True, there are certainly ways that supporting stores have an effect on profits in the big picture. I certainly feel that stores like ours, puresound and closet-child have their place in the VK ecosystem though. So the argument that nobody should support stores with those business models just seems a bit misplaced

For how I understand it, buying new from a shop like Brand-X doesn't really support the band any more. The way I understand it at least is that when a store like Brand-X sells a CD, the band/label/distributor doesn't see any cut of that sale. They already made their money when Brand-X placed an order for however many CDs they wanted to stock. This is obviously different if you're buying directly from the band via mail-order, web-shop or at a concert, but those are generally very edge cases for how a majority of overseas fans purchase their music.

Yeah, I mean I totally get where they're trying to come from there. Defending the support of an artist is a decent cause. I think the logic is just a bit screwed up though XD I mean, for all intents and purposes, we're a reseller just like any music store. We have to purchase our music in the first place, after all, so any profit going to the band would have already happened at that point XD That's not even getting into the fact that most VK bands make little(if any) money off of CD sales in the first place...
