Saikou's got a 2-for-1 sale on sentimental posts today :P  I've been listening to Paper Plane a lot because it's my fav B-side on B-men Gahou 2 Electric Boogaloo and because it's an unusually positive entry... I dunno, I'm done with feeling down in the dumps. Not just about MH but 2020 in general. I want to look towards the future that we are all a part of in making. Let's make a better tomorrow, together

  2. Only one song captures how I feel perfectly. Sayonara, Goodbye... I'll see you guys on a different road ✌️

The lyrics are beautiful and have me cry a few times... Here's my translation of the last chorus and verses (3:28) :)

    Don't you cry

If those tears happen to be for me

    Don't you cry

If those tears happen to be my fault

Let's go on with our separate lives

    Don't you cry

There's nothing that I wouldn't do for you

    Don't you cry

The days where we laughed together fade away

    In these revolving seasons

    The winds will blow

(And we'll) be going on our separate paths

    Sayonara Goodbye

    Don't cry anymore

    Sayonara Goodbye

  3. (I'm not sure where this topic belongs so I'm putting it here) I was curious about how to save my history here so I found that this is the method that works for me :D I discussed this with @platy and she said it would be a good idea to write up a tutorial in case anyone else would like to do the same. I understand that there will be an archive but I’m not sure how comprehensive it will be (though I've an idea, they usually look something like this), so I felt like I should back it up myself just in case.

Some forums have a “download/export” button for users to download history with (usually BBC code style forums [you know the ones] have these for threads). However, you can still easily export your history into different formats with Google Chrome.

Before we begin: I’m converting my history into a complete HTML webpage. What does that mean for how my history will appear?

What you keep in addition to your words: Emojis, tags, reactions, a banner, some of your cover photo and people’s avatars will stay intact

What you lose: Videos, pictures, the ability to go to the next page, to see hidden responses, to leave the page you are currently on.

Warning: Long posts get truncated so if you posted a huge response that you want to save in its entirety, you have three options:

    1. Right click on the desired page in your content history page and choose “View page source”. On the page source, MH will be turned into a mess of plain HTML BUT your posts will be in full. Proceed to save this page.
    2. Save the thread as a whole (Follow the numbered process below but on a thread instead)

    3. Copy/paste into Google Docs

I’m not sure how else to save truncated posts or how to make this process easier for our veteran users. It takes like 5-10 seconds to download one page so my own history (16 pages @300-ish posts) doesn’t seem that daunting to me but if you have thousands of posts then it sounds like a hassle. If anyone with better insight can suggest something better, please do!
    Let’s begin!

    1. Let’s start at your profile. If you want to save your profile as it appears right now, right click on anything that isn’t a picture/discussion box and press “save as”

    2. Here, you can choose three save options. I suggest saving as “Webpage, complete” so your profile has pictures and the like. These pages only take up like 300kb so it’s really no extra strain on your computer to save them like this over the other formats. You also get a separate folder for elements like reaction.pngs, the banners, and people’s profile pictures! You may choose to save as HTML (no pics) or as a single file only as well. Okay, now you’ve got your profile forever encapsulated on your hard drive. However, that will only include some of your recent posts, let’s get all of them.

    3. Click on “See your activity” in the right hand side under your cover photo. If you saved your profile like earlier, then try again here to download this page’s worth of posts. You can also choose what to save in the left-hand box, if you just want your forum replies etc. then choose that option.

    4. Awesome! Now you’ve got your first page saved. However, that will just be one page. You need to go to the next page and repeat the process until you feel satisfied. Do not forget to change the name of your page when you try to download it. You can change it into whatever you like, such as “[user]’s content 2” or “My posts part 2” but you need to make sure that it’s different so that it won’t overwrite

  4. Heya! Welcome aboard. I agree with @suji, your band list is totally (as I would say) SAIKOU! Anyway, I hope you have a good time and feel like you're at home 'round here. Don't be afraid to send me a PM and talk VK if you want ❤️

  5. On my journey to buy every Ryutaro cover Rock and Read, I put all of them on CDJapan in backorder. Yeah I'm broke (there's a lot more on the way lol) but it was 100% worth it, I totally needed this pick me up after this fuckin' week.

  6. Okay, so this is very silly but like a few months ago I saw this interesting interview on Youtube and I can't find it anymore because I apparently forgot to save it. I could've sworn I did, but it's not there. There are no deleted vids in my playlist either so it didn't get deleted if I did save it. I've looked it up in Japanese and English, with different search terms in both languages, and so far, nothing.

Anyway, it's this Plastic Tree Ryutaro interview taken during their beginning major debut (97), it had like a mini ad/mention of Hide and Seek if I remember correctly. It was filmed in an office at Warner Japan and featured one of their CEOs(?) interviewing him.  CEO-san is a white man, if that narrows it down. He goes up to Ryutaro and is like "Yo yo homie, how's it cookin' how ya doin'?" in English and Ryutaro just responds with "... Nani?", then it cuts to them talking in Japanese. The conversation steers to "Things you will sell" and Ryutaro says he wants to sell his special umbrella with a weird name for like 1 200 Yen. Then it's "Things you want to buy" and Ryutaro says he wants to buy exotic pets. CEO-san is like "What kinda pets?" and Ryutaro says "Fire Ants" and says he'll pay like 5 000 Yen for a fire ant farm.

Anyway, I hope that description narrows it down enough. I really want to see this interview again and I hope someone can help me out if they remember/have seen it before. There's a possibility it was deleted but I wanna see if anyone has it saved themselves.

Ha, my mistake!  No photographs of Japanese rock stars yet, but maybe when I make it to Japan I can address that.

Haha, that's okay, it's always nice to have a new face come around here regardless. There's not much photography talk around here unless it pertains to magazine scans, so you might feel a bit lonely if you stayed around. Anyway, good luck on the photography! If you do take some pics of our favourite Japanese rockstars, then please post them here one day, we'd love to see 'em :D

I am from the Midwest USA and have been photographing for decades.  As for monochrome photography, I am shooting with a Leica M4-P and Kodak Tri-X film and a Leica M10 Monochrom that I acquired in July of this year.  Thanks for bringing me onboard as a member!

Welcome to MH! Umm... This isn't a photography forum, this is a Japanese rock and Visual Kei forum. Do you take pictures of Japanese rockstars, maybe?

  9. I've been reading some of my VK books that I have in my collection when I have free time. The Malice Mizer interview book 異端審問 (Itanjinmon or Inquisition) is fun to pick up for a few minutes and read. So far, I had fun reading about Yu~ki's "Hermit lifestyle", and how Mana-sama loves reading fan mail (yes, he does read as much of it as possible!)

  10. Well, as Whang said, we don't know for sure if this is the true story because he has no evidence. I personally believe it on the grounds that audio shitposting like that is pretty common. Mislabelled Napster files even more so! Even though I'm from a different generation, I've done stuff like that myself back when I was the same age the guy was when he made it (will not link lmao). It's a very plausible explanation but is it too plausible? Hmm, we might never know.

Also, it was fun to see MH and some Monochromians make a cameo in the vid! Like I mentioned earlier, I wonder if Whang lurks around here sometimes...

  12. I've been thinking about this topic for a while, and it especially pertains to Japanese music as this CD format is primarily used in Japanese releases (in both western and Japanese music). SMH-CDs (Super High Material) are produced by JVCKenwood, who you probably know as the parent company of the Victor Entertainment record label. In fact, some Visual Kei artists you might know who are under the Victor label have their releases available in SMH format (such as BUCK-TICK). SHM's close counterpart is known as the SACD (Super Audio), made by Phillips. SMH-CD formats are manufactured differently (basically, they are made of a more transparent material which allows the laser to read it easier but even more detailed info can be found here) and are said to improve the audio quality on the CD.

I'd also like to add that like all Japanese CDs, they are at a premium in comparison to their non-SHM western issues (if they have one, that is), so I'm also theorising that this could be another domestic purchase incentive akin to Japanese bonus tracks.

I've been thinking of buying this format but SMH-CDs are controversial because there is no real evidence that they outperform regular CDs, though many collectors swear that they can hear the difference. Do you have any SMH-CDs and what do think about them? Can you hear a difference or do you think this is just as SHaM-CD format?
