If there's a band out there that relies on passively prostituting underage / barely legal girls in order to fund their band project, they are terrible people and I wouldn't want to listen to their band anyway.

Small bands from all over the world are poor and what not, yet most of them are fully capable to continue their band, recording albums and releasing them, and play live now and then despite never having played for a crowd bigger than 30, and despite never having been paid anything for their lives. It's in fact the opposite, they have to spend loads of money to be able to play live.
Money ain't that big of an issue unless you:'er into it because of the money. Lack of money might hold you back a few years. You might not get to record and release it right now, but waiting a year or two should'n make you disappear, unless you're into it for all the wrong reasons.
Even the heroin addicts living on the streets here, with no income whatsoever other than the bottles they find on the street and what random people give them, are capable of recording and releassing here. How? They save small amounts of money whenever they can to be able to fullfill their dreams, even if it takes them a decade. Spirit!

Trombe already writes in a few words in his thread titles what the thread is about. It takes less than 5 seconds to read that thread title and decide whether you're going to click on it, so I wouldn't say that it's taking a lot of time to figure out what the thread is about. What's next, should we install an audio button and let CAT5 record the thread titles so he can read them FOR you?

As many members have said before, it's not that complicated or confusing that it needs changing. I agree with Champ on the fact that if we'd be making changes to the News section we'd definitely have to run them by Trombe, considering it's his section.

These are the only VK bands I still listen to on a regular basis, so I guess this list is the best to make atm.

also this has to be the worst BT PV entertaining-wise and I know Jigsaw9 will at least agree with me here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2mA4WOjgqE

This is just SO BORING. I mean the song is okay but the only thing that's happening in this PV is some vague shots of the lead singer while he's lying on the floor while the other members strut around a bit blurry in the background. That's literally all this video is.

A live distributed CD to be released. (◕‿◕✿)

    Artist: DIR EN GREY
Title: 女々しくて (Shot In One Take) (memeshikute) (Original by Golden Bomber) Release Date: 2014.14.14 Tracklist: 01. DIR EN GREY - 女々しくて (Shot In One Take)

The song itself was secretly recorded in 2010 immediately once they had listened to it for the first time after getting a signed copy; unfortunately, it has been postponed to be released from time to time because the staff didn't let them include it in the deluxe limited edition of DSS as a bonus track.

    Hey guys,

In this thread I thought we could try putting together tribute albums we would love to see.
There are no rules, make up whatever choices you want.

    Suggestions:
You may want to either choose one artist to be covered by multiple others, like Hide Tribute, with or without a theme.
You may choose an era to be covered, like CRUSH.
You may choose multiple artists from any era to be covered by one artist, etc...

    Here`s one to start:

    Alice Nine Tribute Album:

RAINBOWS - Takanori Nishikawa (Shou`s hero).
    Time Machine - DIV
Fantasy - L`Arc en Ciel (Hyde is another of Shou`s heroes).
White Prayer - Luna Sea (Heavily influenced A9).
Blue Planet - UNiTE (Think this is a great match)
    Velvet - Dir en Grey
    Heart of Gold - SID
Senkou - Kra (I think Taizo would kill this on guitar!)
Heisei Juushichinen - Aoi (Think his energy would rule in this song).

Let me know what you think, and post up your own ideas!

I would go with J from LUNA SEA, definitely when it comes to men. Also 凛として時雨's TK looks very handsome imo. Takeshi from Boris too. I only noticed at a conert though, haha. Morrie from DEAD END and Atsushi Sakurai from BUCK-TICK have looked better in the past, tbqh, currently...eh.

For females I'd have to say Shiina Ringo too! And AI, the j-pop singer, whoa.

There's nothing wrong with 128k and 192k - I have TONS of music at these bitrates. And no shit, sherlock - pirating is illegal! That's not going to stop people from sharing music and it never has. If you're going to do something illegal, you might as well do it well. You may personally be satisfied with 128k and 192k, but in this day and age, many people prefer higher rips - so WHY NOT just rip music at the widely preferred bitrates? That way, people like yourself as well as people who are sticklers for audio quality will be pleased.

Firstly, I never said that files should be at least 320k. There are a variety of different formats that people find more satisfactory than 128k and 192k (personally I prefer v0 and 320k). If you're even vaguely educated about bitrates and you deliberately choose to rip your CD at a bitrate that YOU KNOW people generally dislike, then YES - YES I WOULD CONSIDER YOU AN ASSHOLE! Ripping music at high lossy bitrates DOES NOT require any extra effort. Sure, people are free to rip their music at whatever bitrate they choose, but I'm also free to think you're an asshole if you rip your music in low quality when you could easily rip at more preferable bitrates with the click of a mouse.

Context is key here, so I need to clarify my "share to the fullest" mantra. If you're going to upload something, don't intentionally downgrade the quality because you feel that people should go buy the album or something silly like that. People are gonna be people - and if someone really wants to buy an album, they'll buy it regardless of the bitrate that it was shared in.
I agree that people shouldn't complain about bitrates (sometimes it's impossible to find an HQ rip), but if you actually own a CD and you INTENTIONALLY rip it at a bitrate that is generally unacceptable, then you're an asshole. That's what I mean by sharing to the fullest. Now "fullest" is highly subjective, but in general most people have no problems with V0, 320, or lossless.

It's like you said, Champ - I also look at uploading as a community service - so why half-ass it? Ripping something at a bitrate that most people prefer (aka the ppl you're servicing), is hardly a daunting task (click of a mouse, really). But with that said, if you're uploading files that you didn't rip yourself and you have no control over the bitrate, then that's fine - people shouldn't bitch over stuff like that. I've got tons of old and obscure stuff in inferior bitrates, but I'm damn grateful to have them.

I really don't care whether my favourite band uses the small amount of money they make from CDs (which isn't quite a lot, considering a lot of the album sales money is used to pay other people involved in the process of making a CD, as someone already stated before me) to take their kids to the zoo or sniff coke from a prostitute's behind. The money they make because I spend it on them is theirs and they can do whatever they want with it, unless they're using it to support neo-nazi's or smth like that lol (then obviously I wouldn't put money into people who support that sort of thing). They put effort and time into making the music so I shouldn't feel entitled just because I bought that CD that they should do what I want them to do.

Just buy what you enjoy from a band. They released an album you didn't like? Too bad, then don't buy it. But don't start whining that you spent so much money on them and now they're "doing this to you and you feel so betrayed". A band does whatever they want musically (unless in specific cases with awful contracts or whatever but then again it's still up the band itself to decide to go major and in the process lose some of their individuality) and if you don't enjoy it you should just not support it.

I agree with this! I know all music forums have both leechers and active community members, but in my personal opinion quite a bit of visual kei fans have started to feel so incredibly entitled lately to have the releases they want on the release date and if they don't they start throwing hissyfits about it. The really old VK veterans had to trade to get the stuff they wanted, they had to climb mountains, cross rivers, fight dragons for that one Gazette release

I remember when someone bought the limited edition of an album and uploaded it and also promised to make a DVD rip and people legitly started spamming their thread with impatient and rude messages as to why the DVD (which was a full live DVD in ISO so you can imagine the size of that file + the time it would need to rip/upload) wasn't uploaded yet only two days after the initial album was posted.

People need to realize that behind every file there is a person who bought that release, probably paid a shitload for shipping (if they're physical copies) and then was so kind to rip it to their computer in a good quality and share it with the rest of the world. You don't even have to press thanks or even say it, I just wish more people realized this before they start calling someone a liar or an ass.

Though concerning bitrate, I've always been on CAT's side with this: share it to the fullest or don't share at all. People who upload releases in 128-192kbps and say "go buy the album if you want a better quality" are obviously not sharing the release to share awesome music and give one of their favourite artists more exposure, but purely because they want a big e-penis. "Oh look at my 320/Lossless rip of that album that you can't have lol", is something I'm very much against. On one side I'm like "yeah okay I'm happy people share it at all" (especially since I've gotten into a lot of Japanese regular indie music, where it's a lot harder to come by releases than it is in VK) but sharing bad quality isn't going to solve the problem. If you really share a lower bitrate to have more people buy the album, then I've got some news for you: it doesn't work. A lot of VK fans don't care about bitrate that much (as long as it's listenable), especially if they're young and don't have the cash to import VK CDs from Japan. I actually would feel more opposed to purchasing an album I only have an 128 rip of because it misses a lot of details that I can hear in a 320 rip. Good quality can just really enhance the musical experience, at least, that's how I see it. People who want to buy the album will buy it anyway, this "here's a low quality"-method doesn't work and it makes you look like a douche, sorry.

Yes, but the difference here is that you didn't intend to lower the bitrate. In your case it just happened because you weren't familiar with the ripping proces and everyone can make such mistakes in the beginning ! The ones I mean are the ones that know what they're doing and choose to go for bitrates like 128 kbps.

You know, it doesn't really feel like they're sharing to spread awesome music and share their love of the artist with others. When I find a cool album and purchase it and then share it with my friends, I do it because I enjoyed that release and want to expose it to more people, so that maybe other people will find new music that they'll enjoy and that will make them happy. If I share (though I haven't shared in ages) I do it out of love for music. There's nothing wrong with actually stating "please buy the CD if you enjoyed this release!", in my personal opinion it just doesn't feel right if you put it as an excuse NOT to share to the fullest. But hey, everyone should share how they want, I'm not entitled to anything and if they want to do this be my guest.

I agree with CAT on the matter that sharing low quality out of spite isn't the best thing to do. It's probably better to explain the situation to them and if they don't want to listen then they're really not worth your time. As stated before, people can be so awfully entitled to certain things!

I do agree that everyone should be free in how they rip their CDs, but there's nothing wrong with personally disliking certain mentalities. Take CAT for example, CAT shares his stuff out of love and passion for music, and because it's his mentality that he'd like to enjoy music to the fullest, he'll always share the highest possible bitrate he can get his hands on, whether that is a 320 or a 192 rip. Other people don't have this mentality and mostly do it because they want to receive a lot of status on this forum and in the online VK community. Like I said, if they want to share it that way I won't be the one to complain in their thread, I'll take the file and be grateful for it, because they still purchased it and took the effort to upload it (they could've chosen just not to), but I guess my mentality is just different.
