LMAO for a second there I seriously got confused that I didn't know about some obscure band member link between NOi'X and THE VELVET... Anyway, good for NOi'X, duncurr about THE VELVET. ;<

Okay so I'm relistening to the album on my trusty old Philips headphones and............... it actually sounds quite okay??? On my computer speakers + subwoofer it sounded like a jumbled distorted uneven-volume mess of complete ass. Never experienced such a difference before. Huh. Good thing I didn't start investing in a car just to enjoy this album! ;<

All I gotta say is that this is the first time I'm actually struggling with listening to a new DIR EN GREY album all the way through, and it's not because of songwriting / performing issues. The overall 'sound' is just so so noisy and dense it just feels tiring to listen to. I don't know what they were thinking but wow...

Kaelan Mikla are amazing! Haven't actually listened to any of their studio stuff, just saw them last night opening for King Dude and they were seriously better than the main act, haha. Ultra-cool moody atmosphere and excellent '80s inspired sound. Love love love! In other news, my favorite Hungarian band (who happen to play deathrock / post-punk / punk) dropped their new album todayyyyy ❤️ https://padkarosda.bandcamp.com/album/visszat-r-r-m-lom-2018

This documentary on '80s Jp post-punk looks awesome from the trailer alone (too bad they're only screening it at like one theater in Japan, lol). ❤️

I didn't think this warranted its own thread but HOLY SHIT this movie looks awesome!!! A Japanese cinema is currently screening it, appears to be a 1-hour documentary about the mid-'80s positive-punk / post-punk movement featuring footage of Aburadako, Allergy, Sadie Sads and Madame Edwarda. I really hope they'll release this on DVD in the future cuz I NEED ITTTTT~

Not sure if this is a known fact already (couldn't find it on the last couple pages) but here are the song lengths from Tower Records: 01. 軽蔑と始まり - 00:03:12 02. Devote My Life - 00:02:46 03. 人間を被る - 00:03:44 04. Celebrate Empty Howls - 00:03:22 05. 詩踏み - 00:03:07 06. Rubbish Heap - 00:03:06 07. 赫 - 00:03:58 08. Values of Madness - 00:03:30 09. Downfall - 00:02:49 10. Followers - 00:04:40 11. 谿壑の欲 - 00:04:29 12. 絶縁体 - 00:07:20 13. Ranunculus - 00:04:24 Full length is 50 mins. Gonna skip the samples/advance track and wait for the full thing, although it's a bit hard, heh.

Curious for the new Purge movie, might watch it on the weekend (all the previous ones were at least 'okay-ish'). Same for Mandy. Gonna be watching The Nun at the cinema with some friends tonight, tho I heard it's utter crap. I hope the visuals will at least make up for it, if so.

Just a tiny info-morsel: according to the info that came with the single the new album should be released in October (tho not sure how accurate this will be). In any case, it's a good sign that the band has a few gigs lined up for November that bear the album's title, so fingers crossed!

^ Not for the most part... To me MTH was at their best when they did shorter songs, so from "Mimi kajiru" till "Rokkinpo goroshi" basically. The odd one out is "Buikikaesu" which has longer tracks but still has that 'zing' that I like about the previous stuff. Anything afterwards was okay but I never had the urge to revisit them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyway, hoping Daisuke will get better soon~

At this point if there are any samples in the next few days I'll probably just hold out till the full album drops. Been a while since I last listened to a DEG album like that, should be fun!
-
Just how many frickin' bands will keep poorly covering this song, I can't..............
-
No big loss here, they haven't released anything worthwhile in over 10 years.
-
I don't enjoy this track as much as their previous stuff, but the video's good (as always).

^ Sicario was sick. Loved the heavy atmosphere and the music was brilliant too. I last saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again which is kinda like a modern TV remake of the classic musical / movie. It's literally the same script, almost scene-for-scene, but with boosted visuals and added references / easter eggs. The Tim Curry version is of course miles better than this one, but at least it was entertaining and heartwarming to see a younger cast perform the classic numbers. Laverne Cox was pretty great as Frank-N-Furter, and Reeve Carney's Riff-Raff had an eerily similar voice to Richard O'Brien, haha. Adam Lambert's Eddie was fun too, hamming it up as expected. If you don't see this movie you won't lose out on anything, but it's okay for one watch of retro-nostalgia.

Yay, looking forward to it! The song/video is okay, not bad.
-
Thanks a lot for the bootlegs, @Yukami Shuuji really went all-out Tetsu on "Kioku to sora" damnnnnnnn I LOVE IT.
-
This 'almost full' version is a lot more enjoyable than the initial preview made it out to be! Video is still gorgeous, song's okay. It'll probably work better in album context.
-
YEEEEEEEES I'm so here for this! 13 was awesome, hoping this will be up to par too!
-
So far so good!
-
These band namings are getting out of hand, lol...

Not sure what Japanese artists usually say but if we're going by Western rock/metal tropes this might just be the band's heaviest and most melodic record yet!!!
