  1. Seeing as we've been on the subject of gender and whatnot for the past few days now, I guess it's only fitting that I'd wake up (at about 3:30pm) to this.

I don't talk about gender but about sex. I find the ideas behind the concept of gender problematic, even reggressive and this is one of the cases when it shows it's problematic. I think people can identify however they want but people should not be persecuted for stating biological reality.

It's not even about how many genders there are. The point is, this kid was kicked out of a classroom for half an hour just for stating his humble opinion; bear in mind most kids will get just five minutes for being genuinely rude/disruptive. Schools are supposed to be places of education that can encourage people to share and grow their thoughts, but this teacher and this school were not allowing him to do that and actually compromised his education just because he thought differently to them. If he was advocating for people who identify as something other than male or female to be hurt or stripped of their human rights, I could understand why he'd be removed from the class/school because that's extremism, but he wasn't, and the teacher repeatedly interrupting him and talking in a hostile manner really wasn't helping. If they'd given this kid a chance to actually expand on his point, maybe they could have met in the middle somewhere and come to an agreement, and even if they couldn't agree, they'd at least have had a fair discussion. Not so long ago in my psychology class, I managed to get every other student in the room disagreeing with me because I said I wouldn't forgive a loved one for committing a serious crime, but did I get kicked out/reprimanded? Nope; most likely because I didn't bring up gender which seems to be an issue you have to pussyfoot around.

To elaborate on what you said.

I agree that it's cool to have a discussion about this. I don't know if your referring to my comment or the other comments but I am fine with having a discussion about this kind of stuff.

Point is, if your stating an opinion, say it right. While I'm sure the kid ISNT transphobic, the way he said his words sounded like he was invalidating other identities. At best, he should have been more respectful with his words, for the lack of a better term.

Regardless, I think that he should have just gotten a stern talk from the teacher. I think removing him from the school is harsh. Again, @Gesu I agree with what you are saying, but I'm just saying that he should have used better words.
