filth_y got a reaction from emmny in アルルカン (Arlequin): 10 Deep Cuts
I followed them like crazy in 2013-early2014, getting all those 1 day only store limited shit because i loved 暁 in Diverse glare in Riot. But after their good self titled they became just too repetitive for me, maybe the most repetitive band i've ever heard. I tried many times to like them but every time i feel i listen to the same song over and over and over again, sadly mostly for 暁's vocals. I've had their playlist with idk somewhat 40 songs on them in the background once while friends visited and after some time they asked me to put on another song, they didnt notice there were more than 2-3 rotating songs played... I switched to the Diverse glare in Riot single and they said this is much much better for the vocalist and i told them its the same vocalist which they didnt believe at first. I thought its quite obvious that its still the same voice? That story really did happen, lol
Also, i was hugly dissapointed and shocked when seeing them live in 2014. I felt besides their drummer everyone had no talent at all (im not sure bass and guitar even played their instruments or those were playback). Maybe only HOLLOWGRAM shocked me more that day with how bad they were live.
But watching their live videos on youtube they seem to have improved live wise (while those cant be used for judging a band tho) and doing well (are they?), so seems they're just not my cup of tea. Still always sad that potential he showed in Diverse glare in Riot was lost to this. Also for me, im always disgusted by those horrible "screams" hes doing. But they do have great band pictures! I really like the current one in the woods.
(Sorry for my negative points to your list/efforts :/ )

0.1g was on of the worst bands i've seen live, totally chaotic and no clear sound/melody/anything hearable at their live, their vocalist couldnt sing at all and was just all yakuza/chimpira talking and besides was the most ugly member of any band i've seen live so far. That wouldnt have shocked me but what did was when he jumped down and attacked one girl in the audience after insulting her verbally from the stage. The other members had no stage presence whatsoever wearing just training suits and i thought it was a solo project with support members.

I cant believe how this band has any fans at all besides 14 year old girls that love the insulting/bad boy image.

If I have permission from an admin, then I'll drop the highlights.
Mostly I just don't want anyone to think I'm doing it to smear the bandmen in question or attempting to pass anything off as an absolute truth. The stories about Harcon in particular are generally considered to be a mix of truths, half-truths, exaggerations and total fabrications.

The following is a selection of posts just from this archived Harcon thread:
    http://old.bbs.2ch2.net/admin/readkako.cgi?bbs=visualtanuki&key=1223287368
Byou is called by his real last name throughout the thread, I've replaced it in the translation. Also, some of the content below is disturbing.

I also found some thread about bandmen and fighting but it's mostly about extremely early vk bandmen (RAPES, Charisma, Dynamite Tommy, X, LUNA SEA). I'll come back with those highlights when I have some time!

Are you sure he didnt ask which band you came to see and should receive your ticket money (which is done at all vk lives i went (even sponsored events) besides obvious one-mans). Would be really funny if he meant it the way you described tho
Also the live house i've never heard of, i feel its often just always the same 10 live houses bands play at and some are horrible for the audience to stand/see, so cool when they/the scene expands to others.

Thats quite a lot! Whenever i saw The Gallo (which was at events with many bands only tho) they had much less fans (however i can imagine they prefer to go to such event than one with many bands playing shorter time). However, their fans were one of the most motivated ones, smiling handing out paper plates and plastic spoons to audience members that didnt bring some so everyone could clap along (however many left whenever the Gallo plays).

    filth_y got a reaction from cvltic in Top 10th best lynch's albums (2005 - 2018)
I think @RazorGenesis list is pretty accurate. The top 3 arent even arguably as taste, their ranking is simply a fact.

Edit: I took the time and gave every song (including intros/SE's) a x/10 ranking (purely from listening to an album and not how the songs are perfomed/enjoyable live) and calculated the average of every album and this is the resulting ranking :
    01. underneath the skin (2005) 9.2
    02. THE AVOIDED SUN (2007) 9.1
    03. THE BURIED (2007) 8.4
    04. greedy dead souls (2005) 8.1
    05. SHADOWS (2009) 6.7
    06. GALLOWS (2014) 6.6
    07. I BELIEVE IN ME (2011) 6.4
    08. XIII (2018) 5.8
    09. INFERIORITY COMPLEX (2012) 5.7
    10. D.A.R.K. -In the name of evil- (2015) 5.6
    11. SINNERS -no one can fake my bløod- (2018) 5.4
    12. AVANTGARDE (2016) 5.3
    13. EXODUS-EP (2013) 5.2

Im suprised SHADOWS ranked so high and INFERIORITY COMPLEX/D.A.R.K. -In the name of evil- much lower. Those had good songs on it but all those filler/boring songs pulled the overall ranking of the album down.
The only songs getting a 9/10 or 10/10 after 2007 are LAST NITE and ADORE from SHADOWS (both 9/10), LIE from I BELIEVE IN ME (9/10) and RING from GALLOWS (10/10).
After 2015's D.A.R.K. -In the name of evil- the only notably songs are D.A.R.K. and MOON (both from D.A.R.K. -In the name of evil- with 8/10) and PHANTOM from AVANTGARDE (8/10) (and maybe A FOOL from the new XIII which i nearly gave 8/10 but ended with 7/10).

filth_y reacted to The Reverend in Live Report: The Gallo & Lack-co Two-man @ 東高円寺二万電圧
Lack-co are in the middle of hosting a series of Monday two-man shows called "ステゴロ" (what does Stegoro mean??)  and having never seen Tenten in any of his bands and The Gallo being one of my favorite active VK bands I had to go to this one while I was visiting Tokyo.

東高円寺二万電圧 (Higashi Koenji ni man Den-atsu) is just outside the central Tokyo region defined by the Yamanote Line, but it was a quick trip on a couple trains and Den-atsu is very close to the station when you arrive.

To access the venue you first have to descend an outdoor, concrete staircase toward an outdoor landing. The descent actually made me a bit nervous as there was no railing on one side and it was raining at the time. This was a very non-descript entrance from the roadway. After walking down the stairs and making a turn I was looking at a way too-cool-for-school 30-something dude manning the ticket table. Acknowledging that I don't look much like the typical VK fan in Japan, when I asked for one ticket this guy with shaggy hair at the table actually asked me "You know who's playing tonight?" He didn't sound mean about it, I think he genuinely wanted to save me from seeing this show normally reserved for younger women assuming I had just stumbled to the club looking for any live music I could find. I assured him I was there to see The Gallo and he handed me my paper ticket that doubled as a drink ticket.

I liked the set up in side Den-atsu as the bar and merch tables were outside the stage area, which meant I could stand pretty much anywhere inside and not be in the way of people trying to sell things. I found a spot in the rear of the club in front of a tiny alcove that was littered with bags belonging to the VK girls in attendance.

This was a fairly small club with low ceilings; their website says the capacity is 130 and I'd say this show had about 80-90 people in attendance. The head count reminded me just how niche a scene VK is. I'd consider The Gallo and Lack-co two of the more well-known indies bands, so it was a bit jarring to see the small venue they were playing at even in a giant city. I'm obviously too deep into VK to remember that almost no one cares about this stuff.

Obviously The Gallo were going to be playing first... both because Lack-co were hosting the event and because I saw a lot of the girls standing near the stage holding their signature bowl and spoon. One girl near me had a plain bowl with no logo on it that I could see, did I miss something or did this girl just bring her own bowl from her kitchen to clap along with? I think the latter scenario is pretty funny/ingenious actually. I mentioned in a live report from a couple years ago that The Gallo fans kept doing furi during the band's music playing between sets over the club's PA, and during this show the fans clapped along to the bass drum sound check. Gallo fans seem like a fun bunch in general.

The curtain was drawn to reveal the band in their latest Gallo-Vuitton all over print leisure suits. Jojo had his hair cascading through the top of a hat with the top cut off and some Day of the Dead skull inspired makeup for a very Tim Burton-y look overall. Andy had his palm against the ceiling atop the stage, and I don't think he was raising his hand to get the crowd hyped but rather to test whether or not he could pump his fist upward during the show (he couldn't without hitting his hand... a lot of the band members had to deal with this and would only throw up their hands while bending backward to afford themselves a little more space.) Some of the audience were even checking to see if they could touch the ceiling. The stage right guitarist (they have names for these positions in VK but I don't remember them) had one of those guitars with no headstock, and it looked from across the room like the end of the neck had dripping red wax poured on it a la a Maker's Mark bottle.

The newer guitarist, Nov, passed out paper plates to the audience so that people who didn't bring their own (like me, no I didn't pack my Gallo plate in my luggage) could clap along and the set began with "Belphegor". "Belphegor" has some pretty obvious clapping along portions, so even a noob like me could get the hang of the plate banging fairly quickly.

The highlights of the set for me were the fact that they played "Kuroi Ondori" (ok they played the remade version from Nero, but still) which is a favorite of mine, and also the 'circle pit' that Jojo started with himself dancing in the center of the maelstrom playing with a megaphone set to siren mode.

The lowlights, if you can call them that, were that two different songs had the audience doing the wave (do we need that two separate times?) and that the MC music was "Tokyo Cinderella" but they didn't actually play "Tokyo Cinderella".

Some of the non-bowl-based audience participation that was fun was the crowd stomping on the floor in time the beat and the crowd holding hands and swaying back and forth. Of course a couple songs had the requisite gyaku-daibu portions, and I'm certainly not jumping into the backs of some tiny Japanese girls, but they were fun to watch. Nov was kneeling on the backs of a couple girls during one diving song and slipped off them and stumbled backwards onto the stage. Wajou occasionally tried to demand the crowd participate in the diving like the other members were, but he is way too smiley and couldn't really pull it off. He just couldn't help being happy even trying to look mean.

The Gallo ended their set with a really high energy rendition of "Incubus" (which I'm still disappointed has no theremin in the live version) during which Jojo was leaning over the crowd singing and got some feedback when he put his mic in front of the amp and proceeded to give it a disappointed look and bop the amp on its 'head' like it was a recalcitrant child.

With The Gallo finished with their set thus began the churning of the crowd as Lack-co fans moved into the frontmost positions and many girls invaded my small space in the back looking to find their bags and check their phones and makeup. It kind of sucks for people in the back, as the polite spot changing for peoples' favorite bands leads to a weird concert-going scenario where the back of a venue is often more crowded than the front, but it is kind of cool that the scene (or just Japanese live music fans?) doesn't require people who want to be up front for the band playing last to endure being crushed through all the other shows as concerts in the west would.

Interesting note about Den-atsu: in tearing down the stage between sets (which isn't quite the production at these Japanese clubs where you basically just have to bring your instrument and plug in) the bands/roadies had to move equipment down from the stage into the audience area and out through a side door that wasn't connected to the stage. So after the curtain was closed on The Gallo, a couple minutes later we saw band members bringing things down from the stage to this side door.

    (from Lack-co Twitter)

While The Gallo fans can be identified by their white bowls and spoons, Lack-co fans had all produced blue and red clamshell castanets to clap along with. I have to say these did dramatically change the sound of the crowd applause in a way that might get old, but was kind of refreshing for the first time.

Lack-co's intro SE was a piano rendition of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" that gradually morphed into the requisite fist-pounding, techno track. The first member to take the stage was drummer Higiri, and wow I thought I hated his black face, but this blue Alfalfa x Cindy Lou Who hairstyle he was rocking for the show might actually bother me even more (not bother in the same way obviously, but it was not pleasant to look at.) I resolved to avoid watching him as much as possible.

The band, except for Tenten who had a Lack-co band tee over a white shirt, were all wearing the red suits with writing strewn all over them from their most recent look. I recognized some of the words scrawled on their suits like 'shine' and 'kimoi' as 'mean things to say to someone'. Very edgy boys.

Between not loving their output so far, and the majority of their tracks having titles in Japanese, I didn't recognize much of Lack-co's set list other than a riff here or there. The show did remind me of why I keep giving Tenten's bands chances and will continue to; he is one hell of a charismatic frontman. His sly smiles and confident stage mannerisms had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand and made it so it was hard to pay attention to any of the other members of the band. His best move was when he parted the Red Sea of fans to do a bit of 'everyone run into each other from opposite sides of the venue' but just as the opening in the center stabilized, he jumped down and ran to the cameraman at the back of the venue, struck a pose for a moment, then dove back onto the stage just as the cue for the crowd to go wild hit.

Lack-co's set actually resembled a straight up rock show the most of any VK bands I've seen I think. There was very little *furi*, most of the synchronized moves were headbanging, clapping, fist-pumping type stuff that required no direction from Tenten or the band. Tenten even commanded an almost bona fide circle pit during which one girl lost her sweater and it ended up absolutely trampled. In fact, I was a little surprised by how much the show, for lack of a better word, rocked. Lack-co has always seemed like an assemblage of too cute ideas in search of a central theme or melody to hold on to on wax, but live their songs resonated nicely even with perhaps a 'jazz' breakdown a little too often.

Milk threw a carton of milk into the crowd as the band were leaving the stage... ride that USP hard buddy.

Ivy was fun strutting around the stage and headbanging as usual. I say as usual because I'm pretty sure I saw him at three different shows the week I was in Tokyo, at Lack-co and as a session bassist the other two.

When the set ended the girls chanted and clapped in unison for an encore. (Though they appear to be saying "an-ko-re" instead of "an-ko-ru"? I guess the first group that did it had only seen the word encore and not heard it spoken??) They even started up a chant for a second encore that was cut off by the house lights and a voice over the PA system telling them, I'm guessing here, that the show was actually over and it was time to go home.

This was a fun pairing for a two-man show as both bands and their groups of fans have pretension-free fun jumping around to some quality tunes. I'll be sure to check out Tenten's next band if I visit Japan again 😉.

As you can see from the flyer, they already play lives before that  Im also sure they played some lives early last year with BUK BUK (always at 新宿clubSCIENCE, lol). I think the date is their "restart" or "formal start" (as written on the flyer)

*Edit: After checking the vocalist twitter, i think they started as a session band that changed its name to MIDGARD around June/July 2017 that covered songs from e.g. アヲイ, lynch., DEZERT etc. and eventuelly playing own songs.
Since he also had some pictures where he cosplayed Cloud from Final Fantasy, i guess the bands name might be a reference to the city of FF7, Midgar?

I've seen their vocalist shred cool stuff on guitar at their live before but not play guitar for full songs like in the DVD trailer. With the lightning and their movements they look like some random poppy J-Rock band at some points (if you turn off the sound).
Pretty cool cover tho imo. Still was suprised they anounced this album and not the long overdue disbanding.
That intro song/riff! One of my favorite vk album starters! Nothings gonna beat that (even tho its the same as in DAMY's 言訳。which was released earlier, but my theory is DEZERT Senpai showed DAMY's bassist this riff and then thought they want to have it aswell, lol).

Hey guys. Since yesterday most of the bangyas are commenting about the 0.1g no Gosan x Mathilda drama.
I don't know if rumors section is the right place to post it, since it's not a RUMOR, but i don't know anywhere else to do it lol

I think many of you know that 0.1g no Gosan is a very polemic band. Their vocalist, Midorigawa Yuu is always chasing fans who are not doing the furi, or saying bad stuff about other bands. For example, he said to the fans don't go to shitty bands like Vexent., said POIDOL is a shitty band with a ghost-writer and also made fun of DOGinPWO (their senpais tho........).
On June 28th 0.1g held a event where they intended to play with "minor" bands. One of these bands was Mathilda, a new band that just started their activities.
What no one was expecting was that the vocalist Kuu would enter the stage holding a 0.1g no Gosan picture*. Then he smashed it and ATE it all.
The fans were surprised and some of them scream in panic. But okay, the concert was over and no one said anything about that.......until yesterday.

On yesterday's concert 0.1g vocalist stopped their song to talk about Mathilda.
He said how pissed of he was for such shitty band smash their flyer (*actually it was not a flyer. it was a colorful print that Mathilda vocalist made by his own, so...) and said that if any of the 0.1g fans go to a Mathilda concert, the whole band would hate this fan forever, and don't talk to them on instore events and such anymore.
In the end, he made all the fans scream "MATHILDA DIE!!!!!".

If you look for opinions about that on twitter, it's very divided. But indeed, 0.1g is losing a lot of fans for their posture.
In my opinion, first of all, who he think he's to say which bands the fans should go or not? "I WON'T TALK TO YOU ON INSTORES ANYMORE!!!1111" bitch how old are you? 7? the fans are PAYING MONEY for that. It's so stupid.
Also, as mentioned, Mathilda didn't use a flyer that 0.1g useid their money to make. And is it THAT offensive?
Mathilda vocalist is always eating stuff on their concerts, pizza, apples, and stuff because it's their concept. They choose 0.1g no Gosan picture fot that because IT WAS 0.1g EVENT. It was just a fuck'n performance.
Can we also mention how problematic is to make your fans scream to SOMEONE TO DIE? Like......Jesus........ In my opinion the fans are also stupid tho.

It's very funny that he's so pissed of, but he's always doing worse stuff to other bands.... So when it's with you you can't take it? HAHAHA

I'm really rooting for Mathilda now and i hope they smash and eat  Midorigawa next time lol

What you guys opinion about that?

I think you are a live follower of KRAD so you can probably judge better than me. I just felt they always had a lot of different style songs IMO, e.g. they have heavy atmospheric mid temp songs like 傀儡遊ビ and TwiLight forever (two of my all time vk favorites) or Dead bouquet, their heavy/fast songs, straight rock songs like 餌喰 with those riffs everyone heard from 100 other bands already (cool but wouldnt fit their concept at all?) and also【D】Add... that doesnt fit to anything they've done. And they've released these all over the time, so constantly having "different" styles. 曼珠沙華 from their new single sounds straight from releases 2-3 years ago, just more polished. The only time i felt a change in concept was maybe from listening to SHEDIA and then Dead bouquet from DEEP MORE DEEP #3 the first time (i felt they wanted a more "atmospheric" sound in KRAD than in SHEDIA). But with the release of their first single and so on i felt "ah its just an evolution of SHEDIA".
But again, if you follow KRAD live for some years you can probably judge better than me the overall band concept since i know CD/bandpictures dont reflect the real atmosphere of the band. I hope to catch them live this or next year (if they dont break up before, lol) and can see for myself

    - Articles in visual kei related magazines (the vocalist of kuroyuritokage once explained at a oneman i went how he noticed their popularity decreased (beside obvious smaller audiences -> and therefore smaller livehouses (here is a pro argument for the live house discussion, lol)) that magazines stopped to feature them).

The biggest problem: I often feel its also not a band that is famous but a member of a certain band. You can see this when whatever i thought noname session has the venue filled cause the girls love member xyz and some what i thought would be big bands had everyone leaving. You can easily find out by looking at the number of twitter followers a certain band member has and compare it to the other members of the same band.

I somehow was reminded of Saki's XII-Destructive Agent of JAP reading this thread  With faked/photoshopped audience pictures, randomly calling themselves major, etc. you cant believe what you read online and need to see yourself.
  22. Thanks

Actually yes. MEJIBRAY Company president is rumored to be from Yakuza and he's one of the big bosses of Visual Kei industry now.
Since Koichi and Tzk apparently had some problems with him (remember Koichi stop playing the bass and showing his middle finger in direction of their boss in the end of their concert), yes, they're in blacklist and probably can't do a Visual Kei band anymore. That's what this song is about.
On yesterday concert they said that CreatO was the only live house that let they play.
  23. Interesting

My problem with vk in general after seeing many lives over the last years. There is the image of a bandmember that is created and there is the real bandmember that shins through when you talk to them/listen to the MC live.
Always shocked how many "dark", "depressive" or "heavy" bands are just in fact cheerful guys that love pop music and probably play heavy music because its "cool".
  24. I feel ya..
