ambivalentideal reacted to Paraph in キズ(Kizu) new single 黒い雨 (Release 2019.10.29)
is there an ugliest cover challenge happening in the vk scene atm or. this is a strong contender with that NICOLAS number.

I totally agree, hence why I stated in my previous comment that dimlim and mamireta aren't on the same level lol like the latter, dimlim might be a one or two hit wonder (or rather, 2 release wonder) so as incredible as they have been so far, we should never be too hasty to call anyone a savior in this scene.

a little less whining please, i’m getting tired. two English posts in a row just to complain? why not spend the energy appreciating the foreign fans who came to see you and/or bought stuff.

To open up this can of worms again, I understand Retsu’s point about illegal uploads, but using a track from Kidoairaku as an example softens it. Unless they’re still sitting on a ton of unsold copies or it’s suddenly become commercially available, complaining about it now doesn’t make much sense.

It's becoming harder and harder to love this band for every new page of this thread. Leaving VK, whining, programming instruments instead of finding replacement members...
I proclaimed them saviours of VK some time ago, now I'm wondering if they will last the year.
How things can change.

ambivalentideal reacted to Gesu in Visual kei popping up in unexpected places
There's a character in an otome visual novel called Collar X Malice who's the singer of a fictional VK band.
Tbh, Collar X Malice actually sounds like a VK band name.

Before thinking about doing anything oversea they need to rethink about their current situation, get a bassist, maybe a second guitarist, decide if they are keeping their visuals or not, write more music, ca$h some fat buck$ with merchandise, usual stuff every single band does y'know? I'd hate to see them go because of very poor hindsight...

ambivalentideal reacted to IGM_Oficial in best jrock cd cover
So, a topic about the best jay-rawk cover art and there's no Isana Kagami? This is criminal.
She is best known for her works for Nocturnal bloodlust, but it's not just that: she did some services to Scarlet horizon, Babymetal and Soko ni naru, for example. It also includes design for goods, like posters and towels. It's not easy to find people abusrdly talented as her, so she deserves all recognition she can get. She has a website and Tumblr.
Nocturnal bloodlust - The omnigod
Nocturnal bloodlust - Providence
Nocturnal bloodlust - The best '09-'17
Nocturnal bloodlust - Unleash
Scarlet horizon - 7
Jester may fail & Saintz - Between 2 fires
Soko ni naru - Yaminabe (cute kitten <3)

No one overseas even buys from these shops in the first place, as long as cdj is still around what difference does it make for westerners

Yeah of course the Tomurai debacle was very hard to swallow but to be honest I wouldn't be concerned yet. The "Vanitas" music video was posted on the 2nd of June, and Chedoara itself was out on the 8th of August, more than 2 months after it. We woulnd't see a "digest video" of the Chedoara songs until August 13, 5 days after the release of the album. I understand people have legitimate reasons to be feeling concerned but I don't think it's time to be freaking out yet. Have stuff to be continuously postponed without little explanation like Tomurai, then I'm going to be actually concerned.
BTW, has any j-rock/vk band ever tried any crowdfunding campaign or subscription system or something like that? Maybe it could help them. I kinda doubt it considering the japanese music industry is so assbackwards lol

Guitar tone is part of the production process.
A better master would make a huge difference. In TIW, there's so much overall compression that the sound is crushed to the point of almost becoming two-dimensional. That's why it sounds 'flat'. Distorted guitars sound 'flat' by their very nature. A good mix will give them not only spatial positioning but also breathing room in the song.
Anyway, I do think that this was an artistic decision to make the LP sound as claustrophobic and difficult as possible. If so, they achieved their goal... at the cost of the music being fatiguing to listen to. Compare the album mixes to the live ones. It's like night and day.
Apologies if I'm sounding like a broken record.

good production/mastering really won't make that much of a difference for their new stuff. They need a better guitar tone!
I revisited Vulgar (which I used to kinda poopoo because it was their take on nu-metal, but time heals all wounds etc) and the guitar absolutely rips compared to this flat, uber-scooped protoolsy tone they have now.
