The staff wanted to try something a little different this year with our best of list. Instead of just publishing a list of all of our picks at the end of the year, we decided to have it so one is posted every day right up to Christmas! It's our own little take on an advent calendar. Each day you will see a new album posted with a few staff members giving their take as to what their opinion of the album is. Keep in mind that it is impossible to really create a list that captures all of the diverse tastes of the our individual staff members, so you will have to wait for the staff member's individual lists if you really want to know a certain member's favorites. Also, the list was limited to only Japanese album (cause, I mean, this is a Japanese music forum).

This post will serve as the "directory" with all of individual albums being featured in each reply post. The discussion for this will go in THIS THREAD.

I think that guy's youtube video kind of sucked dick, but I still agree that the show kind of blows chunks.
Now let me rage against modern anime as a whole:
Dear modern anime,
TAKE SOME FUCKING RISKS! For the love of god don't set your show in a school setting! "oh, but it's not a school! You see, it's in the future where bunch of kids are together in this spaceship..." STILL PRETTY MUCH A FUCKING SCHOOL! "Well, you see, it's not about the school, it's about the fighting and the ridiculousness of it all." THEN WHY THE FUCK DO YOU NEED A SCHOOL?!?!
I'LL TELL YOU WHY! IT'S BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO FUCKING PUSSY TO TAKE ANY REAL RISKS SO YOU STICK TO THE SAME GOD DAMN SETTINGS WE HAVE SEEN A MILLION TIMES OVER!
Also, once you have passed the age of 21, it kind of become really gross when you realize that all of the ecchi shit is with chicks that are WAY to young. And come on, people are not that smart at that age. This is why stuff like Madoka was terrible just based on the age of the characters. Am I really supposed to think that a group of 14 year old girls have that mature of thought processes. I can't tell you a single 14 year old that I have met that acts as mature or are as intelligent as anime seems to make them out to be...not that they don't exist, but it is at least 1 in 1000 or something.
Moral of the story: GIVE US SOME GROWN UP CHARACTERS THAT AREN'T IN SCHOOL!

And all of the headphones we've recommended don't need to be amped. It doesn't hurt, but it's not worth the money.

You should listen to Visage's CDs GAME or reversal film (f.e. anticipate). His voice is just love. Also from what i did hear by 7addict (demo quality CD and live), his voice worked there too (live even better). But as you said, no idea how much he had to do with song writing.
 
Whoever was it in gossip did a great job tho, they had a good amount of rememorable melodies (butterfly, 残煙～after smoke～, Frozen Darkly, Final call, .. come to my mind). I remember the very old/early days of this forum when everybody seemed to jizz their pants to Final call, haha

Back on topic, for example, no matter how long you stare at the hour hand on a clock apparently you'll never see it move because it moves too slowly. Kind of same with the missing blue analogy, where if you have a line of all the shades of blue but with one missing, can you picture the missing shade? Without going into detail, the ultimate answer for me is that the difference will be so minuscule that you wont be able to see the difference or hence even spot the missing shade hence a pseudo problem.
 
I'm  probably just bullshitting now, I can't even remember why we had to use that as an analogy in philosophy, and I don't remember writing down that conclusion i'm just warping it to however I see fit...

I would agree that open has the edge when it comes to pure audio fidelity, but to me they pretty much defeat the point of having headphones...If I am at work and I want to jam out, I can't use open back. If I am at home and I don't care who hears me, I will play stuff over my speakers. I am not trying to say that open suck or anything, but it is just something to really consider. Other area where I would give the edge to closed is in the low bass region, it just seems harder for open headphones to really have that deep of a low end.
Once again, I am not saying that you, Muma, shouldn't get open headphones, but they are definitely things to consider.

I recently picked up the ASUS N500JV Ultrabook.

It's fantastic but I'm actually on the fence about returning it LOL. It's a little overkill since this is not a desktop replacement but it's also just SO SO NICE! It's also a bit heavy (like 10 fucking pounds heavy) and ideally this is supposed to be my on the go laptop. Not break my back laptop.
 
It was also running fan fucking tastic out of the box but like all prebuilt PCs was full of shit ton bloatware trying to get me to buy full versions of their shit tier software (fuck you McAfree). So I grabbed a copy of Win 8.1 from the MS company store and did an upgrade installation. Which caused a ton of driver compatibility issues. So I just did a wipe and using a Linux distro destroyed any traces of Windows and did a new fresh install of Win 8.1. So far it's running better, having a few problems with some drivers but hopefully should have those sorted out shortly.
 
Despite all that, it's running even better than before but still giving it a trial run. Makes me apprehensive what kinda of nonsense I'll get into a year from now when my warranty expires.
 
I do like Windows 8, no seriously I really do. I also didn't think I'd care for a touch screen monitor since it seems so gimmicky but it's kinda nice, like when I'm just sitting there with it in my lap and scroll a page using my finger. Though I am super duper OCD and anal about finger prints. I still prefer just to use my mouse but when I'm forced to use the touch mouse, it's a nice alternative since I've never been a fan of touch mice.
 
Performance is great though, did some tweaky around in photoshop the other night and it ran quite well. Photoshop is my only real concern since that's probably the most intensive thing I'll be running on this but I did install Steam and currently installing Skyrim to see how it handles it.
