One thing I really like is how much our lists vary, speaks tons about how good and divisive deg is. Especially I see that dum Spiro spero is either one of your favorites or one of your most hated, that's really cool don't you think? 

Love them or hate them, almost everyone's got an opinion about Dir en grey. The scene stops to listen whenever Dir en grey announce a new single or album. As a long time fan of the band, I think it's the perfect time to express how I feel about all of their albums. My feelings will differ from album to album. Some albums have had the benefit of twenty years and others only a few months, so that's always going to be a factor in how I rank things. I will cover this from my least favorite album to my most favorite album, but by no means take this as a definitive list for Dir en grey. Everyone will have their own rankings and their own suggestions for where to start. I happen to think that this also a great order to introduce someone to this band.
 
This is a perfect topic for those that don't listen to Dir en grey or don't know where to start, current fans looking for spicy opinions and a pot to stir, or even old fans looking for a reintroduction into their new era. Not only have I included a PV for each album as a sampler, but I also put together suggested playlists for each album. The playlists are the order that I would have arranged the band if I were them. The songs are the songs that I believe are the best from each period. Some will require more effort than others to construct. To make it simpler, I have included my favorite three tracks and one music video from each album.

I will not consider the mini albums MISSA and six Ugly in this analysis, but some of those tracks will appear in the playlists I create.

The intro was to be even longer, but I made it shorter. It also consumed most of my pcs ram because of the many effects used for the screaming
 
The variations are 100% the intention I had, just variation for the sake of not being repetitive and I never really wondered what I was adding. The parts you say feel disjointed are actually the separate options I wanted to use as the main melody and drum beat for the song when I wanted to do a more hopeful melody. The idea changed but I was too lazy not to use it
 
I only think about the build up because I really don't know how to do anything else in any of my proyects, so the song is basically many long build ups put together, I just don't know how to do anything else
 
Im really happy you enjoy the ending, it's by far the best part of the song for me and the reason why I decided to make it as good as I could, just so I could live up to the ending. The song is not finished though and probably never will be because I'm lazy... 
 
What I'm trying to say is that you read my mind with the song, your mind is really great at this. Again thank you for your answer

My first initial thoughts:
 
-Intro was too long. I thought the small tonal change around 15 seconds was going to be the real start, but there's another 25 seconds of buildup after that.
 
-You do repeat a main theme a couple of times in the song, and perform a couple of slight variants on it here and there. However, it felt like a couple of sections were disjointed and random for the sake of diversity, rather than adding to the idea as a whole. For example, when your drum structure changes around 1:50 to be less syncopated; not a bad idea, but there's a lack of context since it happens, then shortly bleeds out of that pattern without going back to it or playing off of it again.
 
-You're good at writing buildup. I found myself anticipating the next section of the song because you led me to want to. However, I felt like a lot of times there wasn't significant payoff as a reward for that anticipation. (This could just be because this kind of bleak post-apocalyptic style isn't really my genre of choice. I'm trying to be objective about musical structure, rather than the content itself).
 
-That ending was really nice. The way the beeps build up akin to how a lot of EDM songs do their first drop, then end in a flatline was a nice touch. It shows you put some thought into how it should end, rather than just fading to grey or something less deliberate.

I do like IDEAL and INNOCENCE but I'm with you holding onto their weird compositions, remembering the first tracks we got to hear from them I think it's an important part of their appeal lol

I'm trying to get into 8P-SB, but it's really hard lmao XD i'm still mourning over MEJIBRAY's disbandment

im gonna go out on a limb and say english is probably not retsu's first language so that statement could be interpreted in a variety of ways. my guess is he meant it moreso hes not going to let anything change or impact what he wants to create musically.

Feel free to visit the suggestion forum. But you should get used to the idea of foreigners playing in Japanese bands. It's prevalent in every other style of Japanese rock. If the band is based in Japan it goes in the Japanese news sections. That's all there is to it.

If anything I feel like Sho uses growls when it fits the lyrics. Kyo, on the other hand, often seems like he just randomly makes noises.

I have this friend I consider close and we haven't really seen each other or communicated much in over a month. I'm kinda pissed because her IG stories show she's not really busy, just clinging to her boyfriend. Which would be ok if she hand't blown me off a few times recently and only after I almost threw a fit she kinda apologized for not realizing I was having a really terrible time and needed support. But then when I confirmed I was feeling like shit she just said "well, the only one with the power to help you is yourself' and stopped responding.
Like a week later I told her I was sick of always having to beg for a text reply and then see her text her bf nonstop when we were together and how bad and hurt her careless attitude made me feel. She left it on seen, and now, a week later, I find out she's attending a party organized by the same guy I had a physical fight with at a club. I find that really disloyal and I told her so, but she just ignored me again.
IDk if I should talk things with her or just tell her to fuck off and delete her from my social media. That feels very childish and immature but she's also showing to be very unreliable and overall a bad friend.

Necroing the thread, but it seems I'm the only one with a first hand account on him and maybe this can put OP's mind at ease if they're still concerned.
I used to speak to Yohio regularly when I was 16 and he was 13. He was incredibly nice then. Maybe him being interested sex is true, he was quite flirty when I spoke with him but in a sweet way, not creepy. He was also very serious about his music and a skilled guitarist, especially for that age, and practiced vk back then too. So I don't believe rumors that he uses vk as a way to get laid. Of course, we were both kids and people can change. But if someone told me he used vk as a means to get easy sex from fangirls, I wouldn't believe it.

First listen opinions: "Baku" is kinda odd. It has the potential to be something absolutely sick but feels kinda unfinished and rushed, but I really like the emphasis on atmosphere. "Sense of Distrust" does the "heavy verses poppy chorus" thing pretty well I must say. I honestly consider that formula to be one of the worst things going on within the br00tal kei scene but the melody is very engaging, props to them for being able to get it right! Not anything to say on the SE track really. It's nice as far as SEs go, and while its addition already reeks of "we don't have anything else to put on the single", its placement as the last track feels really weird and it doesn't add absolutely anything to the single.
 
I kinda liked it more than Ideal tbh
