A part of me feels like I could have done more. I was also eyeing a copy of the オヤスミナサイ re-recording EP for ¥8,200, which is a ridiculous price, but still tempting considering how it normally goes for ¥14,000, but someone else took it 🙄
 
憧憬、睡蓮と向日葵 I got for a bargain of ¥2,700 and I'm so glad I did. I've really grown to appreciate this mini album over the past few days, and the artwork and packaging are absolutely beautiful!
 
The BUCK-TICK CDs (except BT BEST TRACKS) are beat the fuck up; SSL has hairline cracks on its irreplaceable case, Six/Nine's disc was atrociously filthy, I actually had to spray/wipe it down, and 狂った太陽 was in absolutely nightmarish condition (which is fine because I only bought it to make scans).
 
If you're wondering why American filth is included in this picture, I got all this stuff in the mail same day. I'm just waiting for my Japanese version copy of boris' "soundtrack from film" マブタノウラ, I was hoping it would have arrived in time for this ~photoshoot~ but it's ~still~  in Portugal, thank you coronavirus!

They don't see themselves as a goth nor a visual style band, they see themselves more as a all genre band, just doing what they want to do and dress how they wanna dress.

edit: also, I really really really hope the deadman x cali-gari stream will be accessible through some platform that's readily available outside of Japan too...for a change. 9 out of 10 other bands can do it so I hope they'll manage too. :')

I just remembered ICEMAN, who were basically Y2K Aesthetic: The Band ...they're categorized as J-pop tho I think (well, they look and sound like very soft electro-infused vk pop if you squint hard enough). Anyway, I knew some vk fans who were into them long ago, maybe someone here will dig them.

I'm a lame sack of potatoes, but I try to jog/run a few times a week recently. I've been neglecting this for like over a year now, so I'm trying to get back into it these days. Still a bit far from my 'golden period' but I think I got the hang of it again. Nothing too extreme tho, just a couple of kilometres broken up by some casual walking.

brief updates while waiting for the talk section:
cali gari's stream's setlist was the same as the 1st live they had after Shuuji 2 joined the commentary was ao, shuuji, and kenjiro. they spent about 4 songs trying to explain to shuuji the chat/commentary/live concept but uhhhh that didnt work so well. Except the last song was a new one about the drink sex on the beach (legit imagine shouting SEX SEX SEX ON THE BEACH that's it that's the song) last time there was issues with audio, this time with video where it looked like a 20 year old VHS tape. honestly, i would have thought it was on purpose if Ao hadn't apologize for it 20 times (It'll be fixed by tomorrow apparently). In Ao's words "this band is CURSED" FC only live has been decided the deadman/cali gari live will be streamed as well will edit in after the talk section later

Blue Film -- everything will be rerecorded & sex on the beach will be put on it too. Kenjiro asked "will we put a condom in?" Ao asked "Do we need it?" and  Kenjiro was like "I want it" and Ao's response was basically "got it" so I guess this time will also have a condom  

That makes sense, because most people find it easier to tune to a relative pitch, like a guitar or piano playing in a similar octave, rather than pull a note out of thin air. Basically it requires a good ear. That's something I think I'd generally expect of a professional musician. (A violinist shouldn't need an accompaniment to stay in tune and the same goes for a vocalist, whose voice is their instrument). However, considering the technical ability of popular musicians is often much lower than the classical counterparts, it is actually likely that many have not developed a very good ear. I think Kaya hits a few notes flat in this performance, but he also notices and corrects some of them, so I'd say I generally agree with your friend's assessment. 

I have no idea about technique whatsoever, but a vocalist/pianist friend of mine who studied music for 10+ years really praised Kaya for his vocal abilities. He emphasized how hard it probably is (at least from his own experience) for Kaya to keep his voice controlled and stay in tune, because for example most of the verse parts in his songs have very little "background" for the vocals to "fall back upon", i.e. it's usually just a drumbeat and random bass synth and he still pretty much nails all the right notes. Plus his voice is pretty powerful and cool, but that's just my personal preference/observation.

But I'm puzzled why don't they just release a DVD of their recent gigs; quick money & minimal effort. The new album will definitely attract those who had already attended their lives to return. Extending the revival will also allow the 2-man gig with cali gari to be postponed further (which is good for me).

deadman will also release a self-cover album titled 「silent scream calls twilight」in 2021, remaking their previously released songs. Song list will be voted by fans.

Tbh, I haven't listened too much to either cali≠gari or goatbed… not sure how I was sleeping on them for so long. After enjoying Xa-Vat and seeing Shuji posting his really great musical influences on twitter I decided to check out Shuji's other projects. Still diving in, it will take some time…
