  1. I use it as a screening, because 80-90% of what I test out listening to I end up not liking and I delete it.

Before youtube I had no idea how to even find music so I just wandered around the cd store looking at the covers, or typed random words into radio.blog.club and that's what led me from video game remixes to vk.

I would've never have been able to get into it, or even the rest of the music I discovered without piracy.

I support as many independent bands as I can afford on bandcamp, and if I really love an album but can't afford a fair price I usually pay what I can, leave a note saying sorry, and then come back when I can to pay them back fully for giving me the ability to listen to a 20 track album for 3$.

In the art world everything is about word of mouth anyways, especially when you are up and coming. If no one can see or hear your stuff and you just drop a 30$ album, no one will know who you are and nearly no one will be interested.

It'd be like hosting an art gallery of an unknown with an absurd cover charge. Very few will take that gamble.

I think I spend more money on band merch than CDs, but in the end the shirts usually cost 2 or 3 times what the CD did. Which that just comes down to how much space I have to store things.

  2. I'll try anything once, but I know exactly what kind of sounds I like, so if I don't enjoy at least 1 minute of a song then it doesn't pass for me. I never paid a whole lot of attention to genres, but I think I listen to everything except for modern country or radio pop.

    Quote

A song can be authentic and full of energy and performed with character, but if I think that the songwriting sucks, I just won't be able to stick to it, no matter how many times I listen to it.

Also from below, big agreement to that.

  3. Tonight's post is...Bloodborne fanart. I'm not really a fanart kind of person  but the game inspired me enough to.

    The Snatcher

The Orphan of Kos growing up, and Mother Kos (I like those blacklight fuzz boards)

Also, just after one day of different / positive interaction I've already made arrangements with my cousin that I will do a variant cover for a comic for his friend. One step forward two steps forward

  4. Hmm. Innocent Holic and KIDS WAR at least will make good workout tracks. Actually on a second listen I think I'd come to like The Kinky (lol), a lot as another campy song, but just without that chorus jesus, but I like the rest of the vocals in it.

Need to hear the rest of 5, sounds like it gets cut off right when it drops. 1 & 2 are a big ol eh shrug "ok"

    This stuff is INCREDIBLEEEE

I love your style and I'm so glad to hear you managed to pick up the brush again. Hold on to that feeling and don't let it go. My favourite is the 3rd picture, I can see so many different things in that piece. Also your art kind of reminds of the game Ookami, but a more mature version.

Ah, thank you ( : I will do my best...I actually read all these messages in the morning and it motivated me a bit. lol sweet, I loved that game and I'm pretty sure I still have some very shoddy pencil drawings of the Water Dragon, Orochi and Ninetails somewhere.

Wow your stuff is amazing. Very abstract and reminds of the brush strokes from Japanese calligraphy with a touch of Ukiyo-e and Bunjinga art. Were those you inspirations?

Thanks, both my grandma's had a lot of furniture / paintings / snuff bottles around the house with Bunjinga art on them, but it's not something I ever attempted to do myself. Maybe it influenced me subconsciously over time? haha.

Nah, but it may stem from that I used exclusively ink and pens only for a long period of my life I guess. I don't usually think about anything before I begin something personal. (Unless it's a pre-imagined scene, 2nd pic was one of those. but took a year before I even bought a canvas for it lol.)

I love your art! Traditional Japanese style art is my favourite, and you seem to do it really well

Thank you. Ha it's really interesting that people see that in my art, I've really never thought of it to be that way. Maybe it's the colors I use? Being that red with gold accenting is my favorite scheme with pretty much anything + bold black maybe it's unavoidable
My favorite artists are Wayne Barlowe, Denis Forkas Kostromitin, Francis Bacon, Suehiro Maruo and such. I'll magnetize to anyone who makes or sees things in the same vein as me lol

  6. I've been very uninspired for a number of years now, and I really struggle to feel any emotion anymore. Loud music and a whole bloody lot of caffeine are about the only thing that allow me to work, albeit very sterile and not on stuff I enjoy.
Getting back into some sort of community...and getting back to VK instead of listening to the same old music I always do, I hope this can propel me in a more positive direction.

Already I've finally been able to pick up a brush again (or I guess in this case, a paint bottle lid lol) thanks to listening to Sukekiyo so I will start my thread with it, though it is unfinished I am just happy to have done something.

Another canvas I've had sitting under a sheet for almost a year. I hope to actually complete

Something from last August. Gold red black and mossy greens are my main love.

I usually do stuff digitally because it's way more efficient and my wrist nerve is fucked up...but it's way harder to get exposure digitally so I've had to move to paint.

I guess I'll just post one thing per day from now on to not be too spammy. Maybe it will revitalize me further and then I can post new things.

  7. Gotta give it to them for finally getting me to make a new personal art piece for the first time after almost 10 months. Emotion ain't easy to find and bands good enough to foster it even less so.

Welcome to the forum! I'm a huge Kuroyuri fan too, as well as a Kagerou fan

Thanks ( : awesome...I hope all our fan love will bring them back from the inescapable disbandment bandoman death void. (Or at least Mei will start something new, I can dream 8))

Thanks haha, I'll definitely pop over.

hello and welcome :) i like kuroyuri to kage too

Thanks folks, and looking forward to it.
I got 20 some odd cheki of Mei coming in the mail so I'll definitely share those, some costumes I don't think I've seen any pics floating around of.

  10. I haven't participated in a forum community in a long time, because most feel insufferable to be in and No Fun Allowed. I lurked here and it feels like 00's internet community which is awesome. I'm also really interested in music recs, I need a lot of audio fuel to complete my work.

Being my first I listened to, I like Gackt (up to Crescent anyway), Malice Mizer, mixed bag on Kagerou (Shibire Kokoro and XII Dizzy probably my fav).

For new stuff, 黒百合と影 is my absolute dream, I fell in love as soon as I listened and I'm extremely bummed they're gonna split. I haven't agreed to having a new favorite band in at least 8 or 9 years until now...why guys!
Sukekiyo I also love, because I have been chasing after the old MUSE sound and passion ever since they shit the bed in 2009 but never thought I'd find anything close. For me Kyo has it. Hidauta, and Leather Field are my top favorites but it's hard to really choose.
Like some Nocturnal Bloodlust but some sounds too American screamo major key for me. (No I don't really know about terms, just what I like- but I'm sure you get what I mean.) NG+ and Malice Against are favs.

    Mejibray's Raven, (that's it)
DADAROMA, I share the bitter fan sentiment. Love 溺れる魚, Belka and Strelka, some from Stanczyk and Pornograph. I even like Masturbation but for me in meaning it's like some weird inverse of QOTSA "I'm Designer" lol.
    Like some SCAPEGOAT, and 雅

tl;dr I like operatic singing, heavy bass and minor key, unstable? sound. Got any recs for good shit please let me know I'll try anything.

To finish, this is one of my favorite songs of all time. (not VK, but it's obvious why I like Kyo's voice)

    Cheers

  11. I wouldn't hate it so much if it wasn't for that chorus... It doesn't work like it did in Masturbation, at least there I can appreciate the message.
I still can't hate them though if they're really doing what they want and having fun, I guess lol
