  1. It really depends on the musical genre, the type of the CD and how the band delivers, therefore the musical quality of an album. Personally, a shitty ~30 minutes album will seem endless torture to me till I decide switching to listen something else. As well as a +100 minutes long-ass album will seem short to me if I enjoy it and the music is pure gold. So yeah, it really depends.

But in general, something between 40-60 minutes is perfect to me.

  2. Probably, can't say.

Well, I mean I really enjoyed the acoustic version of Gone but The Story didn't really amaze me tbf. Of course we do, btw I absolutely love the original versions so yeah! Haha.

As you're speaking about Masato's vocals, I absolutely loved how he improved and with Vena he really reached a huge level. Really impressive.

Yeah, it's not easy to get their stuff without paying a ridiculous amount of money. That's why one should cease the chance when they're touring overseas.

I hope they come back overseas soon! If you do get a chance, I really suggest it! I was surprised the first time I saw them here in the States, because they were so good. I really like Vena, and I don't think there's a song I don't like from them.

I hope they headline their own tour tbh.

Will do for sure! I heard it's really worth paying to see them live, I'm curious as hell.

They headlined in Europe the last time they came btw, which is pretty huge tbh. Respect to them, they're going places the right way and the best way. Need a new album from them asap.

  4. Did a research but couldn't find a thread about the band, I'm shocked. Haven't seen them live yet, but I'll certainly do the next time they'll be touring in Europe. Their latest album is bloody amazing and so is their discography. My fav albums are probably Vena and The Revelation + all their mini-albums.

  5. A reason why I love tops is that they're always different and it allows me to discover albums/bands I never heard of. And the potential discoveries on this one are huge!

It feels so good to see someone else giving the due credit to Triangle, as the album deserves. One of the greatest releases in 2016 (clearly the best, for me) and one of the most overlooked ones. Also glad to see Moonsorrow and Spellcaster on your top!

As for Kodama, I couldn't get into it after the first spin (even though it was undeniably good) so I'll be re-listening to it very soon.

Great and very well displayed top!

I've been thinking a bit about how this reminds me heavily of Girugamesh...

But, at least with Giru, the sound they were going for was just a super light Giru, whereas this...

I'm not the only one that thought the exact same thing, then. Tried to defend OOR the same way I did with Giru but when they went somewhat pop-ish, it felt like in the next album they'd try something else (and hell, they surely did. that's my giru). Sadly I don't feel the same way about OOR... it's so obvious that they're going for the easy way. They seem lost in easiness.

I really hope I'm wrong though, I really hope so.

And if this what they want, well then, I surely won't be following them on their journey.

  7. Finally listened Coven. Well, I can't exactly give a proper opinion on the album even though it made me want to re-listen it. I enjoyed it as long as it kept me hooked. It is really a difficult listening due to its length but it's definitely something interesting and worthy of your time. Need to familiarize myself with their sound a little more. Will be back on it in my future posts.

This band just knows how to do a cover, don't they? The cover of Grave's Soulless is also really fucking good, although not quite as good as this. This sounds 100% Moonsorrow, but those of us who are familiar with the original will also be able to recognize the track. Just how you're supossed to do a cover. It sounds so huge and epic. Class!

Moonsorrow is one of those very fre bands where I'd love to hear a full cover album.

Absolutely! They didn't only release one of the best albums of 2016 but they've also did two amazing covers. Loved this one too, colossal tribute to RC.

A full cover album would be great yeah!

And yeah, Fimbulwinter was one of my fav albums that came out in 2014. Need to re-listen it though, kinda forgot how it sounded like.

Gutted about the bad news from Vektor. Hoping things will turn out well for Dave and the band.

Btw, just noticed I haven't posted my top albums of 2016 (when ironically I was the one who asked y'all to post it haha)

  9. ^ Same. Hoping to hear some interesting and somewhat different stuff from the recent releases.

Just listened the new Gotsu Totsu Kotsu. Holy shit. Man. 65 minutes of amazing death metal, with some fucking sick bass-lines and mental riffages.

I absolutely love it, didn't hesitate to put it on my top 10 which I'll be posting today or in the next few days.

  10. Anyone here watching Zoo?

Started that tv show when the first season was almost finished airing and I enjoyed it a lot despite lacking of some coherence and a few characters being awful at acting. It started getting better and better and the 2nd season is really good, the characters are all awesome. I'm glad I started watching this.

Can't wait for the next episode of Vikings, the progression of events are kinda slow but I'm sure shit's going to get serious very soon hehe.

Also stoked for the next episode of Gotham coming up in January. Can't wait, it's going to be awesome. Amazing tv show!

Will probably start watching the second season of Narcos in the next few days too.

  11. I get what you mean dude, and gotta say I totally agree with you. I mean yeah, seeing a band you listen to covering one of your fav bands is always nice but the cover has to be original otherwise it is indeed pointless to cover it. Anyone who plays guitar or any other instrument can cover a song, but giving it your own refreshing touch is how you do it.

Never knew Moonsorrow covered Metallica and that sounds fucking great! Damn, I love it. And it's true, if I had never knew about Metallica I wouldn't have noticed it's a song that was written by them. That's crazy.

If I had to give an example, it would definitely be Nathrakh's cover of Powerslave, absolutely brilliant stuff. Gotta say I never expected this before checking the song out, woah. Unreal.

Can't think of another cover right now but I'll definitely post one when something else comes to mind.

  12. Well, to me it depends which band they're paying tribute to, and in this particular case Summoning are fucking huge and a sufficient reason to be stoked (as I am). I usually don't care that much about tribute albums too, but when it's Summoning related stuff, man, gotta keep an eye on it!

For Eldamar, well, the female vocals are fucking overused and it gets somewhat annoying. But otherwise, I love their sound, to each his own.

And DUDE, finally someone who mentions Nazgul! That album is absolutely epic! Need another release from these guys asap. They're not fucking around.

I have 0 problem with the vocals as well, I think they're great.

There are still similar stuff I gotta listen to though, like the new Sejourner album for which I heard good comments.

A friend of mine lately recommended me to check out Unreqvited's album. I liked it, a bit dull to my ears overall but it's good stuff.

Also came across a band named "Death Fetishist", and as funny as the name is, I didn't expect to like the album so much. The cover art is cool too.

  13. ^ this album is on my "to listen" list and now that you've talked about the band, it made me wanna check the hell out of that album. Will do right away!

I've been listening to a lot of Summoning lately and I can't wait to check out the tribute album that will be released on the 15th

Can't wait to listen to Caladan Brood's cover, them fuckers had to take one of my fav tracks hehe.

Also the rest of the tracklist is amazing and the bands that'll cover the songs are amazing, I'm so fucking stoked.

And I'm sure that Eldamar will kill it with Land of The Dead. That song fits perfectly their style imo.

Talking about them, I listened their album not long ago and I was so amazed. It's glorious, really beautiful music.

Tomorrow the New Animals as Leaders album comes out, anyone looking forward to it?

Yup! Need to check it out asap, the singles sounded promising and were really enjoyable.

Will probably post my thoughts about the new album on here.

Also listened to SAOR's new album and it's beautiful, need more spins though.

+ the new Ravencult sounds really great!
