  1. So is this a compilation of performances already released from the Mode Of DVDs or those performances are different from the ones from the DVDs (like, same tour, different dates?). Yeah I get that this isn't really something to care about but considering the Mode Of DVDs all had limited distribution this might be a somewhat of a "consolation prize" for those who weren't able to get them when each DVD came out.

Did they ever released (at least recently) any outtake from their previous album as their first single of a new one? I know some songs from previous "eras" got included in later albums, but I don't recall them ever downright stating "this was supposed to be on our previous album". Just conjecture from my part, but I think all the "new album cycle" singles of late ("Clever Sleazoid", "Dozing Green", "Hageshisa", "RInkaku" and "Utafumi") seem to be very different from the albums they released prior to them so they're most likely not written for the previous albums?

  2. Hey, the second song is from that demo Issei posted sometime ago when he was looking for bandmates for a new project! I suppose that's how he got into contact with Mio since vocalists were supposed to write lyrics and vocals for that song and sent to him? I still have the instrumental on my computer.

It's hard to really have an impression based on such short samples (and the fact that they are from "disconnected" parts of the songs makes it even harder to have an idea). I agree that 7 sounds really bad but the rest is rather interesting, I'm interested to hear what they are up to. Glad that they were able to get a better mix this time. Tracks 4 and 6 sound really interesting.

Kinda worried about Mio's vocal delivery: while the harsh vocals on the album were actually pretty good and the cleans were somewhat passable despite being obnoxiously out of his comfortable range, now the harsh vocals are weaker (even though it might be because the mix is different from the album's) and his cleans are even more outside his range. I still believe he'll be able to pull out a Sho and become an absolute beast though

  3. I'm going to be the contrarian and say that Sho looks pretty lame comparing to the others but I suppose he's playing the ill boy role so w/e.

I'm not going to pledge my undying loyality to them before I listen to the new stuff but I'm pretty hyped myself and if the new song is on the same level than Chedoara we can really wait for something huge.

  4. I was glad Kyo ditched the emo rapper look but holy shit, wtf was that

Waiting for him to sound the worst he ever did. For some reason his vocals on Sukekiyo are always much worse than the ones on DeG (for real, the Immortalis-Arche-Adoratio-TIW run was a total vocal see-saw for him) and now he's smoking again that definitely is going to be even more evident.

Couldn't care less for Sukekiyo though

  5. Those previews are good as they show they are able to translate the music well into live performances but I'm not really feeling any of the songs :(

Positively surprised at how despite his numerous limitations as a vocalist, Jin is actually pretty decent live (considering how other singers that are considered much superior in the studio can't do half of what he does live).

I risk to say Kyo is the best male vocalist alive. Not only his vocal range is totally absurd, how he expresses his emotions is beyond passionate. And how many vocalists can improve their voices over time like him? Listen to Missa or Gauze and now. He's a monster, almost super human!

BTW I saw some shmuck claiming Kyo's range was G1-C9 on a YT comment.

1 ) The highest note any person ever hit was E8 (and it sounded really bad, the previous record holder that could go as high as Eb8 sounded much better). That's eight semitones below C9, more than half an octave.

    2) While Kyo's has reached G#7 it's definitely not good sounding nor controled. And it's 1 octave and 4 semitones below C9. One octave has 12 semitones btw.

    3) The highest note people from The Range Place count on his range is E6 since people there are really picky when it comes to counting stuff on vocal ranges. That's 2 FUCKING OCTAVES and 8 SEMITONES below C9. A piano only goes up to C8, but if it did go up to C9, this person would get the wrong note for fucking 32 piano keys.

Here's Kyo's profile on The Range Place

Here's an explanation on how vocal range works:

  7. Yeah Kisou sounds pretty ugly but I feel that like Uroboros, it helps to reach the atmosphere they are trying to go for. Marrow not only sounds bad but the production doesn't make the compositions much favor.

I liked the saturated production for the first track of TIW but after a few tracks it was too much for me.

You say "properly" as if he isn't a poser. Brutal isnt about Technique it's about intention. This dude obviously wants to be brutal  but isnt there. Mejibray, the piass and  Aikaryu on the other hand are not and are just making music; so they dont have to be as good Alex terrible, Phil Bozeman, Dickie Allen, ect. they just have to not ruin the heavy/ish instrumental.  Are you saying you prefer new BMTH 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and they're more brutal cause oli wasnt doing unclean properly and had no technique back then? Tsuzuku definitely has a great filthy Piggy lows (body), powerful raw mid screams (body, rare), sinister highs as welll as nices frys(body), and powerful shrieks and Aikaryu has better fry/highs too. Brutal is basically like fashion, you have the ITs, the people wanna be not  ITs (Deviloof, Diru), and the different swag that still serves (mejibray, Aikaryu, the piass).

What do you mean with "body"?

  9. Goddamn it. It really irks me how much there are brainless assholes that still support this dude after all those years of borderline scamming. I once commented "nobody cares, just release the album" on  a FB picture he posted with some random celebrity and a lot of people started attacking me lol

I'm glad to see people here aren't blindly supportive towards him considering the extent some people's fanboying go...

  10. Was expecting the "missing" songs from the original rips to actually be something and they were just SEs. I can get away with one, but three? It's just lazy.

They didn't really add anything to the album, but stand-alonely they were slightly better than the ones on Chedoara.

TMOAB is almost like a finely polished diamond compared to TIW in my opinion... :D They really botched the whole production on the latter one.

I'd rather listen to MOAB because it sucks less than TIW but the bassless production is as bad sounding as the overly-clipped mass of sounds of TIW imo.

I don't know, I never really had a problem with Uroboros' original mix and I think the strange-sounding production actually aids to create the unique atmosphere the album has, but I don't really any issue with the remaster either (except with "Stuck Man" that sounds really weak without the bass as prominment as on the original). I think the best thing the remaster did was enhance the vocals (when the subject matter is vocals alone, I usually recommend people to listen to the remaster because comparatively, the growls are much clearer, the harmonies are crispier) but I see how someone would feel like it lessens the power of the original experience as a whole.

I wonder if we'll ever have another good sounding album by them lol. Even they are mostly sticking to the same production crew for a while, their sound has been getting increasingly worse overall. A band with their importance and influence having only 3 great produced albums out of 10? WTF

That's sincerely why I want them to tour as less as possible to really have the most time to work on studio possible. You can really feel how rushed the whole process for TIW was (not only when it came to production overall, but the writing really felt dumbed down and lacking too). Kinda curious how much they toured in 2007 (the most they ever toured in an year) and 2008 (not as much as they did in 2007) and still came out with something with the scope and complexity of Uroboros in less than two years after Marrow. Maybe they're just old and rich and lazy now?

  12. His harsh vocals are definitely clipping (you know, when they are recorded so loud they distort).

they definately did this on purpose to either create newness or to save this album from getting brutally compared to TMOAB which was accused of being badly mixed and being too raw by a lot of people.

Except TIW is as badly mixed and raw as TMOAB? If there was any intention there I'd argue it was to make a throwback to that Marrow sound.

  13. I don't downright dislike them (I just haven't really liked anything they released yet) but what if they surprise me? I used to find early DIMLIM nearly unlistenable and Che Do A Ra was one of my favorite albums of last year :P They are all great musicians, I really think they might come up with something I like someday

  14. J-rock as a whole has one of the worst fandoms of all genres.

Ironically, a lot of these people also HATE Nu Metal, despite  a lot of songs on Uroboros being straight up way more Korn inspired than even Vulgar.

I fail to see why people compare DeG to Korn so much (that could apply to the whole claims on DeG becoming "westernized" with time since I don't really think they particularly sound like any western band at all). The Korniest thing they ever did was the original "Obscure".

  15. I hope they remaster all their albums (maybe not all of them, Uroboros' remaster is great and I don't think DSS needs to be changed) when they hit the 25th mark. I really wished they did that for the 20th year anniversary thingy instead of all the "Mode of" DVDs. It would be arguably a better cash-grab for them since it's virtually consensus that most of their music is really badly produced (and due to the "Mode of" DVDs being of a very limited run.

  16. Back when they were still on their prime, their heavy stuff was virtually unbeatable. Their attempt at making "heavy" stuff with TIW was just bad, dumbed down and annoying. I remember someone here saying that they should leave the heavy stuff to younger bands because they're doing it better than DeG now and it saddens me, but I agree. I honestly doubt anyone else will ever come up with something the level of Uroboros or DSS, but a lot of bands are pulling the whole extreme/alternative/prog metal(core) thingy better than DeG did with TIW.

I have the issue of Massive from last October I think where they had like a 50 page DEG feature. I’ve only actually skimmed it but Kyo said that they have some left over songs that they didn’t use on The Insulated World because they were too “medium” (in terms of speed or heaviness I think, more like Arche’s style but they wanted to differentiate this album from that one so they made more aggressive songs) but he doesn’t know whether or not they will release them.

I think it's possible, they've "resurected" older songs before (albeit in heavily different forms sometimes). "Conceived Sorrow" and "Revelation of Mankind" were included on the albums that followed the ones they were originally composed for, for example.

  17. WOW Sadew is back! He was definitely the best vocalist the band ever had (he wasn't the best clean singer though). Is the gothic lolita guitarrist (Ryo? Ryu?) still in the band? His singing was awesome, it would be cool to hear him singing again. Haven't really heard anything by the band since that single with Kiki though (even though I heard the music took a nosedive in quality with the male vocalist that followed her).

They'll do an "album release commemoration" live on March 20. I can't recall them doing the same for their previous albums. Could mean that they won't be doing a Budokan show for TIW.

"OMG they are totally disbanding this time"

I'm calling it: we're in for a one-track mini album full of acoustic sounds and soul searching. I'm also likely to be 99% wrong on this.

Seriously though 100% I want they to go as soft as possible. No screaming, no skank beats, no downtuned riffage, no exaggerated kyopera. Just pretty, wholesome music like "Higeki wa..." or "Namamekashiki...". The heavy stuff wore out its welcome.
