haha when my dad insisted on hearing what kinda stuff I listen and I played D'espairsRay - after awkward silence he just muttered and said how it sounded like HIM or something.. I believe that day he resigned his duties as far as parenting goes

Damn, watching the Garnet PV as a little kid back then was such a experience. I had it downloaded in .mpeg via Soulseek and I would replay it for hours. I already knew them before, but that video really changed how I felt about them (the BORN video that came a few months after helped solidify it too).

Technically it wasn't a long romance with them for me either, despite how impactful it was. Brilliant made me sceptical, Kamikaze made me angry and by Horizon I was totally over them. Oddly enough, I moved onto An cafe where I still fucked with even the post-bou material that in retrospect is not very good at all. Then I really got into dir en grey in 2008something and haven't really looked back. Dir en grey still ranks as the all time band for me 
 

Man I was fucking with In Vain so hard in 2007. The live of it from Liquidize dvd I must have played daily. Really made me into the mess I am today. 

Yeah I went straight to limewire after that one. I downloaded everything from X Japan feat dir en grey rusty nail and whatever else there was. I don't remember when I discovered brazilian blogspots, but I eventually discovered tainted world through them. Also I remember asking one moped driving, rammstein fan friend to attend that ruisrock gig with me haha. Didn't go unfortunately. 

oh nice! Despa was probably the first band that got me further into VK from the typical X Japans and Dir en greys
