  1. teach me senpai

    I'm not really actively studying Japanese atm, but I do tend to look up certain phrases and study up on some katakana to read band/character names ;w;

    This is what I've been using to study katakana. The main site has a multilingual keyboard where you can also input characters of other languages (like Arabic, German, etc.), but on the Japanese onscreen keyboard, it shows what the characters mean, like モ for "mo", etc. You can scroll down to the bottom half of the page, where it'll show instructions, and also has an option to convert the katakana text to romaji (you can also do this with kanji and hiragana texts)~ There's also a page for kanji and hiragana, although kanji is much more complex since you have to type the sound of the first kanji rather than get help from an onscreen keyboard.

    This Twitter account not only shares lessons on characters, but also of casual and formal phrases~ Like they'll put up a phrase in Japanese, and then rewrite it in Romaji and English. They also tweet about homophones, vocabulary, formal and casual speech, and show videos of short quizzes. They also offer quizzes via email, and even Skype sessions. I'd totally take some quizzes if I had the time or motivation ;w;

    What happened with the Beautiful Freaks era is a combination of things I think. I sort of blame Kyo as well for some of their bad decisions, I mean he was credited as producer on their releases back then. Kyo and Gara weren't even speaking for years, but then Kyo reached out to him after Merry had left Victor and were in disarray, and I think him caring and wanting to help made Gara a bit too prone to his suggestions. I do think Kyo is brilliant in his own way and I appreciate him helping Merry get started on their career, but he really shouldn't be meddling in their music at this point. That's why I'm happy he started Sukekiyo, since he clearly doesn't have any time or interest in getting involved anymore. Thank heavens for that! It's not all his fault though. From what I've read in interviews, the members were well aware that they'll never be able to outdo the brilliance of their eary compositions, so that's why they were trying to find a new direction, but it didn't really work out. Heijitsu no Onna is the product of realising you should stick to what you're good at. The period around the switch to Free-Will was also a generally miserable time for them. They didn't particularly want to join Free-Will, the fans absolutely hated it, Gara was having constant problems with his back, people close to them were dying and just when things started looking up, Tetsu broke his neck and was out for years. It's not like BF is even close to unlistenable, the basic song-writing is still there, but the arrangements are just too simple and the sound all muddled and boring. Merry is not the kind of band who should be sending their tracks to Sweden or where ever to be finished either. It's of no benefit to them.

    the way you worded this just gives me chills

    with all the shit that they've been through, it's a MIRACLE that they're still together; most bands would disband over the slightest thing that goes wrong. Beautiful Freaks was my first album and I love it to bits, but now I truly understand the stigma around it; it was a complete change to their style that they weren't completely cool with. So glad Kyo's kinda out of the picture...

    Happy life was bland af, but Heijitsu no Onna was great, so I'm glad they're being themselves again~

    ▼Announcement of Resignation from Chateau Agency
    This past spring, Kaya began working with Chateau Agency, but now for personal artistic reasons, he has left Chateau Agency effective October 31st, 2016.
    Due to this, the second and third singles Kaya had planned have been cancelled.  He deeply apologizes to everyone who was looking forward to these releases, but he hopes you can understand his decision.

    ▼A message to everyone from Kaya
    Thank you for all your support.
    I have left Chateau Agency.
    I learned a lot spending half a year together working with KAMIJO, who is a very passionate artist.  From here on out, I will create songs in my own way with a new perspective.
    Furthermore, I will devote myself to producing great songs and artistic endeavors.  I hope I can continue to count on your support.
    All my love.  11/4/2016
