I just watched it as well...awesome! And if anyone is curious, the acoustic song on the limited dvd is not the same one that LIME performed on his solo video.

Are these extra tracks actually part of the same show? Or just some extra footage kinda thing? I got the regular version as didn't care much to pay a load extra for a few photos I'm only going to look at once. 😛 The extra songs however may have been different.

I really, really wonder why they put emphasis on the new artist name, tbh. Almost seems like they want to avoid paying the actual band, DIR EN GREY, so they use a different artist name for the Ambient Collection... but I don't know their contracts of course, so it's just an uninformed assumption lol

I would just assume that it's not really "official" Dir en Grey stuff, like it's not counted in their discography or put on CD sold as Dir En Grey or whatever, if you get what I mean?

+ Lucky that you're getting a copy of the new single physically! When is that even out? I'll keep an eye out online for second hand versions. I'm all in it for the extras, got to be honest I have only listened to the single itself once since getting it. haha.

  3. I gotta admit while I do understand why Vkei bands don't like people taking photos and videos at the same time I don't get it. Like if people are taking photos/videos of bands they can share online or whatever isn't that helping give the bands exposure to people who may not have heard of the bands otherwise? Like see some photos or a video and think "wow, this band look awesome, I'll have to catch another show as that one looked kick ass" sort of thing. And isn't like phone videos of gigs are ever that good that it's going to stop people attending lives or buying the dvds or whatever so seems a bit petty and counter productive in my opinion. Also is worth noting that basically no other genre of music has dumbass rules like this so is weird that vkei does, just seems a bit lame and shit that vkei is like this.

I like the bonus of a different cover I can always see on my shelf rather than a comment DVD I'll only watch once. But I would really rather support the smaller VK shops.

Knowing VK I can almost bet that the "different" cover is basically the same as the normal one just a different colour or something. 😛

Am feeling like there is hope after listening to the samples that the album will be decent after hearing how lack lustre "Ignite" is, definitely got some more of the usual good stuff that you'd expect with this band. Really liking the sound of "Edifice" so far as well so look forward to checking out the full version when my copy arrives.

The Tower Records reservation bonus is a different slipcover. I wonder what it is, but I want to support Laika or little hearts ...

I would just buy it from either of them then, a different slipcover really isn't a big deal right? Is the album itself that matters.

RAZOR have been a bit stale the last couple of years, but Okite is pretty much AOTY material, with STARS being probably the best thing they've ever done.

I've got to admit I did really like "MAD INVISIBLE" even if that wasn't an entirely "new" song. But yeah I feel ya on that one tbh, the full on bangers have been much fewer and further between after the core.

Ignite wasn't convincing, I hope the whole mini-album will be better

Totally feel ya on that one, I feel this EP will make or break the band for a lot of people. Either it's full of a load of generic stuff and people will lose interest or it'll be just as wicked as always (minus ignite) and people will be pleasantly surprised. Got to admit I didn't expect Ignite to be included on the mini album, seems a bit irrelevant that they released it on its own now.

To be honest it's totally possible to sound correct with a drum machine (VST). Just you need to know how to program it, to make it sounds realistic. It's a bit time consuming, but definitely possible.

Yep. But what my point was is that if you have an actual drummer in the band it'd just make more sense to use the actual drummer and keep the production sounding natural as a lot of bands are over producing real drums to the point it sounds like a machine. haha.

  9. Yeah this is totally a bummer, just feels like the number of really good/unique v kei bands is just getting lower and lower. Most of my favourites are/have disbanded or seem to have lost inspiration and are getting lost in the generic sea of v kei.... mehhhhhhh. I'm hoping the rest of these guys go on to produce one or two other awesome bands.

I connect this shit to recent ex-rands member comment regarding 30 hours studio crunches being the norm, and every issei projects releases a lot more than those guys; they probably record a ton of unreleased demos on top of that too.

30 hours? Fuck that. haha. I always kind of wondered how NAZARE's working schedule must be due to how madly active they are, especially when their first release was a 16 track album, that's fast work! But the fact that they release so much stuff does kind of make me wonder if anything goes unreleased tbh. I mean yeah it sounds like working with Issei isn't easy work, but you gotta hand it to the guy that he clearly is dedicated to his bands and is putting in a lot of work into making them successful and to be fair, with DIMLIM and NAZARE becoming popular pretty fast, you can't argue it works but if it's going to drive everyone mad in the process then he needs to just find a handful of guys who are as dedicated and CAN put in as much time and work that he does and would expect. After all, a band is a unit, everyone needs to be doing their bit, can't have one guy being the driving force if everyone else can't keep up with their activities.

Yes, this very much. They just nitpick the best parts of the songs and fit them in the preview, which I end up playing in loop, building up the hype, only to hbe sorely disappointed when the full song comes out. I know, I'm weird. 😂

Haha nah that's not weird, think alot of people probably feel that way to be fair. Get all the epic sections in the preview which each one is surrounded by a load of generic V kei stuff that we've heard a billion times over. I mean I haven't even been into V kei that long, (maybe like 5 years or so?) and I'm already tired of a lot bands sounding horrendously samey and uninspired. Which is why I loved Choke when they first came out, something fresh and they really have their own sound going on, they just have some strange ideas at times.... lol.

My thoughts exactly. From the preview it feels like the sound fits more into CHOKE1 (which I totally loved), but if there's one thing I learned is not to trust previews too much...

That is very true, suppose we will have to wait and see! Previews annoy me with a lot of VK bands these days, like they usually pick the chorus or something which is the most generic part of the song and actually skip all the weird/interesting parts. 😛

  13. Ah balls, sad to see this guys ending but yeah definitely if Mio is struggling personally with mental health and needs some time out then hope he gets well and can be proud of his performances on the releases he put out with NAZARE even if that is his whole musical career. Is highly likely at least Issei will start another band and keep his thing rolling, despite him not being that popular generally, his work in DIMLIM and NAZARE is some of my favourite in VK so look forward to seeing what he does next. RIP NAZARE. + Glad I recently managed to purchase Jingai and Jingai Beyond for decent prices recently.
