Vo. 京 (DIR EN GREY) Gt. 匠 (ex. Rentrer en Soi) Gt. UTA (ex. 9GOATS BLACK OUT) Gt. YUCHI (kannivalism) Dr. 未架 (ex. Rentrer en Soi) sukekiyo’s formation, debut album, and recent live shows have all generated a lot of discussion lately. As such, I thought it would make sense to finally give the band its own thread here in the artists forum, rather than having discussions split across the IMMORTALIS news thread, IMMORTALIS review thread, and Dir en grey artist thread. Obviously new announcements and reviews of releases should still be done in their respective forums, but all of the other stuff can go here instead of derailing those threads. Some questions and points of discussion to get the ball rolling How do you feel about sukekiyo as a whole? Are you a fan of the band? Do you think it’s being overhyped? What do you think of their recent live performances having a specific dress code? Does it suit the atmosphere of their music more or does it turn you off? Are the comparisons between sukekiyo and DIR EN GREY inevitable or justified? Do you think the desire to compare the two will die down once the novelty of 京 being one of the members wears off? To what extent do you consider sukekiyo to be 京’s ‘solo project’? Is it fair to use such a term when it appears that the other members also seem to have considerable influence on the band's music? What would you like to see from the band in the future? Do you expect it to be a full time project?

All i can say is i don't know what you people were expecting when they announced this. It sounds good and i think they've captured the atmosphere of old vk really well. I don't understand why people are so critical of anything new and act as if their old songs are perfect little gems and nothing can be done to improve them. I've heard bands pull off the whole "Lo-fi" thing better too, Madeth gray'll and Misery come to mind.

By the way people, in case you're interested in (original) composers of each IMMORTALIS song, here's the interview in ameblo with per-song analysis http://ameblo.jp/712031/entry-11847194786.html so here's the list: Elisabeth Addict - Takumi (he did the original song 5 years ago, apparently) mostly + Kyo and small input by other members (at least according to Barks.jp) Destrudo - Takumi (around the same period with "Elisabeth"?) Latour - UTA Nine Melted Fiction - UTA Zephyr - Takumi (obviously) Hidden one - YUCHI (also, Mozart reference in the solo) Aftermath - YUCHI Uyuu no Sora - Takumi The Daemon's Cutlery - YUCHI Scars Like Velvet - UTA Mama - Kyo Vandal - UTA (obviously) Hemimetabolism - Takumi and Kyo Kugui - UTA Madara Ningen - the whole band as far as I understood? In All Weathers - Takumi and Kyo

I don't like the new version either. I find all of the changes they made questionable and the "improved" production really takes away the magical quality the original had, which is why I'm not too big on the idea of an album full of remade songs when it's Ruellia. In my opinion Ruellia did the Lo-fi right and a lot of their character came from their casette hiss and atmosphere created by the production, but now that it's clearer, their sloppy musicianship is exposed in a bad way. That thing that replaced the solo is just fucking terrible and the prominent piano sux. The new song is alrite, though the generic vk intro gives off bad vibes. I'll try to sit on it for a while before making a judgement though, since one tends to hold new tracks under more scrutiny than something that would already have been in their back-catalog - especially if it's some old band making a comeback ( which that has been surprisingly good so far ).

YouTube maybe? People do remixes on there all the time and link people to their pages etc. You're idea is awesome by the way, I really love the song up until the middle section.

No one mentioned 'Secret Garden'? Sheesh. Latest atm favorites so far (no, nothing new here tbqh, zzz): Secret Garden (obv) Me Too, Flower! (main actor-wise totally superior to "Flower Boy Next Door") Myung Wol the Spy (tacky concept but main actress is just unf) I really feel saddened in terms of J-dramas, considering that I ditched most of them right after a few episodes (say, Shitsuren Chocolatier or much earlier "Itazura Na Kiss - Love in Tokyo" for eg. (I had high hopes for those two)) - any proper J-dorama recommendations WITHOUT ANY TIES to manga/anime genre pls?

So this is kind of weird but I created an edit of "hemimetabolism" without the loud middle section. I like the original song but I really like the calm and relaxing mood of the beginning and end and wanted version I could listen to with just those parts. It's a simple cut and paste with some fade in and outs to make the transition clean and cuts the song to about 3 minutes. I was just wondering if anyone wanted the edit or if this was even allowed if I were to upload it.

I'm not surprised that the only vk band you don't like is an all female band, misogynist

secretly waiting for either aoi joining them back and hiring his session members as fulltime ayabies or ryohei's comeback & megamasso disbanding all within next 6 months this epic band can not just stop like that, there would be a 3 years money milking kaisan campaign followed by member's retirement from vk && also can't wait to hear yumehito's jpop solo project, I wonder if we get another takeru with that one I think AYABIE is the new panic channel except w. shitty post 2005 music
