BrenGun got a reaction from yakihiko in [REVIEW] Acid Black Cherry – L (Album)
Acid Black Cherry 4th album. A release which is better than my first exceptions.
This album came in 3 versions; I’ll decided to review only the CD only (itunes) version.
Acid Black Cherry, “Janne Da Arc” vocalist yasu solo project is around our hearts for many years already. He creates good music he creates perfect music. This release brings you more calmer songs with a taste of heavy rock.
With “L” yasu proves again that he is a true musician who can write true music. Music which is written with the heart. Music which has a story. Music which is written with time.
What about the already released tracks?
On this album again there are only 4 songs which we already know, for myself I didn’t like 3 of them. Well I liked INCUBUS but, INCUBUS felt as it was not “ready”, not finished. Since it was an introduction to this album. I really did do like GREED GREED GREED, which has such cool rock feeling. The 2 others, Kimi ga inai, ano hi kara… and Kuro neko ~adult black cat~ didn’t get my attention at all, when they where released as a “single”. I didn’t like them.
But are the single songs now enjoyable?
My answer is “YES”. Somehow this album made all 4 single songs good songs. songs who flow easy inside the album. songs who you won’t put off, even if they aren’t liked as “single” songs. It’s a bit strange, but this is what happens more often if you listen to the work of Acid Black Cherry.
What about the new songs? are they enjoyable?
Of course they are, I’m glad that yasu did choose to create more calm rock songs. The music is a bit more lighter. But still with a beautiful rocking sound. There is only 1 new songs which I don’t really like and that song is “Versus G”.
I truly love; Round & Round “L-Eru”, liar or LIAR, Loves, &You. Those lyrics and sound are splendid, very beautiful, songs which really though your heart. And who really made me fall for this album. Also it was a very good choice to put “Round & Round” as the first track on this album. It introduce you calm but with a rock sound inside this album. You won’t get enough of this album after you put this one on!
How does the album really feel?
Even if some of us prefer more the harder rock songs, I still think that everyone can enjoy this album highly. Since this album has so much inside. hard rock, light rock also a slight of pop sound. It has cheerful tunes, it has sad tunes. The lyrics are sad, are happy, it can let you cry, it can let you smile. It is a love album. Some tracks even let you remember of “Janne Da Arc”, but that’s cool! Since some of us really miss them and it always gives a good feeling when those tunes turn up. Also yasu’s voice, it really though your heart in this release. Those who didn’t bought this album, really will regret it.
A slight detail to the sound, song by song:
♪♪♪ heavy rock | ♪♪ hard rock | ♪ soft rock
♪ 01.Round & Round
♪♪ 02.liar or LIAR?
♪♪♪ 03.S&M
♪ 04.Kimi ga Inai, Ano Hi kara…
♪ 05.L-Eru-
♪♪♪ 06.Greed Greed Greed
♪ 07.7 Colors
♪ 08.~Le Chat Noir~
♪♪♪ 09.Kuro Neko 〜Adult Black Cat〜
♪♪♪ 10.Versus G
♪ 11.Nemurenu Yoru
♪♪ 12.Incubus
♪ 13.Loves
♪ 14.& You
As you can notice it is a very calm album with a few more heavy rock tracks.
This album has also not the “electric rock sound” which many visual kei and other kind of bands add to their music. Which I’m really happy with. Because creating an album which sound like “L” is much more special and showing your fans that you really can “create” music.
Which I also did notice by listen to this album over and over is when “& You” ends it actually flows again inside the first track “Round & Round”. You don’t really notice that the album has ended. Which also makes it impossible to put the album off, because if flows over and over.
Album rating:
♥♥♥♥♥
I never did expect such great album after I did listen to the 4 previous singles. I never thought that this album could be so great. Its the best work yasu has given us in his solo carreer. Acid Black Cherry did it again, to publish a great album. It’s not strange that more and more people will like them, because they deliver again and again good music.

BrenGun got a reaction from Tetora in [REVIEW] DAMIJAW - THIS IS MY WING
Last year at 2014.05.21 Janne Da Arc bassist “Ka-yu” released a brand new Mini album with his solo project DAMIJAW. The price of the album cost you only 1,000 yen + tax, which is very cheap for a Japanese release. Everyone was waiting for this new release because his last full album was released on 2012.06.07. The first press of this album came with a beautiful poster which was created with photos of fans.
(Add who I have created )
Ka-yu isn’t just a bassist, you really can hear his bass skills during this whole mini album. You notice his bass-lines because they sound heavy and fast and he always puts much feelings inside. Also he release music with real and good quality and his style is heavy rock. Ka-yu proofs once again that he is one of the most talented bassist which Japan knows.
This mini-album contains 6 beautiful tracks. Every song has their own taste which is played with so much love and power. Everything in the song fits. good vocal, perfect guitar, perfect drum, perfect bass. and perfect solos. The 2 year wait for this mini-album, yes it was worth it, since they did give us something which is made from the heart. The album has a heavy rock taste and also starts with this heaviness, which made it even sometimes possible to headbang on parts of some songs or almost the whole song. But “THIS IS MY WING” is a more soft song, a kind of rock ballad also “I fear silence” is a bit more calm song however still with much heaviness inside, but these 2 songs makes you hear Ka-yu’s clean voice, which is far out beautiful. It really has been a while since I did listen to such great mini-album. It has truly everything inside what an album need. If you are looking for something new and different from many visual kei bands, then please check out DAMIJAW’s THIS IS MY WING.

For me Its crap it will be always crap.
reason.
Its only popular because of the 3 cute girls. that's the only reason.
Its simply jpop mix with metal. aka METAL for people who normally NEVER did listen to METAL before.
Of course some former metal fans do like baby metal but come on man...
=___=
Its crap to me it will be always crap for me. it will be never liked by me.
I rather to listen to some real metal with some not good looking man. XD

BrenGun got a reaction from -timecapsule- in [review] Calmando Qual - Best album Freaks -select collection 2001〜2014-
Review – Calmando Qual Best Album | Freaks -select collection 2001〜2014-
Next year at Janurary 14th Calmando Qual will release their first best album. But is this really the best of the best? I will give you maybe the answer.
Of course you always ask yourself, should I buy a best album? Well I try to give you the answer for this album. I did receive it early thanks to a Japanese friend. (^0^)/
Since we already know all songs, I'm not going to talk about how these songs sound like. So it's a review inside a different jacket.
PRICE: 3,500円 (TAX IN)
BUY: http://darkestlabyri...net/product/612
The album contains 26 full tracks, including one unreleased song.
All others where not easy to get releases for their oversea fans. Hallelujah was never released before. The album duration is 02:01:47 so a bit more than 2 hours playtime. Which is not bad at all.
If you look at the track order then all songs are placed in a good order.
However if you look at the songs did they really pick up the best of the best? My own answer is “no”. Since not all my favorite tracks are on this album.
Hallelujah was never released before, This track was composed by TASC including the lyrics. So this track was a high surprise. The lyric is VERY sexual… a truly 18+ song.
The music is a typical Tasc sounded song. lots of beautiful tunes made with a synthesizer, as we all were used from the Calmando Qual. This song is also a pretty heavy song. (It's still to bad that Tasc has left the band in 2008) I really do love this track and I'm happy that they have released this song on this best album!
But now up to the re-recordings. What are the differences? are they needed to listen too? Well yes, you should 100% check them out at the release date.
Let's start with;
insanity; Do you remember the PV? It’s the PV version. which is different than the version on the silent single.
1st spectrogram insanity SINGLE version; 2nd Best album version
Both songs to compare
So we finally have the PV version in good quality
PARADOX; you can clearly hear the differences if you listen to this track, since there is 0 effect of TASC synthesizer.
This track was already published in 2010 on a V/A. album which was almost impossible to get for oversea fans.
1st spectrogram paradox SINGLE version; 2nd Best album version
Both songs to compare
This retaken version has a very similar spectogram however it's played much more heavy and it's recorded without Tasc.
It's very interesting. The old and new version are both good takes. Its a nice version to also put inside your collection.
UNDEADMAN; It’s the short version, the Single version has a longer into and a bit more extra added BG tunes.
1st spectrogram Best album version 2nd Single version
Both songs to compare
But we already know both versions.
Yugami; The only real difference I notice is the vocal; it’s not edited and a little bit different sung. and the volume of drum, bass and guitar is lesser. Maybe you can call this track a original recored version? It also gives me a way more “LIVE version feeling”, because it sounds like they play this song in front of you.
1st spectrogram Yugami SINGLE version; 2nd Best album version
Both songs to compare
For me the tracks aren’t the best of the best, however, I keep my finger crossed for a next 2 disk best album for another 26 songs. (hopefully only OLD song, I've made a list below)
I still do like this best album, I never really liked “Doors” and “Deadman’s Party”, because of the horror theme sound. Velvet is an alright song, but the other 3 are for me not the best songs. I would have preferred “Chandelier” over “Ghost House”. But these songs stay for me "sound only good at live gigs".
Would I recommend this album to you?, somehow yes and somehow no. Because you simply need to ask yourself one question. Would I spent 3500yen for 4 unreleased tracks? Do I want to be able to read the lyric of hallelujah? If so, then yes you should buy it. However if you don't care about the lyric, then I more recommend you to buy this album digital, and maybe even those 4 tracks only.
If you own their discography like me, it would be a pity if it would be missing inside your collection.
Maybe you like to receive a shop bonus? well here is the list

BrenGun reacted to hitsuji-hime in LIV'ERT PV DVD & new album "ANIMA" release
^ Sucks ASS. Cheap PV, Mukuro's autotuned vocals and muffled screams are godawful, guitars are weak, and drums are too damn loud. I turned it off after only a minute and a half into the video. This band had a lot of potential, until they went to Starwave.
Fuck Starwave. :/

For me it aren't songs to headbang on but more to dance very wild. However the first song also let me think a bit of dieS album "VICTIM".
All 3 songs are wild and fast. Heavy rock feeling but totally no headbang feeling for myself (which will be different for many I guess )
All 3 songs have a similar way of melody they really fit each other to play this single over and over again. \Agato's voice has truly improved if you compare it with their last mini-album.
It also let me think a bit of "CELL" mix of dieS and CELL.
I don't really know what to write more about this single. I really like this single. I will buy this single on a CD soon enough. because its worth the money.
If it was maybe a bit more Heavy I would have given it 5 stars

BrenGun got a reaction from Elazmus in LI'VERT - ANIMA
We know that LI'VERT is already a while under us and today they released their first album ANIMA. And they give us 5 new songs and 1 SE.
I will only talk about the new tracks.
01. Appearance (SE)
02. Dim the animus (New Song)
03. Circle of sorrow
04. Anemone (New Song)
05. Seijaku no Toge (New Song)
06. Regret
07. Alive
08. Shinkirou (New Song)
09. Proof of Waste
10. Psycho
11. Rasen (New Song)
The CD start with a really cool strong and nice SE. It's really played good, its fades over into Dim the Animus. Which also has a strong melody however without grunting. only clean vocal. But Mukuro vocal~ It sounds as he actually cannot sing and that he should improve his vocal skills asap. Maybe he had a cold? or totally not his day? while recording? Because when you hear him sing in REGRET then his voice is fabulous.
Up to the next new song; Anemone it's a calm song still with heaviness inside but pretty calm. But once again vocal.......
Up to the next new song; Seijaku no Toge again not such heavy song also no grunting only "clean singing" however again he fails in the vocal part. But the melody of this song is good again.
Up to the next new song; Shinkirou Muroku clean vocal sounds a bit better in this song, but there is also grunting in this song and that sounds much better but little bit powerless. But the melody of this song is a little bit boring. It could have more HEAVYNESS inside its a bit too calm too prudent.
Up to the next new song; RASEN, his singing voice, bad again. And the melody is boring. Its nothing special. its not even a cool melody. its to simple. they could write such more cooler song.
Its not LI'VERT best release.
Mukuro really failed on "real" singing. I guess he really did not had his day?! But the quality of the melody is very good. Your really can hear that the band knows what they are doing. And that makes it able to listen even if the vocal sounds so horrible. You still can headbang and Heavy dance very good on this album. Hopefully Mukuro improves is vocal skills at their next release. Because then this band really would make amazing music. And hopefully their next songs will be much more HEAVY. not so much calm songs. LI'VERT still stays a band for more GRUNTING and more brutal melody.
Still fun to see a bit of different side of LI'VERT but it was simply to soon to go on "only singing" for their new songs. since Mukuro really should improve in singing first. But I'm very curious to their next work. and hopefully they will come with more HEAVY shit.
RATING:

I listen since I wrote that review all time to this single. Its so good. I never thought Kazuha would give this kind of flow to this band. (since I didn't like him in Sound Bee and Blood at all) But he totally gave Tokami a good vibe again.
Hopefully more people will check Tokami out! They truly turned into something really good!~

Thank you for the review and link to hearing it. I hadn't given these guys a listen in ages, but I keep them in mind because of those brilliantly awful vocals from Agato. x'D I'm interested now having read you said it's an improvement and wow, you weren't lying. It's a lot more bareable then past songs and flows surprisingly well in all 3 tracks. I must have been listening to their worst tracks! They're all pretty awesome in this release!

BrenGun reacted to Gaz in SaTaN will be indefinitely on hiatus
i've never watched that movie so i don't know what are you talking about. however i disagree about him being way better in BLOOD. for me BLOOD is just a garbage in comparison to SaTaN. though i liked few songs of them.
anyway the hiatus or even a disbandment doesnt mean that he will start doing "different" music. judging by his solo cd it actually sounds like lighter version of SaTaN.
also it's noticeable that their releases as two-piece band were a bit weaker than old ones. i definitely dont want to see them decaying so i wont be very upset about disbandment i guess...
