My poor poor backlog....

as per usual I'm continuing my trek through the Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. anime timeline this holiday with ZZ Gundam. This has become somewhat of a Christmas/new years tradition the past few years, since I decided in 2015 to re-watch the entire timeline chronologically by production date. I'm gonna try to actually keep going throughout the year this time though... otherwise it'll take me ten years to get through every series XD
 
oh and expect a 2017 top 10 anime rundown from me in the first few weeks of 2018. I've already got the list nailed down, just got to find the time to do a write up on it all.

I just played Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and got nauseous within an hour or so lol..........it's gonna take me a while to get through this game...

btw my massdrop O2 + SDAC came tonight as well, freaking talk about a amazing amp/dac combo right here, my HD 579's sounds ridiculous compared to before. Now to just wait till march for those 6xx
 

Aside from my SONY MDR1000x with the built-in amp turned off, I'm trying to test out some Audio Technica (ATH-M50X) Headphones that I forgot I had lol but they are entry-level sounding compared to a 600 series from Sennheiser.

Apparently these are going to go for $150, which is an AMAZING deal for entry-level Sennheiser Headphones.
What makes this deal even more tempting is the use of 150-ohm drivers (the same drivers that the NEW HD660 S use), with tuned settings to compensate the much-lowered price tag, they are homage to the HD580 headphones from the 90's, which created the then legendary 600 series audiophiles have come to love.
 
I'm going to wait until release day to order, with hopes that they live up to the hype that a couple reviewers have recently posted about them.
Apparently they are HD600-like, with less treble, and much lower bass, almost disappointing bass.
Sennheiser is apparently still in the works on these, and that they hope to fix this lower frequency issue in order to address and improve the bass to the HD58x.
 
Edit: I forgot to mention that I upgraded my Schiit Audio Setup (also known as a Schiit Stack (Schiit Magni + Schiit Modi)), as the new Magni 3 just came out, and I gotta say it sounds about the same lol.
 
I will test the HD58x when I get my hands on them and see how these do under the Amp/DAC from Schiit.

habits die hard, and plus I haven't had major problems with their scrobbler desktop and mobile plugin in over half a decade, so it's just really easy to install and get going now a days that there's really no reason not to be using it for me.

Ten years ago on this exact day my thirteen year old self was browsing myspace, like most kids my age back then did in their free time, when I came across a post on a Jrock group I frequented at the time. The post was by a "Jake" advertising a brand new Jrock forum that he and a friend created just earlier that day. At the time I was chomping at the bit for any new way to discover new Japanese rock music (VK in particular), I immediately registered and became the fourth member of that brand new empty forum. That forum's name was Tainted World and the Jake and friend in question were none other than Spike760 and Ito.
 
Since that day I have had many ups and downs with this community for better and worse. I've discovered a thousand or more bands, talked with hundreds of people from all corners of the world, made dozens of friends and like minded acquaintances, and even made a few enemies as well. I have witnessed every drama thread/post/chat log that this forum has generated, participated in profound thought invoking discussions that have sprouted up in various topics over the course of a decade, and even was here to witness the almost catastrophic implosion of the site back in 2010-2011 that led to the current domain name. I became a moderator and for a time actually did my job quite well (LOL) this gave me a direct line to grow the community in other ways than just music, in those efforts I would like to believe that the anime and video game fans of the community found this place a little more accommodating and welcome.
 
In ten years my musical taste has gone through multiple transformations that were no doubt in big part due to the people here in this community. I have grown as a person due to my time here, I've learned how to deal with life's unfortunate circumstances and how to cope when things go bad. This place has been a eternal sanctuary for me in my depressing and boredom filled times. I'm now twenty four years old and no longer the child I was when I came to this place, that in itself is a little sad, since my most fun and memorable moments were from those early years when I was still in middle and high school just trying to find a place I could fit in and kill some time.
 
But one thing is for sure... This place is a second home for me, no matter how busy my life gets I know that I can come back here and just be myself and feel good about it.
 
Ten years? I say that's not enough. I won't be satisfied until I can say I've been apart of this place for 20 years, what the hell fuck it. 30 years! Why not? WE CAN KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE  AS LONG AS WE BELIEVE!

Haven't had any strong opinions on Ballroom e Youkoso so far but episode 9 was really enjoyable.
 
 

I would not say that. One of the things Game of Thrones has done well throughout the series is the use of CGI. They've never gone full retard with it. At least not very often. Even the scenes which are 90% CGI it's usually looked good, much of it because they've used CGI for the unimportant parts, and kept the important parts real.
 
The Night King is a good example of this, and how to properly use CGI to get the best results. He's not entirely CGI, but 98% prosthetics with just a bit of CGI to get the finishing touch. 99,9% of Hollywood blockbusters nowadays would've made him entirely CGI.
 
This here is a great example too, even though it's not looking perfect:
 

 
Again, in a Hollywood blockbuster the special effects woulda been entirely CGI, while in Game of Thrones it's 80% practical effects and 20% CGI for the face. It's just a nice example of how to do things.
 
Now there's times where they've gone a bit over the top with the CGI, but that's more the exception rather than the rule in Game of Thrones.
 
But as far as CGI goes, it's never been the CGI itself that's the problem. But how it's been used. Same as with auto-tune, programmed drums, drum triggers/samples and so fucking on. As long as you don't go full retard there's no problem with it, and same goes for CGI. "CG is a very specific tool, like a hammer. It is good for certain uses, but when you wish to saw a board a hammer is useless.". This quote is spot on. There's a reason why the CGI in 1993's Jurassic Park may be the best CGI ever, and it's not because they had the tools we have today. It's entirely because of how it's used in the film. Perfection! In recent times Mad Max: Fury Road comes to mind as a superb example of how to use CGI. Thing there is tat most people don't realize that the film is FULL of CGI, but it's just that the majority of the important things are the real deal.
 
 

 
 
 
 
I could come up with a shitload of examples here on how not to use CGI. I Am Legend?  The original look of the zombies are absolutely brilliant, but for some reason they were dropped in change for the godawful CGI we see which in turn make the zombies look like something from a poor Playstation 2 game.
 
Another example here is the remae of The Thing. They made som extraordinary practical effects for the film, but again they were either dropped for or overlayed with some cheap, poorly made CGI. Not a great movie to begin with, but when they took away the practical effects they completely fucked the film over. Had they kept all the practical effects the way they originally were, this film would've been remembered for 100 years. Now it was forgotten in 2 becase there's nothing unique or anything in it. But as far as I know, both writer Eric Heisserer and director Matthijs van Heijningen were both totally against CGI and shot the film with practical effects, but as CGI is the trend the studio went over their head and decided to change it, probably because it's what was trendy at the time. But it's weird as CGI is about 5-10 times more expensive than practical effects.

My first custom build! It's got an Intel Core i7-7700 @ 3.60GHz, GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM, 240GB SSD and 1TB HDD. So it's nothing super-duper-awesome but it's enough for me and I guess it's pretty good for the ~1200€ budget I had. And at least it's a lot better than the crappy gaming laptop that I had before.
 
(Though I would've loved if I had found a case with purple leds and stuff instead of blue, pretty much everything in my apartment is purple so it would've been more aesthetic I guess... I really love purple okay)

dude i think about this all the time... I actually have already experienced this back in 2015 when one of my close gaming buddies died suddenly. Like it's a really weird feeling, someone who I talked to almost everyday over voice chat for years   just gone like that. A online friend who I never met irl, but constantly was there for me to just blow some steam off with after shitty days. It's a rough experience that's for sure.
 
The hardest part is working up the courage to go looking for answers. In my case it had been weeks without contact and no activity on the account, several messages gone ignored and that was when I finally knew something was wrong. Luckily I knew his real name and a quick google search later revealed a obituary entry which then later I confirmed to be him through facebook. I never have felt my heart sink so fast in my life....
 
The second hardest part is breaking the news to the circle of online friends that also knew him and were just as close as I was... Toughest thing I've ever had to do and I do not wish the experience upon anybody. The stuff that really keeps me up at night are the questions, to this day I still don't know what happened. Was it a accident? complication? who knows. I start theorizing and things that I remember start standing out as sorta fishy, like different facts that don't quite seem right or at least doesn't match up with what I knew about the person and his life. Then I start wondering whether things weren't as good with him as he was letting on, maybe he was intentionally not telling us things because he didn't want us to worry or have even more emotional baggage.

I'm now back at 24k, but my chart numbers don't really reflect that since I listen to so many different bands and artists XD also it's funny that Diru is #1 because I almost never listen to them on purpose.... I have their entire discography and like a few dozen live audio rips, so they come up a lot when I listen to my collection on shuffle.
