I see no reason why one would choose to use グリーヴァ rather than just Grieva?

The Doom Generation (1995) Trashy low-budget cult movie with lots of blood, violence, harsh language and sex. The viewer is dragged along with this couple pictured above (+ a stranger they pick up) on what you could call is a bit of a road trip through moral depravity. This isn't going anywhere and doesn't have much of a storyline. It's an experience. I thought it was very well made in the sense that it drags you deep into a world you never knew existed (and to a certain extend actually never did) and takes enjoyment in seducing the viewer to go along with the ride, no matter how disturbed some of the images and events are. One scene can be real cool and stunning with gorgeous colors, the next scene may be a slap in the face, showing you how messed up this situation truly is. Especially the ending. God, that ending! The soundtrack is monumental! There's Slowdive, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Curve, Lush and Cocteau Twins among others... and there's even a Pizzicato Five song playing in the background of a long scene! Basically all things considered cool and hip in the 90's underground scene of a 'doomed generation' are gathered here. The general reception on this was very negative. I read even Roger Ebert the famous critic gave this zero stars. He hated it! IMDb users aren't fans either: a rating of 5.9 is very low for their standards. Don't be discouraged though. While this may be appealing to a smaller audience, if you ARE that audience, you just might end up enjoying it. I thought it was a great ride and certainly memorable.

Rewatching Twin Peaks. Must admit that this time James is a bit more annoying. Honestly his character must be the weakest of all (or the eyepatch wearing drape runner lady but I'm not at that point yet) and often merely functions as a messenger or meeting point for several others. He's just kind of there sometimes. All those Cooper scenes and the Horne family though... the stuff of greatness.

Always liked this line from the X Japan song 'Art of Life': - "You build a wall of morality and take a breath from between the bricks" It's rather straightforward, nothing too deep or philosophical or anything. Just... nice and (even if I never used it myself) it's applicable for a lot of people and in a lot of situations.

I wasn't sarcastic. Teenagers and overly sentimental attachment music.. well, puberty, right? And music is not the same as the musician. Soundwaves and flesh, they're different things. Emotional attachment to a song: fine. Emotional attachment to the stranger who made the song and decides to move on to other things in their life you are not a part of: odd and misplaced. I understand teens may feel more attached to a musician because they're not only looking for comfort and/or entertainment, they may also be looking for heroes to look up to. That's not wrong or sad, no, but it is a sign of a weaker character in my eyes. Then again, everyone was weak and insecure at some point when they're young. Yes I judge people if they cry over some musician who calls it quits. It shows they are weak (I might add at that point in their lives). That is my unpopular opinion. You judge people who judge people who cry over some musician who calls it quits. And Earth makes another rotation and another and another.

Oh come on. That's just going to move the end time of the concert for no reason. Real convenient for those who travel for hours to get to the venue and want to catch a train back...

Yes, because a pet is the same thing as a few people with instruments on the other side of the world whom you only know from photoshopped pictures and audio files on the internet. What kind of silly comparison is that. I think it's a sign of a weak personality if you get so "attached" to some group of musicians that you make a big fuss about it or even (pretend to) cry if they quit. And that's not limited to indie bands. Might as well be Iron Maiden or something.

That guy on the right thinks he's the alpha lion!

It's generally seen as their best by a lot of DIR EN GREY listeners so how unpopular is this opinion exactly? I had to spend about 20 seconds on the internet to find this: "I had never heard of this band and was barely aware of the Visual Kei scene, so this was all new to me. I was quite shocked to hear the title track, an absolutely ripping power metal cut at an insanely fast tempo. The raw edge of the sound was immediately thrilling. It sounded like I had just discovered a holy grail of metal that had bizarrely gone unknown to me after 23 years of loving metal. Sadly the next two songs were pretty crappy generic 80s metal in the vein of W.A.S.P." ... Source: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/x_japan/blue_blood/

In Japanese music I got none... at least not besides obvious choices like Yoshiki. Worldwide however, there's Nico. Wonderful voice and wonderful songs but she was a severe drug addict and had some racist views. Not too happy with that. It's just a matter of time before someone brings up

I'm with the Jig on this one. This is mediocre at best. I expected more from D'ERLANGER. Of course I'll check out the album but this song is one to skip.

YES. That or they put up an edited picture like this, as if they want the boys to become like those little monsters in Final Fantasy or similar games who eventually merge into one another to form a bigger creature.

That new and hyped Sufjan Stevens record is a summary of everything I strongly dislike about that sentimental singerysongwritery "indie" rubbish. I really TRIED but failed to see what's so appealing.

If CAT5 ever opened a record store it would look like this (and I would be his favorite customer).

That's a lot of words for saying nothing at all. How did you expect saying everyone disgusts you will work out if you're "trying to get a point across"? Anyway, I don't think anyone is boycotting the non-Japanese -vk?- scene just because... because. People don't see any noteworthy groups, that's all. Where's the western answer to Versailles or the GazettE or even a newer group like MEJIBRAY? We only see bands formed by boys who are not just inspired by these visual kei acts, which would be okay, but merely try to copy them and doing terrible at that. There's another thread somewhere on this forum that hosts a very large collection of what I'm talking about: all talentless hacks who likely don't even have a team of ghost writers to back them up like many Japanese vk acts do (presumably). Though YOHIO is slightly more popular than those, there's still a lot of people who would add them to that thread without hesitation. I bet if a Swedish or American group started dressing like Kamijo&buddies AND has some good memorable tunes while they're at it, people WILL listen to them. But right now there's simply nothing to support in the western -vk?- scene, and I don't know if there ever will be. So what good does it do to support "visual kei" acts outside of Japan if they're even worse than the mediocre acts in Japan right now? [edit] If you're worried about a dying vk scene, but you start supporting bad groups who resemble vk who are not from Japan, I think that you are in fact contributing a little bit to the scene dying. Not that I myself care too much about this (I live in the past anyway ) , but just... you know... it's not really helping, that's all.

Dear moderately mad Jon-jon, I'm certain Rocketeer knows that visual kei has most its origins in the glam rock scene. You don't have to educate her on that and certainly not in such a belittling manner. Why else do you think she lists Mötley Crüe, Poison and Cinderella. Not sure if that last sentence of your post is meant comically or if you're dead serious. If you're serious: where did you get that idea from? And which groups do you think we ought to support if not this one?

Heh, the last two posts remind me of typical vague MSN status updates.

My friends generally want to play games but only those competitive ones where you... kill eachother. Instead of playing with eachother, they prefer to play against eachother and I'm so done with that. I prefer to play some Civilization or other strategic game where we team up to achieve a bigger goal rather than to engage in war and slaughter eachother. I prefer to team up against some giant dragon or other monster in an RPG rather than shoot eachother in Call of Duty.

First baby ducklings of the year have been spotted! (I live near the edge of a small lake so ducks and swans are literally my closest friends) so cuuuuuute

They do these revivals sometimes and I assume they'll keep doing them . Did one back in 2005 and that other one in 2010 when they even went to Paris to perform at the Japan Expo. I hope they do something similar this time. I wouldn't mind planning a trip to a big European city and see SEIKIMA-II while I'm at it.

Only TRVE 'STACHE is HAIR 'stache. Just ask Salvador Dali, Charlie Chaplin, Vincent Price, Clark Gable, Frank Zappa, Ron Jeremy, Dr. Phil and Adolf Hitler. I am sure they will all agree with me.

It makes a difference! Paint is make-up. It's not the same thing as real hair. I'll never listen to Malice Mizer again now that I know this. The feeling of betrayal.

Bagpipes are the worst instruments known to man. The only thing that I can imagine to be more painful to the ear is if these demonic devices provide the background music to J-indie whisperscream choruses while a duet of Nicki Minaj and Sam Smith sing the verses. Throw in a Jupiter-tuned guitar solo and a dubstep breakdown and we got ourselves a kind of HELL the likes of which would frustrate even Satan and fill him with jealousy. Meanwhile I am downloading several b-movies of the horror and sci-fi genres that will probably feel like fairytales in contrast to the above.

Ehh, right, makes sense? So I completely forgot about this song. I hope that uploading this video now is not because it's in tune with what's to come...

Damn, that's awful. And this song's supposed to appear on the next record? Abandon ship.
