I don't think it bothers me nearly as much as it used to because I think it's been long enough that people actually take me seriously now (that and I started wearing makeup which makes me look older), but it's something that I'm always reminded of. Oh well, I'm the same height as you in heels so I guess that's not too bad seriously, 157cm makes me feel like a giantess. Ahaha, wow, 151cm? I bet you're the tiny rage-fest kind of cute person? XD The only time it really bothers me, is in business matters. I have quite a responsible and high-up position, and me looking all of 15 doesn't make it easier to get people to take me seriously. But yeah, make up is your best friend when you need to look older. I remember a youtube tutorial by Lisa Eldridge on how to look older, for baby-faced people like us, a holy grail of knowledge! 1 Gesu reacted to this

I personally can't see it as anything else than "yes, still get asked, not looking old af" hahahaha EDIT: also, ha, I see I have some fellow short people (163cm which suddenly didn't feel super short lol) Edited August 8, 2019 by SubThatSong

Kuro 45 Posted August 8, 2019 When I started working with elementary school students (I'm not a teacher it was more about teaching them how to use a PC more than ten years ago because most teachers were rather old and had no clue of it but it had to be taught), being the middle of my 20s back then and 154 cm I really was afraid about being taken seriously. It worked but kids are different from adults I guess. At least my voice ain't high therefore it's pretty low in volume because I'm shy and an introvert and that doesn't help with talking to others and I have to prepare myself before to talk loud enough. It worked better with the kids back then and after them getting to me and the other way around things settled pretty fine (I can talk pretty loud when I feel comfortable). But talking in low volume doesn't help with people taking me as serious as they should now, too. And I guess being that short always just made people even think more I'm quite younger than I am. 1 1 Gesu and spockitty reacted to this

I want to work with children in the future (as a paediatric therapist) so it's a relief to know they tend to take you more seriously than adults do. That being said, I'll probably be working with their parents too and it's them I'll most likely need to get through to more than anyone. I don't want them looking at me like I'm their kid bossing them around. 😕

Your partner shouldn't demand to know who you're with/where you are at all times, or demand to have access to your phone and computer. They shouldn't be dictating which friendships you cut out or keep. A healthy relationship is one where both people can be themselves without fear of judgement. One where you or the things you like won't be put down and minimised, instead you can learn from each other. There's a constant open dialogue and you can both express your feelings freely without fear of retaliation in the form of petty or abusive behavior, you'll work through any problems that arise together. But expecting your partner to be your everything and heal all your issues is a slippery slope. They're there to support you in becoming the best version of yourself, not be your savior. It's a give and take. Honestly, communication is so important but so overlooked. I could write an essay on this, but to me those are the basics of a healthy relationship. This. But I'll add that when friends have no respect for their friend's partner and cross the line several times without them seeing, the partner has every right to ask their significant other to cut back on that friendship/put some healthy distance for the sake of their relationship. Part of being a good partner is not allowing your friends to flirt with you or be disrespectful and make your partner uncomfortable. 1 1 Gesu and spockitty reacted to this

Like we talked in a pretty lax way but I'm also pretty strict regarding rules. It's easier to show this to a kid. Convincing adults that think of you still being a child/teen/adolescent might be harder. On the other hand, if you work for a company and not self-employed you got hired and therefore must be qualified.

colorful人生 2777 Posted August 9, 2019 I don't think at any point in the last 5+ years I've had any urge to eat at BK other than today. The closest location to me was part of the "Impossible Burger" locations, so I grabbed one. As someone who doesn't regularly eat burgers, I found the whole thing indiscernible from standard fast-food fare aside from the lack of grease (which was a positive for me.) So yeah, I dig the fake meat.

spockitty 643 Posted August 9, 2019 anyone else gets stuck on one song, and then proceeds to listen to it on repeat until they hate both themselves and the song? that's also why I don't like having passengers in my car, because I can spend a 40 minute drive listening to the same song on repeat~ 1 3 nullmoon, ShTon, colorful人生 and 1 other reacted to this
TheZigzagoon 670 Posted August 9, 2019 (edited) On Monday I got high and I started having a panic attack and instead of telling my friend I just knelt down further and further to the floor until I was almost sit/squatting and I got major giggles when I realised this and it calmed me down Fun times 👌 Edited August 9, 2019 by TheZigzagoon 2 1 Gesu, YuyoDrift and nullmoon reacted to this

secret_no_03 959 Posted August 10, 2019 Are Japanese children as annoying, unruly, loud and problematic as American? Is it just a kids all over thing or are children in places like Japan, China and South Korea more bearable?

Is it just a kids all over thing or are children in places like Japan, China and South Korea more bearable? According to what I learnt in my psychology class, they're socialised differently. They tend to be separated from their mothers far less often and, as a result, they also tend to be clingier. I guess their collectivist, family-oriented culture would add to that. As for annoying/unruly/loud/problematic in general, I'm not too sure. 1 secret_no_03 reacted to this

Karma’s Hat 3107 Posted August 13, 2019 I fucking can’t sometimes. I hate nothing than when you have to buy bus or train tickets only at the station because who the fuck knows if it’ll be already fully booked or whatever and then you’ll be spamming ubers for nothing. Today I tried to be clever and booked a bus to Moldova from Ukraine online and when I arrive to the station it turns out they cancelled it and according to the desk I should’ve known about this because they farted out the information on the speakers two hours ago. Why would anyone be at the station two hours in advance? At least the wifi works lol 1 Gesu reacted to this
