Awwww good to see them together. Crazy to think it's been almost 17 years since they went on hiatus. (that's like twice as much the time they were actually a band, lol)
-
OMG the song choices with those specific vocalists look perfectttttt ❤️ Can't wait to see whether they'll do some different tunes or change it up a bit for tomorrow's gig.

If anyone has any live reports, personal impressions or setlists of this, don't hold back pls. ;3 So far what I know in terms of MALICE MIZER songs is that apparently tonight ZIZ played "seraph" and Moi dix Mois played "真夜中に交わした約束" (Mayonaka ni kawashita yakusoku) and "Gardenia". Dunno yet what was actually performed by the special MALICE MIZER reunion-session formation.

^ I agree, I was surprised how good (or at the least, decent) the Channel Zero seasons were! It took me a while to get into the first one, but got to like it very much by the time it ended. The second one was completely different, with a very interesting concept. ...and the third one was just overall prettttty weird, but I loved it, haha.

Honestly, I wish he'd just leave the vocals alone and go back to being fully instrumental... I wasn't feeling this song, just like most of his last album. :/
-
Same, honestly (with regards to the actual music). Boring sample, awesome visuals tho.

These guys are absolutely brutal. Can't wait to hear this!
-
Not bad, tho yeah it feels a bit disjointed at times. I can dig it.

This sounds pretty cool, I think I might check it out tonight! My last watch was Dario Argento's Profondo Rosso. Great suspenseful and atmospheric flick, and the music is especially rad. And I just might have a bit of a crush on Daria Nicolodi~

- Gods of Ancient Egypt by Barbara Watterson: Pretty much what the title says, an interesting and informative read on some Ancient Egyptian mythology in a very concise and reader-friendly style. I've just finished another similar book (focusing more on history) by a Hungarian author that was just absolutely atrocious and full of weird pseudoscientific nonsense so this kind of came as a breath of fresh air after that. - Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill: My bookworm friend really recommended this book, a.k.a. the debut horror novel of Stephen King's son, as being genuinely creepy and masterfully atmospheric but so far I feel like his hype was too much, haha. I mean it's okay but nothing to shit my pants over while reading at night. I much more prefer his darkly humorous Horns (a totally different kind of mood tho). There's still a bit less than half of it to go so we'll see...

Just attended the 10th incarnation of Inner Awakening Festival here in Budapest, 100% underground black metal mayhem over two nights as expected. Some thoughts on the participating bands: Day 1 Goatcraft (Slovakia) - Started off things nicely, nothing remarkable but solid black metal with a nice atmosphere. Lepra (Hungary) - Total crushing darkness as they always do. One of the best and most recognizable Hungarian BM bands currently imo. Kaosophia (Ukraine) - These guys were the highlights for me on the first night. Highly atmospheric, and catchy yet technical stuff. Impressive! Inferno (Czech Republic) - I wasn't feeling it. The weak sound (after what seemed to be the longest soundcheck of all time) ruined it most of all. I left halfway through Inferno's set cuz I was really tired and sleepy, so I couldn't see Mortuus (Sweden) but heard they were good. Day 2 Niedergang (Hungary) - Great start. Excellent guitarplay with equal amounts of moody and thrashy, a bit of a mid-90s throwback vibe. Dunkelheit (Hungary) - Holy moly, this was the loudest gig at the whole fest probably, lol. Stylistically they were similar to Niedergang, so pretty solid. До Скону / Do Skonu (Ukraine) - These guys had more of a death metal sound. Would've been a nice refreshment if they weren't so utterly boring. Meh. Head of The Demon (Sweden) - YES. YESSS. YEEESSS!!! I came just for this band and they killed us all. They were very different from the rest of the lineup, dare I say not even 'pure' black metal (but certainly with BM elements). It's like someone traveled back in time to give a group of occult magicians a Black Sabbath and a Neurosis record to write ritualistic demon-conjuring music. Had a really trippy, airy and esoteric doom vibe. Great stage presence too, not something I'd say for most of the other bands, heh. After HOTD there was still Hell Militia (France) left but I had to go before they took the stage cuz I had early-shift work today, mehhh. All in all, a really cool time. Only negative thing was the unpredictable lengths of the soundchecks (two years ago they managed to solve it really punctually, so I thought everything would go according to schedule now too), but it was tolerable still. Can't wait for them to announce next year's lineup!
