MTV Iggy Best New Band Concert 2011 (streamable) The 2NE1 segment begins around 1 hour 44 mins, and the actual performance around 1 hour 49 mins. I think they did well. The other footage with them going around NYC was fun/cute to watch too. ^^ Can't wait for the DVD!!
-
^ Oh okay then! Looking forward to anything new by them.

It's been awhile since I last listened to these guys but I remember And Justice For All being my favorite album. All around awesomeness, that one!
-
Annoying fans can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but overall the fandom itself never influenced or changed my listening habits in any way. If I like a particular band's music that's the only thing that matters for me. Then again, I'm not really actively in touch with any fanbase.

Alice Nine - GEMINI Cool style, good stuff if you'd like some semi-light VK with catchiness and content LUNA SEA - LUNA SEA Although just a re-recording (of their classic debut album), it's awesome: kickass production, instruments, vocals, the works! XA-VAT - Endo Crazy-ass cheesy retro-yet-futuristic synth pop/rock with a very "big" sound. Members include Ishii Shuuji, Sadie Pink Galaxy, and Közi. the god and death stars - addle apple Only a mini album but what fine music it has! Reminiscent of the studs, melancholic/bitter alternative rock. ...hmmm I think these are the only ones I can think of (edit: oh and Lycaon's Uso to onna to [ ], buuut it's pretty unpopular, so I won't recommend it XD).

I hope they'll be as good as aim was. Such a premature disbandment!

Wow, an album, not bad! Gonna rename the thread and edit my first post accordingly. The video on the OHP is pretty cool, though I hear massive DEG influences, lol. We'll see. Anyway, already seems more digestable for me than the music on their last few releases. xD

^ Thanks for the vid, it seems like a fun show overall. Manson was great, I love watching him on TV, cracking his jokes and metaphors and all around wittiness (maybe some alcohol helped too, looking at him xD). It was good to hear him talking about the album, made me real excited. But I guess it's still a while to go till then... The part with Saxon's frontman was cool too by the way.
-
Cool! Let's hope for the best.
-
^ Yep, it says 15 songs (including those 4 tracks) at the link you posted too. ...I guess this means there won't be a new mini album after all? (previously Trombe mentioned a new mini as well)
-
Haha, okay. I don't listen to these bands but yeah I kinda had a vague memory that you liked The Kiddie... xD
-
^ According to this site, the vocalist, one of the guitarists and the drummer went on to THE KIDDIE, the other guitarist to Reira, and there's no info about the bassist. They disbanded in 2006 by the way.

Random pic.

Short preview: EYEPvE0aDkQ I think I'll pass on this one... looking forward to any B-side(s) though.

Sorry guys, seems like there was a mistranslation in info: the anime will begin airing in January but there's no release date/period for the single yet actually. But I guess it should be released not long after the anime starts (?). Also, there'll be some radio stuff soon in connection with the single:
-
MUCC will release their next single ニルヴァーナ (Nirvana) in early 2012 (exact date still unknown). By the way the title song will also be used as opening theme for the 妖狐x僕SS (Inu Boku Secret Service) anime that starts airing in January. (source)

Not bad. I like it more than Niji no yuki.
-
Aww too bad. But no problem!

Well I guess the situation of style change/loss depends on different bands and different labels - it's hard for me to formulate a concrete answer. In visual kei the tendency seems to be that when a band goes major their appearance and music will gradually get toned down, to reach a wider potential audience. Some bands/labels do this well, others don't. On a personal note, it really saddens me when a band that had a really effective style change to something completely different - the change just doesn't feel honest. Sure, they say in interviews that "ooh we wanted to expand our sound, blabla" but it gets kinda fishy for me when "expanding one's sound" slowly becomes equal to "playing same-y bored-sounding crap over and over again". Kinda paradoxical, if you ask me. Of course if you stick to one kind of style that might get boring after a while, a band just needs to do it in an interesting fashion to keep their sound fresh, yet sticking to their roots - this has to be one of the hardest things IMO, especially the in the super-fast sped-up world of VK. One can burn out very quickly. In the end, I tend to favor the indie scene, be it VK or regular rock, but I have my select few major favorites as well (like BUCK-TICK who managed to remain interesting through all those years). Indie-level music has more diversity and artistic freedom (at least that's how I perceive it), if not only because of the abundance of bands, but I also admit that you have to dig in reeaal~ deep to find stuff that is actually good and suits your taste.

Nice setlist. I hope they continue working together somehow, from now on. Let's hope!
