youth influence here. Little bit no wave-y at times The Faint - Egowerk The Faint's back at it again. This time around they've set the 'punk' side of 'dance-punk' aside for the most part and decided to double down on the electronic aspect of their sound. Whether it works or not is up to you I guess - personally I found that some of the tracks kinda start to blend together at a certain point, but there's still some bangers on here Snapped Ankles - Stunning Luxury Another dance punk group. This one strikes a bit more of a balance between the dance and punk influences than The Faint's album does. French Vanilla - How Am I Not Myself? This is that kind of stuff Pitchfork woulda been all over if it would've been released in 2009 Erik Nervous & The Beta Blockers - LP More Devo-worship. I'm REALLY happy this particular variety of post-punk seems to be making a comeback these last couple of years as I just love the nervous and anxious side of post-punk a lot. Girl Band - The Talkies Album's not out yet but I've got high hopes for this one. Also for the noise rock fans out there bonus that isn't from 2019: HMLTD american_cali_gari.wmv

that reads like one of those ''i saw flying lotus in a grocery store'' copypasta texts so hard i was half expecting the story to conclude with someone seeing loki passing by while trying to hold 50 snickers bars in his hands or some shit like that

Charisma - Third film I've seen by Kiyoshi Kurosawa so far, and like the previous two I enjoyed it. One element all three of them have had in common is a sort of weird 'depressed' atmosphere: there's this constant hazy, dreamlike layer of melancholia draped all over everything that gives the whole film a distinct otherworldly feeling. This one's mostly set in and around a huge forest, and there's some absolutely GORGEOUS scenery porn to be found here, so if you're a fan of that sort of thing definitely do yourself a favor and check it out just for that alone. Most of the plot was pretty self-explanatory, revolving around a conflict between various parties about a strange tree that the protagonist inadvertently gets involved in after losing his job, abandoning his family and retreating into the wild. Ending was pretty ??? and out of the left field however and I'm still not entirely sure what it's actually supposed to signify. It's definitely more of a slow burner, so if you're not into that sort of thing I'm not sure whether you'll enjoy this or not, but everybody else should at least give it a try. Also, the soundtrack's rather impressively atmospheric, though it sounds like it was composed for a horror film instead.

does shinya literally have some contractual clause that states he doesn't ever have to bother with changing his looks? it's so goddamn boring
  17. 10+ minute A-side? that makes up for the lackluster b-sides at least, though i hella hope they're not just gonna continue with the Vinushka/Diabolos/Zetsuentai stock 'long song' format
