So apparently people can understand the meaning of "do not credit me" but don't understand the meaning of "do not use this link". People that don't listen are the reasons why we can't have nice things.

  People can be disrespectful and greedy, ignoring the person who has kindly asked not to do something, thinking it's fine to not fulfil their one ask. This is just one of those things I hope people will learn to understand and appreciate, since no one would like being ignored like that. Your last sentence pretty much sums up everything.
