Tetora reacted to CAT5 in What COLLABORATIONS would you like to see in Japanese Music?
    Good thread, tetora.

Satoko (from me-al art) and ling tosite sigure (凛として時雨)

    WHY?

ling are undoubtedly incredibly talented musicans, but both TK and miyoko's vocals have always been the point of debate. They've often been likened to "chipmunks". So how would ling sound if they stuck to playing their instruments and lent vocal duties to a voice as commanding and thunderous as the hammer of thor? I'd be interested in hearing those results.

    EGO-WRAPPIN' and SOIL&“PIMP”SESSIONS.

    WHY?

The better question is WHY NOT!!?? The fact that this hasn't happened eludes me. Shiina Ringo has collaborated with Soil&Pimp more than once, and altho Ringo is clearly fond of Jazz music, EGO-WRAPPIN, on the other hand, has built their entire career welding Jazz and quirky pop elements together. Granted, the duo has never been as popular or successful as Ringo, but Nakano Yoshie's vocal dexterity far outweighs Ringo in a Jazz context and Masaki Mori's guitar playing would be right at home with Soil&Pimp. In addition, EGO-WRAPPIN's career predates Ringo's by 2 years. EGO-WRAPPIN' has collaborated with other big name acts like Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, BRAHMAN, and Katteni Shiyagare, so a collab as potent as this should be a no-brainer.

Abe Fuyumi (阿部芙蓉美) and THE NOVEMBERS

    WHY?

THE NOVEMBERS have really been experimenting with their sound these past few years and Abe Fuyumi has been moving into more alternative directions of her own. I think they could definitely meet somewhere in the middle. I feel like her deep, sultry vocals would easily mesh with the dark beauty of THE NOVEMBERS...Plus, I think that her and Kobayashi's vocals would flow well together.

a little of topic but i always wonder why vk bands never had members from other bands featured on their song? like if they liked that one guitar part that one guy did or think blanks voice would be nice here? is it because they dont have the money or cant afford for fans to maybe look else where?

Tetora reacted to Lestat in Why did people love NEGA so much? Same with Jin?
My question was always: why don't people love ネガ? For me, they were one of the most charismatic and emotionally sustained bands around, and in their legacy they still are. Both visually as well as musically. I could simply explain them with the song 'guilt trip' on the album GRAVE OF THE SACRIFICE, which is likely the most recommended album by them. I've had the privilege of hearing this track live and I still can't get over how far it reached within me.

I think they stand out because being founded in 2004, there weren't that many visual kei bands around with this image, or at least not in the spotlights. Kotekote had somewhat died out at the time and the mid-2000's were a place for lighter visual kei music like your mentioned vistlip, GUILD, An Cafe, etc. — ネガ broke through that image with being rancid and edgy, and I think quickly took the limelight with their aestethics. And oh, they've had the pleasure of bringing one of the best drummers of visual kei deeper into the scene for as long as it lasted, I'm still sad Yuu left (although I can totally imagine him playing jazz-piano in some bar).

It hurts me to see how many people had and still have criticism on Jin's vocal abilities, however. There was a time when VANITAS was released, people were trashtalking him so much that he actually personally apologized on his ameblo for his performances on the album. But I love Jin, I love how lively he is, how bubbly of a character he has off-stage opposed of how he acts on the stage, how kind he is to his bands and fans. Not to mention, I love his music, simply put. For me, he is one of those guys who can undoubtedly cross that bridge toward someone's personal life-experiences and feelings.

I don't see how it makes sense to accuse someone who was recently under care for a serious disorder which ruins lives slacking for not rushing out a single for five people to buy and everyone else to download. I don't believe musicians are slaves giving their health away for the amusement of a moderate fanbase.
Despite that they have a healthy live schedule, still entertaining their fans, and what has been released is certainly understandable as it takes much less work then putting together and releasing something up to par with their two last singles.
They also do not have a solidified record label anymore. DC still lists them in some cases, although they have not been officially working with them and there is no info that I have seen on what label / manager they will be working with on their next official release. People might criticize DC, but it is a lose-lose for them, as they either have to seperate from a group they put a lot into, or continue supporting D.I.D. and taking the burden and blame for any health issues he may again come across, as thy would take responsibility for making and or allowing him to continue the busy stressful life of a musician.
Also, besides production and release issues (they can't produce or distribute the same quality as their previous releases by themselves), thy either still have Pablo from PTP on board, and want this to be a big release to not only make their comeback but use his popularity to push off of, or they don't have him on board and need to re-do the composition and figure out how to create a worthwhile sound without the same band set-up and minus a major contributor to their song writing.
    Just my two cents.

Tetora got a reaction from Nyasagi in Bullying topic
People try to pinhole bullying into just simple schoolyard terms, like bigger or more popular people picking on smaller people in overt ways throughout life. That happens, and is terrible, but people also dont see all the other forms of bullying that permeate all of society.

Pretty much everyone bullies either consciously or unconsciously at points, or throughout their whole life.
One of the ways they do it, is through NUMBERS.

It can be just having your own group, and some dude not having anyone. Then even if you are all weak emotionally and physically, you can still pick on someone generally stronger than you because you have all these numbers on your side.

In the classroom, if an opinion isn`t liked, even in top Universities, and even if the opinion isn`t harmful or ignorant or anything in any way... If the numbers are against you, if the number of students who disagree is heavy enough, if someone feels like it they can absolutely crush most people and their opinions. The teachers can get the class to do this to you as well if they please. Sometimes people can be straight up correct, but a large enough number of people who believe in the wrong thing can send them packing.

People will look for any way to get numbers on their side and reap the rewards off of other people.

Their have been so many times I had to stick up for people who were being outnumbered in social or work environments. Sometimes people dont even need allies present to bully people with numbers, all they need is an audience, a crowd. If someone is a good talker, they can play the crowd and get the people to turn on you, even if they dont know those people.

One of the best things you can do in life to defend yourself is learn how to be a good trash-talker, who can keep it Politically Correct, and be good at the corporate e-mail game.

If you can take insults and throw them back into peoples faces, without you looking like an @$$, then you`ve got something. If you can do that while working the crowd, letting them know how much you just owned your opponent and why they should like you more then him, then you will be able to crush almost any verbal bullies in the workplace or social events.

That is of course if things wont get physical. If you are at school, or on the street, in a club, or at a party, people honestly usually cant handle a verbal smack-down, and will resort to violence. No matter what... you lose in these instances. There are many examples like this in bullying where the victims just cant win at that moment.

No matter what, if that person has a tight crew around them who wont turn on them, then the victims of bulliyng really have limited options. This can be anywhere from class, to work, to facebook, to internet forums. No matter what, you can still be painted to be, and believed to be the bad guy, and you will have to suffer from that because the people who want to punish you have numbers on their side, and there will be no justice.

The terms of what numbers can bully isnt just limited to attacking you either. They can bully your taste, bully your character, your ways of expressing yourself. If you like the wrong music, or talk in the wrong way, or get too much attention, people will use numbers to change that, or box you in, and put a glass ceiling on your growth, so that no matter how hard you try, no matter how high you reach, there will be no victory for you.

No matter where I look, there are numbers against people. I try to lead by example, and not bully people in any way, no matter how small, but I know there will always be somewhere close by that I can look to see 5-on-1, or 25-on-1, or even 25,000-1 as a whole arena boo`s someone and yells hateful things at them. All I can do then is try to be the extra 1 in 25,000-to-1, and make it 25,000-to-2. It`s not easy, but hopefully some people see what is right, and help even the odds.

Tetora got a reaction from CaRaN in #31: マーブル (marble) by ユナイト (UNiTE.)
They have really been bringing it lately.

I always loved their multi-colored approach, and this single really highlights that with their ability to make very different songs that fit together very nicely and can contrast and compliment each other at the same time.

As usual, all of the tracks are growers on me, and with each listen I came to appreciate them more. The instant show-stealer for me was Wonder, which is the track that I found pushes itself to the front of the crowd. Then I grew to have Osen as my second favorite, and the track which I found the most powerful, as you say, the emotion-filled vocals at the end are what made me grow fond of it.

I have always enjoyed how they can mix heavy and light elements on tracks, with strong chords against light vocals, without creating a distance between them. I also enjoy the higher pitched chords they use in the song in another part of their distinct guitar style. I really started to notice how they stepped up to an even higher level with the guitar harmony. I also think the vocals are getting even better, in the way that they are consistently delivered in an amazing, communicative way. The bass really shines as well, and the new drummer fits in such a way that you couldn`t even guess that he hasn`t been around since the beginning. The instrumental tracks always help me find more to love about the playing and composition itself.

Anyway, I always found them amazing, and this is the moment that made me see how they improved on something that I couldn`t really have even asked more of in the first place. They are releasing amazing music (IMO), and getting even more popular, so I hope that we can see them eventually take a place among one of the top band`s in Japan. I have always had them as a pick to be one of the band`s that could one day be compared to SID, though they are very different, they have a bunch of areas in which similarities could be made,  including the amazing musicianship, a wide range of distinct approaches to song-writing (including the incorporation of many different `genre`s`), and consistent accessible, yet uncompromising releases.

Oh yeah, also the lyrics are great, as usual, different members who compose and write vastly different things, yet manage to fit them all together.
