I totally recommend Woods of Desolation. Both old and new, if you're into this kind of music. For the two first albums the music itself and the melodies aren't too different, but difference in the production makes them into two very different beasts. I prefer the older, more lo-fi and hazy material myself, but I am one of few as far as I know. The last album, As the Stars, was a bit more in the direction of post-black metal with a stronger shoegaze and post-rock feeling. A bit more Alcest-esque.
He also played bass on Austere's masterpiece "To Lay like Old Ashes".
I'll glady recommend Forest Mysticism and Grey Waters too. Forest Mysticism is very similar to Woods of Desolation and Grey Waters is more depressive rock, influenced by Katatonia's later albums and Amesoeurs.
Woods of Desolation's "Toward the Depths" and "Sorh" have been my go-to albums for foggy days alongside Negură Bunget's "'n crugu bradului" and "Om". I always play these albums when I'm walking around in the fog. No exception.

This thread needs som Japanese insanity:
The Machine Girl
Tokyo Gore Police
Mutant Girls Squad
Meatball Machine
Robo Geisha
Helldriver
Yakuza Weapon
Samurai Zombie
Alien vs Ninja
Haha! Hellz fuckin' yeah, baby! I just love these trashy films. Only thing that could've done them even more enjoyable is if the CGI were dropped for ONLY practical special effects. Other than that these are hard not to enjoy as long as you have a few beers, a friend or two and love trash cinema.

Cool track. Starts off really rocking before it turns into something that sounds quite inspired by Ved Buens Ende. Sounds great!

I thought it was more in the line of "What do you mean [insert vk indie band] has already disbanded?? They only released 4 promo pictures and announced they were formed, who does that??"

Went to a Laibach gig yesterday and it was beyond amazing. Started of with a handful of tracks off the new album accompanied by nice visuals in the background. But it was when they were finished with the newest album and started playing off Spectre and older albums things went straight to the skies. Tracks like The Whistleblowers, Bossanova and Tanz mit Laibach are like made for being played live, as they get a lot harder and harsher live. At one moment your gazing upon the stage without moving a limb before you start stomp the rhythm before you're half-banging and then out of nowhere you're dancing alongside plenty others. Such a weird experience.
The gig was short (90 minutes) and the ticket was expensive as fuck ($65), but at the end it was more than worth it as the band gave an amazing performance and there were no photos allowed, so you could actually watch the gig through your own eyes and not through the phone of the person in front of you. Amazing! I'll gladly pay $10-15 for every single gig as long as they add a "no photos allowed" to the gig. Brilliant!

I found this Korean Black Metal band that is pretty depressing and good, Sad Legend. Shame their albums were so expensive.:

Recently watched the Japanese horror film Evil Dead Trap. While it's not really anything special story-wise (tv reporter in search of a big break goes to investigate an abandoned factory after receiving a tape w/ a possible snuff film on it, people start dying), I have to say I absolutely fucking LOVED the film's visuals. Abandoned factories, stacks of malfunctioning televisions, lots of blue light.. Somehow I got really massive giallo vibes from this one in terms of overall style and soundtrack, and after checking out some reviews, it seems I wasn't the only one who felt that way. The movie's also pretty gory at times, including stuff like eye mutilation etc. Definitely an underrated flick worth checking out if you have the time. Apparently has a sequel that's also supposed to sport some stylish visual sequences, so I think I'm gonna have to look into that one too.

This cover made me quite curious for the new album. Looks a bit old school tbh.

Am I the only one who find it hilarious when people bash western VK bands for being generic, yet 98% of the VK bands they listen to themselves are just as generic?

The End of the F***ing World is one of the best new shows in recent years. Holy fucking cow! Eight 20 minutes long episodes of pitch black UK humour. Fantastic character development, story, direction and cast. Damn! So good.

Wait a minute. Are you saying that X Japan couldn't start VK because no-one sounds like them? Now I don't know nor give a fuck, but saying a band didn't start something because no-one sounds like them are dumb as fuck. If that's what you're doing.
Anyway, there's a lot of (speed/thrash/power) metal bands that took after (early) X Japan in the late 80's and early 90's both music- and image-wise. This is a known fact.

Probably my favourite film of 2017. Gorgeous folk-horror clearly inspired by classic 60's and 70's British folk-horror like The Wicker Man, The Blood on Satan's Claw, The Devil Rides Out, Cry of the Banshee and so on, as well as newer films like The Blair Witch Project, Ben Wheatley's Kill Lisand A Field in England, Robert Eggers' The VVitch: A New-England Folktale and more. Fantastic film!

The Ritual - This was a nice surprise. There was this novel that I've been meaning to read for a while now... turns out they made a movie based on it, and this is that movie. It was pretty solid, nothing groundbreaking but overall nice atmosphere. Some cool pagan / occult / mythological vibe too (tho dunno how accurate it was to actual Nordic lore). I loved the creature(s), wish they showed more of that stuff.
