Finally finished up with ys 8, really great game overall, would recommend to anyone looking for a really well put together and fun arpg. The story got predictable and a little slow near the end, but it didn't effect how my overall opinion.
Started Valkyiria Chronicles 4, so far so good. I like that it's a clear call back to the first and gameplay remains as addicting as ever, but man can you feel the lack of budget sometimes. Animations are stiff and limited, cutscenes last a couple of seconds and character models look like tweaked enhancements from the first game. Story and characters are pretty bland so far as well. I'll probably stick with it until the end because combat remains enjoyable, Dragon Quest 11 is staring me down as I contemplate it tho

That's awesome! Where are you going to be visiting while in Japan? If you're going to be in Tokyo, then there are a bunch of cool visual kei CD shops and clothing stores to check out. Osaka also has a nice handful of shops and places to go as well, although Osaka is a little more spread out in terms of the location of every shop.
 
Here is a useful website for starters. It lists some shops, stores, PV filming locations, and other things to see related to VK/Jrock: http://www.vkeiguide.com/ (It looks up-to-date, but it's missing quite a lot of CD shops.)
 
Harajuku (in Shibuya, Tokyo) has tons of VK clothing stores. Unfortunately, I can't remember where all of them are, but it all sits on one street (Takeshita Doori), so it won't be too hard to find. Many of the VK clothing shops in Harajuku are located in a huge department store, La Foret. (Here is the link: https://www.laforet.ne.jp/en/).

I apologize for not being able to point out any Nagoya kei related stuff  I think there are some people on the forum who currently live in Tokyo, so they might know more about it ^^ I'm more familiar with Osaka if you're going there and have any questions about it  (I apologize in advance if my post sounds like one huge ramble ^^;)

It's that time of year again, where we make our annual end-of-the-year predictions! 2018 was rocked by some game changers such as KIZU and DIMLIM, the incredible debut of the legendary J-POP unit 8P-SB, the shocking departures from NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST, and the upcoming return of longtime band DuelJewel! 
 
What's in store for visual kei and Jrock in 2019?! Did you think vk 2018 was exciting or just a long snoozer? Or are we in for an apocalypse to kill this genre dead once and for all? I second the hate for most colorful bands. Can't stand them, especially An Cafe. I also can't stand X Japan. Their music isn't terrible, but their fans treat them like the second coming of jesus when in reality they sound just like any other western 80's metal band. This triggers a special kind of annoyance whenever I hear them. Also I hate Versailles and anything Kamijo does.

I love them to this day, but I always thought "9GOATS BLACKOUT" was an awful name for a band. This has been confirmed every single time someone shows interest in what I'm listening to.
"Death★Rabbits" is so bad it's good.
"KuRt" always bothered me for multiple reasons; impossible to search for and they really don't sound anything like Nirvana or Kurt Cobain, nor are their lyrics similar/evocative of them in any way. Now that I think about it, Tenten's bands always have awful names, even to this day.
"MASK" and" SCISSOR" loopash two for one- unsearchable, generic, doesn't really fit the band's latter output.
and finally "Unsraw", it's a nasty sounding word, say it out loud.
