Don’t know if there is a topic like this, but I realized a good portion of some of my favorite bands and plenty of other great ones - are officially releasing albums this year. There were way too many to mentally keep track of so I wrote them down. The results are below and was the inspiration for the topic. So what are albums everyone else is looking forward to or interested in hearing?

I'm eager to hear the new Best Coast - Crazy For You was a great album, with all it's sun-kissed fuzzy pop songs, and I hope that a 'more grown-up' and 'emotional' album won't mean, that they won't play some songs from the vein of Boyfriend or When I'm With You. Also, the new Japandroids album will be most likely a nearly perfect album, just as the new Jimmy Edgar - XXX wasn't my favourite album from him, but the recently popped up songs like Switch Switch restored my faith in him. I think the first 'real' A$AP Rocky album should come out this year too.

EDIT: Also, new Marina & The Diamonds album at the end of the month!

The upcoming Swans album will decimate everything else, and it's most likely the only new album I end up buying this year.

Of course looking forward to new Ruki pics for fashion advice! ... erm well I guess the album that comes with it could have a decent track or two in it, maybe.

The first Swallowed album is also coming out this year, and it has a 50/50 chance of being art or just another hobbyist metal release that nobody will give a fuck about in two years, just like almost everything else metal related that's going to be released this year.

New Beherit and Summoning albums could come out late this year, however it is unlikely.

In terms of japanese stuff I'm definetely looking forward to the new Buck-Tick album and whatever Luna Sea might put out. Also, that album by NightingeiL + La'Mule collab/new band/whatever sounds highly interesting.

For non-japanese stuff it's a bit difficult.... my interests are kinda all over the place which makes it difficult to follow up on newly announced releases because there's not like one place I could go to to keep up-to-date, like MH for my japanese interests. Plus, a huge bunch of my favourite bands just released an album within the last year (Tenhi, Týr, Amon Amarth, Thy Catafalque), so there won't be something from them in a while.

But I think Anathema, Unleashed, Harmaja and Ihsahn are releasing new stuff, so that's something to look forward to. Oh, and the upcoming Soundtrack for "Journey" sounds very very tasty.

And Ensiferum seem to be recording new stuff, but I don't know when that will be released.
