The Cost of Being VK

I’ve been actually wondering about this for a while now, but does anybody know or have a good estimate on how much VK bands spend on their attire/clothing and stuff like makeup and hair? I recall people saying it was a couple of thousands dollars, but I can’t say if that’s true or not. It seems kinda right. I’m mostly just curious.

I heard Xodiack spent about 10k on their costumes and recordings and made none of that back because of illegal downloads.

I know that Panic Channel got their costumes made for free by Mind Circus. And you can actually buy costumes like theirs from Mind Circuses site and when I was browsing, this dress Meguru was modeling in(It was used as his costume for a while as well) total about $1200, not including stuff like accessories.

But Some VK artists have friends that sew their costumes(for free) and some sew their own.

And for some they pay to have people draw out what they are going to make and etc.

Quite many vk-artists do their own make-up and hair. At least the smallest bands do it on their own because well, lol, why would you pay for someone to do something you can do yourself when you might not even have the money to live on your own.

I remember Jimi had a blog entry about how Chemical Pictures just had to work in a store for a day or two promoting some brand and was given free costumes for their work.

I think it depends really on what connections people have. Some get free stuff, some pay out the nose and others make the costumes themselves.

^ yea CPS's former member Jimi said stuff about artist friends making their PVs for free and stuff like that, and then not making any profit from CD sales & live shows.

And then there's an interview with Ayabie's Takehito on Rock & Read about when he was still in college, also doing band & part time job at the same time. He was so broke that he'd steal 10-yen coins from the register when the surveillance cam isn't at him and then return them on his payday. Classic.

you can lurk around for h. Naoto/sex pot revenge prices, but with shoots/PVs I'm pretty sure bands are rented clothing for free because it basically promotes brands to teenagers;

zoro has been noted with vivenne westwood accessories when they just started in a flawless british style, that I'm almost 100 % sure was paid by the label (since VW never made it back in their pics after that...)

by the way, is it true that band members put their fav brand names on the profile pages so tsuganari could give them appropriate presents, and Satsuki was ltr caught re-giving his fan presents to his GF who posted pics on mixi and everyone went bawwwwww?

Basicaly just said that they were waiting for demachi, when some staff member came outside and asked some girl if she wanted to sleep with Satsuki, but she said no and apparently everyone thought she was crazy for saying no. But that's really all there is to it.
