Old news, but kons head is enormous.

I have many fond memories of both bands, but both disappointed me a lot, too. Phantasmagoria, before their original disbandment, when they released proper songs, not just leftovers, rererererecordings and ballads intended to make nostalgic fans cry and throw money at them, were great. And there are many songs I still love listening to. They were very vk, didn't leave out any fun cliché to make lives more enjoyable, copying from pretty much everywhere but kinda turning it into their own thing. Juns songwriting was still great. They could play all their songs in one show but each song was memorable. Not really original, but memorable and fun. Their lyrics were cheesy romantic messes, but it didn't matter because they didn't take themselves too serious either. As for ヴィドール...well they sold themselves, too. Most songs on their major releases, actually even the later UCP stuff were a waste of talent, but I still think everything they did for the first few years is flawless. There wasn't (and isn't) a band that could compare to them either, they really had their own sound that captured me from the very first time I listened to them and still captures me today. In comparison to Magomago they released a TON but since each release had it's own theme and they didn't focus on only live tracks but also experimented a lot that didn't matter at all. I loved listening to their CDs as I loved seeing them live and there propably won't be an active band I love as much again. As opposed to Phantasmagoria I have to be in the right mood to listen to their songs because they aren't something I could just play in the background, so maybe I actually listen to them less often. Still. I think that they are (or were, as I'm only referring to their UCP years) simply the better band. More versatile, much, much more original, more 'serious' and less of a fun easy-listening kind of band, better lyrics, a band with an actual concept and themed releases. On top of that my favorite band for many years. So. My vote goes to ヴィドール~

Copying songtitles off some random tape you come across sounds like something any mid 90s vk guy could have done, but being as forward as to take two different tapes by the same band to do it is... special. Also. It's not even that you read those titles and think OMG THIS IS SO DIFFERENT I NEED THOSE TITLES IN MY LIFE MUST COPY. So why? VICE∞RISK sound pretty good though.

While I agree with the general consent here in that 'showing off' and exaggerating things is an important element of visual kei I've had that feeling a couple times. A solo that feels out of place and does more for the bandmember playing it than for the song as a whole. Or pvs that feel a bit awkward because they are more like showcases for how fast everyone can play while making cute faces.

I've been to quite a lot of lives over the years so I can't remember nearly all of them. : x (Also. Too lazy to make a list) There are some that were especially memorable though. 04/10/30 D'espairsRay. They weren't the first japanese band I saw live (that was BLOOD lol) but the first one that really impressed me. It was the first time I thought that visual kei was AWESOME and I propably wouldn't hang around on MH now if that live hadn't drawn me in like that. 05/05/28 Dir en grey, this was their first appearence overseas, it was an incredibly hot day and it was packed. The set was great but the atmosphere was what made it especially memorable. I have never seen a more fanatic audience ever again in my life. People ripped thrown drumsticks and towels apart (In some cases with their teeth) and a day later there were articles in the newspaper that the temperature and amount of people fainting at that concert both were records. 06/12/29 ヴィドール They were my favorite band for ages and this was the first time I ever saw them. It was also their last oneman as an UNDER CODE PRODUCTION band so it was especially touching. (and long!) It was a seated live so naturally much more well mannered, but they rocked it so much it was quite amazing. 08/12/25 Rentrer en Soi, their last live. I don't really listen to them much anymore today but back then I was really sad. It was my first 'last live' experience and the first time I cried at a concert. : x I still haven't watched the dvd of this one. 12/4/5+6 La'Mule. Propably the happiest two days of my live (rivaling with the day I got my first own pc when I was 9) it was really a dream coming true just to see them at all, but seeing them with their complete lineup two days in a row playing oneman sets was unbelievable. And on top of that they didn't do the half assed revival thing. They sounded fantastic, looked fantastic and even the fans were fantastic. 14/3/21+22 Remembrance day featuring MIRAGE, NeiL, DEJAV, ANGEL DUST, Aliene Ma’riage, DAS:VASSER, Cynthia, La'Mule, RAPES, THE DEAD P☆P STARS, 覇叉羅, DEFLOWER and vella Donna. Normally events don't feel as special to me as onemans but this one is an exception. Being able to see so many of your disbanded favorites in just two nights. The occasion was a sad one but I'm very happy I could go.

There is one more thing about this auction. From the image link it appears that the seller was a person named myth_ceo on yahoo auctions. Me (and some others) have been stalking that account for a while because he or she kept auctioning off incredibly rare or even unreleased kisaki related things, often when one of those was sold he or she would add the same thing again as if there was quite a stock of stuff. So we came to the conclusion that it might actually be kisaki himself or some staff selling things for him. Well, even if it wasn't. Telling from the amount of kisaki memorabilia that person owned he or she should be able to tell if the tape really was from another band. The more confused I am by those bandmember names.... edit: the best part? It seems that myth_ceo deleted his account by now. ;o;

Bit offtopic but. Am I the only one who thinks this analogy is really fucked up? I mean. I don't mind pirates at all so I'd be on the "pets, not parasites" team but... how is pirating music similar to sexual harassment? And does it mean I should think of sex offenders as pets, too, because I don't mind piracy? Sure, both are illegal and both are a violation of another persons rights but have you ever heard of some anime creator who had to go to therapy to fix his deep emotional trauma caused by neckbeards downloading his work? How is sexual harassment related to wanting or not wanting a girlfriend anyway?

You are welcome! orz In fact I'm just a mathematician like you ; D Yeah I agree. : / Especially from Climax on the lyrics lost the typical vk 'fun parts' and stilted language (don't get my wrong- I love that, too) and got much more straight forward and well. Sad. Saying that this came from something Kon went through at that time would be too speculative but he has talked about depression and sucidal tendencies more than once in interviews and older blog entries so I'd say he certainly has been there and knows what he's singing about when he does.
