I don't care about the visuals in VK:  I say this is an unpopular opinion because I've been told countless times that it's impossible not to care about the visuals and anyone that says that is lying and on and on.  But I don't and I never have. I have some kind of sick attraction to the music itself, but I don't give a flying fuck about the band's appearance and would prefer they didn't look so ridiculous if I had a choice, just so it'd be less embarrassing to point them out to people.

I don't think Inoran is a solo kinda guy in general. He doesn't do it in his solo work either. Idk, I tend to like guitarists whose playing doesn't revolve around the ~solo~

idk, i always think i'm over it, but then i find some random new band and sometimes i still straight binge on the stuff.  at this point i very srsly doubt i'll ever be "over it" lol

Unpopular because about 75% of the time I meet fans of bands I like, they always say their first albums were the best, like it's just an automatic, understood thing.
 
Now, this is not exclusive to the J-fandom, I've observed it loads in Western music before I ever got into Japanese stuff.  But I've never gotten it.  Why does everyone parrot that the first album is omg the best ever and then they totally sold out desu desu one one.  I can name so many examples: D'espairsRay, MUCC, 12012, Gazette, Meth (for them it was actually their first single or something really stupid), L'arc (lmao) and on and on.  Me personally, I very rarely find any band's debut to be their best.  In fact, far from it.  Kinda like a writer's first novel is usually shit personified.  I don't mean first published, I mean actual FIRST.  Bands grow, bands get better at what they do and the same generally goes for every art form.  Some of them DO have uncommonly good debuts, but that is the EXCEPTION, not the norm.
 
You are not extra edgy or indie for liking their first album THE BEST, thereby providing some kind of unsaid proof that you've liked them since ~forever~

↑ Lol Kpop fans are so obnoxious, I avoid them like the plague. They're either creepy and stalkerish or obsessed and uptight with it being "problematic". I don't get that fandom at all.

I think it's mostly the visuals and the glamour of it all. If someone was almost exclusively into VK bands, who mostly play rock music, then the logical step for them to take if they wanted to try some Korean music would be Korean rock bands. But most Kpop fans entirely ignore any form of rock coming from Korea, yet some of them continue listening to VK because they "also like rock music". Ok, so why not K-Rock then? Maybe because they actually like "Asian pretty boy music" and the rest are just excuses and rationalizations for their superficiality. Of course I think it's fine to listen to Kpop and whatever you want if you actually do like plenty of different music, it's understandable that people enjoy a variety of music and genres. Kpop is fun music, I myself don't like it, but it's pretty easy to like, that's for sure. But obsessing only over VK and Kpop and ignoring everything else is pretty telling of having 0 interest in the music itself.

The cynic in me wants to say that the reason is probably "lol omg da guise look so hot xd"

I have some thoughts regarding elitism that I thought might be relevant here.
From my perspective, I've come across what I'd personally categorize as two different kinds of elitists. The main thing separating these two would be their motivations.
The first type of elitist I like to call the "psuedo-elitist". For me, this is the most common type. This type of elitist is driven by insecurity. They feel the need to bash and criticize any and everything they don't like in an effort to validate their own tastes. Some of them also make it their mission to learn as much about music as possible and to listen to all of the "objective" music classics - which is nice, but they don't do it for the sake of the knowledge alone - they do it so they can feel like they have a leg up on others. Some of this type are actually really knowledgeable, but unfortunately, they wield that knowledge from an unbalanced place and use it to boost their egos instead of shedding light in a healthy fashion. More often than not, they also lack individuality because they're constantly looking outside of themselves for validation instead allowing themselves to trust and appreciate their own, unique music taste. Most of this kind aren't even aware of themselves, so they end up coming off as assholes - or just looking like clowns to those who can see through them. They're usually troublesome to talk music with because they're too wrapped up in their own egos to properly perform the dance that is conversation.
The second type of elitist probably doesn't even personally identify with the term "elitist" and you'd probably never catch these guys referring to themselves as such. They have discerning tastes and they may be super knowledgeable about music, but they are self-validated and don't look outwards to "objective" standards - they define their own taste, they come up with their own ideas about music, and they completely OWN however they feel about music, regardless of anyone else's opinion. These people understand subjectivity and that their perspective is really not "elite" at all. They're able to seamlessly interface with music fans of all kinds. They're pleasant to talk to because they're more interested in exchanging perspectives, as opposed to trying to force their own opinion on others or prove that their opinion is somehow "right".
Thankfully, the first type can become the second type later on if they wish. I definitely went through a "pseudo-elitist" phase when I was younger, which I'm glad I grew out of.

I used to get really annoyed at bad, stupid or cheesy lyrics in songs so once I found music not in English, I never looked back lol.  Even though I do understand some Japanese, Korean and Chinese, it's not enough to put together a complex meaning in the space of a song and v.easy to not even think about.  I just prefer music to be sounds I don't have to think about, Idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
