Lmao I love Dokusatsu Terrorist's lyrics too. They have a song that's "my daughter is a bangya" and it's hilarious. Serious note though my favorite would have to be HaL from Minus Jin-Say Orchestra. Some examples of my favorite lyrics of his would be 少女、時々雨。 鳥人間たかし ヰらない子 うた歌い筆を折って I like Kazuki from XAA-XAA's lyrics too but it's a bit simplistic and redundant at the same time.
  2. Definitely agree with what Tetora said. I think their older sound was more cohesive but recently it's definitely all over the place--but while I recognize the talent none of the newer stuff was really my thing. and re: CRIMZON I'm also wondering. Because actually it was CRIMZON and Rozetta that were sister labels and Rozetta bit the dust since Belmosaic and RevleZ both broke up. So now CRIMZON will only have Purple Stone and it doesn't seem like after all this time they're about to sign a new band? also, I agree about ARTLESSNESS BOY. I hope to hear it one more time...(T_T)
  3. Maybe this is just me but I have no idea what M-ON! is? What is it?
  4. Lol yeah they were bashing XAA-XAA hardcore after that..
  5. CD sales =/= ticket sales. Fans in japan buy more than one copy of the same CD. What's more important is people actually attending concerts. And one reminder that they were on the downward swing was at a little hearts live where the band with the most fans there that day for them would be able to play again the next day with the ~big name lineup~. everyone thought shounenki would win (at least everyone but xaax fans) and they were even set to play last (a sign that management thought so too--so they could just stay on stage during the announcement). It was XAA-XAA that won. A band that wasn't even a year old had managed to get more fans at a concert than shounenki.
  6. Not surprised in the slightest but I guess this means I will go to the osaka oneman afterall... I just hope they play songs I actually know/like. They've been really low energy for a while & if I'm not mistaken losing fans.

^ nice ensoku flyer :') Got my hands on Minus Jin-Say Orchestra's newest single Also, not a purchase, but pictured: Ensoku's Shishamo Power X (received for going to their oneman)
  8. In the end it looks like I won't break 30 for Souiumono--even if I go to the last live I'd be at 29 concerts for them.

  9. on the other hand i'm pretty underwhelmed..just like i've been since seraphim. though bomb x bomb x bomb did finally grow on me. i was away from the comp when it started playing and i didn't recognize 怨念少女 at first (which actually happens to us every time they play it live we all take a while to realize wtf they are playing) and tbh i think i prefer the original version
  10. They're fuckin hilarious. More specifically, amon is hilarious. He talks more than they play and they had to cut the fourth song. They only played three on the 20th. Not really my style but they were decent and we got the live distribute cd that's the way it goes down or w/e and like a ten page explanation of the band and the songs. I'd go see them again.

ok well, if we're talking about popular in general, like most people have said already, very few VK bands are popular in Japan. But if we're talking about within VK in general then I think it's easier to answer the question. dir isn't VK but are still incredibly popular. From what I can tell Arlequin is losing popularity while Pentagon is gaining it (& these two things are related). btw, D.I.D is *not* popular in any sense of the word. To be honest, D.I.D is only popular on MH. Their small fanbase is shrinking and even D.I.D's long term fans are finding it hard to follow them lately from what I can tell. But tbh my knowledge is not within the "popular within VK" spectrum. The bands I go see are much smaller. But I do comment quite regularly on how well bands are doing..it just doesn't matter because the bands I like are so small lol The first time I saw Oneness I knew they would be breaking up within a year (I was right) because of how poor the turnout was. Apparently they'd lost a lot of fans. It didn't get any better and they had to keep down grading live houses for their onemans. And their final oneman tour was like a move of desperation with pair tickets--two people could go in on one ticket. Shounenki is losing fans too. It's pretty evident looking at their onemans live house choices. They went up to O-WEST/WWW size (500~600) and their next one is at Takadanobaba AREA (350? 400?). Souiumono lost *a lot* of fans. They did OK at BLAZE (900 cap) but then when they tried to do duo (1000) it was less than half full. I've been predicting they'd break up for like a year.......... :/ They're breaking up in April. XAA-XAA has gained an insane amount of popularity considering their first live was a oneman at a place where the cap was like 150 and it was like *maybe* half full and a year later they sold out Osaka MUSE (350? cap). They're probably the most popular indies band in their general level in Osaka rn. (I mean like they're of course not as big as FEST lol). A lot of fans of other bands are bitter about it. Shounenki gya are especially bitter.

he plays live too unless something changed when they quit VK lolol My thoughts were Yuya from DOF and Satoshi from Yeti as well. Hana Shounen Baddies' Baku played guitar for a couple songs. However, I don't quite remember if he does for very berry (I haven't seen them in a year lol). Cradle's Reno played guitar for a couple songs live too as well. XAA-XAA's Kazuki plays tambourine for one song lololol ADAPTER。's Fukusuke plays guitar, theremin, and deals with his DJ equpiment. Dacco has a song where both Lida and Yura-sama play guitars. Souiumono's SACCI has played guitar on rare occasion as well but he admittedly can't sing while playing lol So it just turns into an instrumental thing when he does. N@H's yukkie played guitar and sang. that's all I can really think of off the top of my head.

tbh i wasn't a fan, but they were okay live imo. But since no one has brought it up: ok so first picture says 二千十六年七月 公開 (july 2016 open to the public) but the second one has 2016.04.02 so I am curious what each date actually means.

ZETSURIN HAGUKI finally became a real thing so I wanted to get the CD. Got the Minus Jin-Say Orchestra flyers while at Like an Edison too (they finally have flyers!) + the new years comment DVDs. picked up something from The Benjamin. I think their first release? Idk. It was in the 100yen bin at little HEARTS. ヴァリル was also in the 100 yen bin and I remembered enjoying them so I grabbed their two CDs too. Sel'm was also in the 100yen bin so I figured I'd grab that. Hana Shounen Baddies Ballerina PV + most of the ADAPTER。 items were ~300yen at puresound. And then 村八分DISCO MUSIC 01 is some Minus Jin-Say Orchestra rare that cost an arm and a leg :') So much for saving money.
  19. cali gari session with HaL as vocals is like a dream come true. filled with so much regret from not going.

you know me. I definitely agree on XAA-XAA. And I'm happy to see it was kowai kurai too. I know a lot more people are leaning toward shinitai but imo kowai kurai is their strongest and most cohesive release to date ww

Oh man I miss Cradle and Oneness so much. They were both so fun. Hiz I've seen twice and was impressed both times! I still need to look into recorded things though. Recommendations...? I was so close to putting ALL THE XAAX in there but I figured I'd be too redundant. I do want to give a nod to 花占い though because wow such a great song. And yesssssss Hysteric Panic ♡ That CD was so good. lololol @ syuma. He always just ends up dicking around during the furi videos. Yes, I like GAGA! I honestly have listened to 恍惚の花 a lot more. I can't recall any songs from 籠絡 and for a while I thought I didn't have it until I remembered I bought it back in September. At first I honestly wasn't that impressed by Dadaism #1 but it grew on me a lot. Fingers crossed with ザアザア! I'm hoping for 名も無き空へ to be on it and rerecorded because the original recording quality is not so good actually... I'm not surprised! I often feel like I'm off in outer space in relation to what I like and what the overseas VK fans are drawn to. DADAROMA's pretty good but I honestly would have to say that is my least favorite release out of the ones I have listed. But I'd say that most of the bands I have listed are nothing like DADAROMA so if you decide to check any of them out I wouldn't go in expecting that. lol and that doesn't surprise me at all either. I knew you'd feel me :') Yeah it was a toss up between 心中 and コワイクライ but after I got over the recording quality sasuga me I couldn't help but choose MJO. ララララ and 花占い are my fav songs from the year though.
  22. they're completely different from all the other bands on terakoya--Ensoku, Minus Jin-Say Orchestra, Otome Kokka. It's just bizarre.

Thought I'd join the party. I didn't put the same artist multiple times in any given category. I doubt that anything will be too terribly shocking here.
