Star Trek - As I put this film on I didn't have any exectations at all, I didn't even expect to be entertained. I just put it on because I was told it had great sound, and as I bought a new surround system the other day I just wanted to test it. But this film really caught me off-guard. I'm not a huge Star Trek fan to begin with. I've seen some seasons here and there when I was younger, and I've seen some films and enjoyed most of it. But I quite liked this film. Actually, I liked it a lot for what it was. I didn't get much Star Trek feeling from it, and towards the end it felt more like a Star Wars film than a Star Trek film and it hits me that J. J. Abrams must've been just as inspired by Star Wars as by Star Trek for this film which is quite weird, but it was still a fun film IMO. The film is quite obviously made for the new generation of youngsters and not the older Star Trek horde, but as I wasn't a big fan to begin with I don't mind that. It's nicely directed, well-acted and to by surprise well-crafted as far as the visuals and special effects goes. It's looked nice for most part.

So yeah, impressed. Will watch the sequel later this week.

Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead - A very nice Australian low-budget horror film with an original twist to it. Imagine if Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil and Max Mad: The Road Warrior had a baby. This would've been the child. There's just something very fresh about the film. Some really nice and silly, but original ideas that works out really well. There's some good special effects, but there's also some rather poor CGI, but I can see through that as everything else was good, some good actors and some spot on comedy that works really good in the mix

Bianca Bradey really impressed me. Was amazing!

Aside from the lighting being pretty bad at times I'm having troubles believing this only had a budget of $160,000. Money well spent!

Housebound - I wrote a bit about this last ngiht and I'll write even more now. What a film, guys! Horror-comedy done right. Frightening, creepy, hilarious and full of suspense. Damn, this film was great! It twists and turn at every corner, leaving you surprised at what happens next. Newcomer Gerard Johnstone knows exactly what he is making and he is not afraid to play on cliches, make fun of them or just jump straight over the, something which is cool because you never know exactly what he's gonna do next. He also adds some very nice and unique camera angles to it all. Some shots is something that you don't see very often in films like this. It feels very original when you do something like that.

Anyway, Housebound is as I have already said a horror-comedy, and it mixes several genres together. It's part haunted house, part ghost story, part murder-mystery and part comedy, and it pays homage to the genres very well. And the actors are top notch. Morgana O'Reilly, which is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, Rima Te Wiata and Glen-Paul Waru are all amazing in their roles, and their comedic timing is spot on. The way they talk, and even move at times, are great and their facial expressions is at times among the best I've seen. Hilarious!

Top god damn notch film! 9,9/10

I would add Oculus to that list. For me, it's a 9/10. Really well-done old-school horror scares (not relying on modern gore); kinda up there with James Wan's Insidious and Conjuring. Some of the best kid acting I've seen in a while.

Yesss, I feel like so few people enjoy Scream 4, but I thought it was SO much better than 2 or 3. Such a cool "reboot"/homage to the brilliant first film.

    Sabbat - Envenom
    Sabbat - Evoke
    Sabbat - Sabbatrinity

Already own all three on vinyl, but Evoke and Sabbatrinity are different versions from the ones I've already got. Envenom was the same sadly, but shit happens.

    Timeghoul ‎– 1992 - 1994 Discography
Absu - The Third Storm of Cythrául + In the Eyes of Ioldánach 3LP BOX

For these five including shipping I paid about $80. The Absu box is currently being sold for around $55 while the Timeghoul one is being sol for around $50. It was just too cheap not to buy anything. Brilliant deals. Really happy to have that Timeghoul compilation in my collection. Been wanting it since its release, but it's been a bit too expensive for my taste till now. Same with that Absu release.

Yes, he's not a very talented vocalist. But so what? You don't have to be very talented at what you do, be it singing, playing the guitar, bass, drums or whatever, as long as you're able to sound good and make good riffs/create good atmosphere, and you can do those things without being a very talented guitarist/bassist/drummer/vocalist. Being talented is so fucking overrated.

Goodnight Mommy (a.k.a. Ich seh, ich seh) - Not even sure if this is proper horror, but I'm gonna include it here cuz it creeped me out real good. One of the few movies where I'd actually recommend watching the trailer first, cuz the film itself completely goes in another direction than suggested, so you'll have tons of unexpected moments and developments, heh. I don't even wanna give away what other movies it reminded me of, cuz then you might be able to piece together the 'real' story way too soon. Anyway, it's a faraway house, two kids waiting for their mom to come, she's recovering from an accident, so her face is in bandages... and acting a bit weirdly... is it really mommy? Well, you'll find out, for better or worse. Totally recommended if you enjoy a dreamy, slowly creeping vibe.

A few more that I came to think of:

78424325 (The numbers 78424325 spell out the word "suicidal" when dialed on a phone.)
    Make a Change... Kill yourself
    I'm In A Coffin
    ...
    |||_-_||| (The band's name is supposed to represent a razor blade. It can be pronounced as either "razor blade" or "busco la muerte" (which is Spanish for "I seek death").)
██████ (The band has no name; a solid bar is often used instead. On websites limited to ASCII input, they have also used the name "nic" (Czech for "nothing/null/none").)
    ...Aaaarrghh...

Some of these band names are just too god damn stupid to be real, yet they are. How on earth someone thought any of those names were a good idea is beyond me.

Today I was told by a parent that his son has his 6th birtday tomorrow, and while trying to find out who they were to invite to the birthday party, his son had asked him if it was OK for him to invite a grown up. His dad then asked him why, and his son told him he only wanted me to come.

It isn't supossed to be inspirational or anything like that, though. It's just a, in my eyes, funny quote from the slasher film Rocktober Blood. Nothing more, nothing less.

Went to Pstereo yesterday and saw some cool shit.

Got there and catched the last two-three Team Me songs, and it was nice. Sweet indiepop to enjoy in the sun.
Then we went over to watch Soak which was a huge disappointment, so went over and catched the last few songs from Døden which was OK.
Baroness was a roller-coster to be honest. At time it was really cool and at other time it was embarrassingly bad. They didn't manage to take advantage of the stage either. Should've played on a much smalle stage.
Jello Biafra was amazing. He brought the right amount of sillyness and punk attitude to the show. What a weird guy. Great concert and nice to hear some DK songs live.
Yelawolf probably stole the show, and might have been the best on day 1. I have never heard these guys before, but the concert was amazing. Huge bass lines (haha, jesus! My girlfriend had to leave during the second song because of the bass), a Yelawolf on fire and a great show. The band was one man less than Baroness, but took advantage of the stage. I hope Baroness watched and picked up a few tricks from these guys. Brilliant concert! That Black Sabbath sample was great too.
The Sword was cool in about two songs before it got boing, which is what I expected. Awfully mediocre band.
Sunsanne Sundfør was magical. What a voice, what a show, what a personality. Huge concert!
