LOL didn't have much time this week. Listening to the albums now, will write my thoughts a bit later. Listening to Wintersun now, positive feelings so far.

For me, soul/feeling/accessability/whatever you call it comes first. Usually if there's some catchy melody or hook and some extra special "something" (that I can't describe really xD), that's enough for me to like a song. Or maybe something extra about it, like evoking a memory or feeling of nostalgia, I'm usually partial to that kind of music. Of course, technicality is nice too, when (and only when) it intensifies that cool atmosphere of the song and turns it "supercool". Those instances that make you go "wow!" So all in all, my priority is soul/accessability, but I don't completely discard technicality either when it is employed in reasonable amounts. edit: for example, one of my favorite Japanese guitarists is Imai Hisashi. I think he really shines at catchy song composition, but I don't feel that he would be able to do excessively technical things on his guitar. BUT he's got creativity and a cool/weird way of approaching guitarplay (he tends to improvise and make interesting noises/effects a lot) and a kind of trademark sound and coolness that I just cannot not like his music.

^ I seee~ ...so it must be kinda like atmospheric black metal (with lots of blurry effects I suppose xD).

Happy b-day, Marc!

Sounds interesting.

Thanks for the tracklist! Cool titles.

Hmmm not bad actually! Some parts sound a bit hurriedly-put-together for me (the tinkley electro bits) but overall it's a nice steady-beat fast party song, I kinda like it.

Did some drawing (just cheap ballpoint pen on copy paper) after god knows how many years, here's the result: Imago Mortis It's kinda crap (took 30 minutes because I like to get finished quickly), but looks a bit better in real life. xD

^ Haha, that was fun! That burning guitar towards the end was awesome! The song's good too.

^ LOL. xD Haven't tried Necrophagist myself, but maybe I won't either in the future, based on this... Yep, Mirai is featured on these: The Divine Art of Torture, Harvest Ritual Vol. I, Goblins Be Thine (EP). These are really cool albums, so I recommend them, plus the 1998 album Holocausto de la Morte is quite awesome as well. Their latest album Death Trip 69 is okay too (though no more Mirai there), with some interesting/unusual bits.

Interesting bit of news: SUGIZO will participate (as actor and musician) in the 2012 stage play 7DOORS 青ひげ公の城, based on Hungarian composer Béla Bartók’s only opera Bluebeard’s Castle. *proud Hungarian* XD http://www.7doors.jp/

Symphonic versions? Interesting...
