It wasn't a long time since they released IN SITU-TABULA RASA DVD By the way, is it me or did they really have more than two promotion tours for THE UNRAVELING?
  2. Pretsy

WHAT THE FUCK I mean, really, my first DEG song at this phase?? Demanding some gig sketches!
  3. "Fortune cookie dance" is already viral though (in many versions, including this) Just go and take a look at niconico douga results for more.

I think vksters these days should seriously discard those Western metalcore/deathcore-worshipping growls/screams and favor deathrock-ish screams/wails ( a la Dir en grey's Myaku, some of Kyoka's screaming in Aliene and Kuroyume's self-titled song for instance) instead. Because of that, most guys out there (for instance, almost every neo-vk band you posted above) end up disappointing people with horrifying results (might mention 12012's Wataru too, but DEG worship is a whole new ballgame...)
  5. Pretsy

In this case, current DEG pvs might fill out certain criteria for "umm...okay, why"-parts bastard child of Kisaki PVs and some tacky post-2005 European heavy metal (Century Media's work comes to my mind for some reason) MVs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amSjXtlRWpQ "umm...hey, we can take some leftovers off the original PV and paste you guys on them! Totally not out-of-place!" Songs are fine, but they deserved much better videos tbh.
  6. Inb4 next D release having some uber-secret track called "Death of Kamijo" Damn

Kuroyume tribute album FUCK THE BORDER LINE -RETAKE- (much better sequel) 1. BUCK-TICK feat. Morrie - Kaitou Jikken (解凍実験) - Not a bad idea for "senpais" to cover their "kouhais'" songs at all! The song is very post-punk-ish (in a way), and thanks to its manic Kiyoharu 3-vocal tracks, I can see Imai , Sakurai and Morrie pulling this out well. 2. the GazettE - Drug People - At least much better song choice than "C.Y. HEAD". Imagine if this were "Agony part. 2". 3. Tommy Heavenly6 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY - The song is very cheery, despite quite sad-toned lyrics, and is easy for Tomoko to do. 4. Mao (SID) feat. SOIL&"PIMP"SESSIONS - HELLO, CP ISOLATION - Every good tribute album needs some wtf-ery, hey! 5. Shiina Ringo x Seiji Kameda ( or Tokyo Jihen, short-lived reunion or w/e) - Jounetsu no Kage (情熱の影) - This calm, funky piece needs definitely Shiina's dramatic vocals in it, and Kameda to convey Hitoki's "Another One Bites the Dust"-influenced bassline. OR it might become a very jazz-heavy masterpiece too! 6. lynch. - MIND BREAKER - It's quite obvious why I chose lynch. for this song - listen to it! 7. Miyavi - NITE&DAY - Considering that Miyavi already "semi-covered" certain Kuroyume songs (with the band itself, lol), I might find this acoustic piece okay for him to do. It's also easy for him to convey that "raw" acoustic sound of the original. 8. MUCC - Tell - I would've chosen more melancholic piece for them but considering Miya's strict "no more negativity"-policy, I had to find a laid-back song for them. Here ya go! 9. DIR EN GREY - Shihainaru Deathmask (201X ver.) (親愛なるDeathmask) - These guys already covered the song back in 1997, but it would've been great to see them remake it - even if it ends up sounding in vein of Kiri to Mayu's 2012 ver. Also, this lets Toshiya and Die shine 10. D'erlanger - Nakigara wo (亡骸を ) - Tetsu can do some magic improvisation with that drumline loop and Cipher can make the guitarline sound so "airy". Very fitting for Kyo's vocal range too. 11. PENICILLIN - DANCE 2 GARNET - Chisato riffing those Shintastic solos and Hakuei going back to his old-schooling, why not? 12. Takanori Nishikawa feat. SEKAI NO OWARI - SEE YOU - Great finale for this tribute album (was used quite often as their "last song"), and Takanori makes wonders with this one (along with SNO ofc) Bonus tracks (ironically, for the sake of cashing in lol): 13. LIPHLICH - Love Me Do - For the sake of adding more Kiyoharu fanboys and WTF song choices 14. Ling Tosite Sigure - ICE MY LIFE - More wtf-ery, more profit! I can see this ending up quite surprising. 15. L'Arc~en~Ciel - For Dear - I can only hope, right? Also, guitar is very Ken-like here. PLUS quite essential song in Kuroyume's repertoire, lol.

@Paradoxal: you should have posted "Kodou" PV too, considering that it's a "prequel" /"flashback sequel" to Saku PV (and that "Ringu-like twist" in PV is just band's statement in terms of society's effect towards increasing violence through means of media - and this is not my interpretation, but PV director's own ; even though I wouldn't suggest interpreting Saku without watching Kodou after that ) in terms of good "story PVs", the first pv that comes to my mind is L'Arc~en~Ciel's "Pieces", which is hands down one of the "plainest" PVs to me story-wise (you will get the whole imagery etc. right away) http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/L%2526%2523039%253BArc~en~Ciel---Pieces/e347d80506853d863c9a68b64e59c5a1 to add to Paradoxal's post, I think I should rather throw in Dir's "straightforward story PVs" ( a la "PVs that actually retell the lyrical content of certain song, or interpret it in metaphor-like way"), like for instance - very pro-life "Mazohyst of Decadence" (quiz: guess the lyrical topic) (NSFW) or very Requiem-y "Ain't Afraid to Die" - might look a bit cryptic at first due to various religious symbolism.

is pretty much a huge nod (with its obvious similarity) to (main melody, folks) they didn't credit that though, I guess?
  10. I wonder whether they had something special ( a la clothing or something like that) for second encore, considering that it has been awhile (or many fricking years) since they played kaika no Hibiki (that's an intro for Romance of Scarlet?!) + feminism/RoS set.
  11. Pretsy

STRIPPE-D LADY (aka La'cryma Christi's previous name) - Metamorphose VanessA - BM. Metamorphose Gackt - Metamorphoze (well, it counts!) Baiser - Metamorphosis etc.
  12. Pretsy

Lycaon - Jesus Luna Sea - Jesus Kuroyume - Jesus Dir en grey - Jesus Christ Rock 'n' Roll etc. etc.
  13. Pretsy

Lmao at most choices though. Like, yeah, Mejibray will be fine with "Porno Star"; Yuuki will definitely feel himself "comfortable" with Kiyoharu worship during "Rosario to Bara" But DISH and "Third Eyes Trial"? Liphlich and "Masquerade" (they deserved much better song to be covered tbqh)? But why are there no major artists? Or are we getting a sequel to this one soon?
  14. Pretsy

Now that I have checked the full version out too, I must say that yes, this is very Vandalize-like (or let's put it the better way -"Cosmic World meets Vandalize"). And guess what - unlike certain people, I prefer Gemini/"9"/Vandalize over their earlier albums (the thing is that A9 shows a lot more potential with their poppier approach tbh). So I am totally okay with this. ps. Alpha is quite boring - I cannot even remember anything else but White Prayer + Cosmic World (and parts of Eraser) out of it.
  15. A LULL IN THE RAIN sounds like Kiyoharu's earlier rendition of Maria...and what's MAD FLAVOR doing there? Very post-2010 SADS-y, I say. The rest sounds like Kiyoharu's leftovers. Yawn.
  16. Pretsy

Even though "-coreism" (let's call it that way) has plagued vk/"post-vk" music for a long time by for eg. switching complex, frilly instrumentals to somewhat monotonous chugginess with cacophonous arpeggios (you might already name a few bands who do that ~all the time~), I just happen to have a suggestion to give in terms of that. It might be pretty say, "generic" to certain people (it was the same for me at first), but experiencing it live and being bias-stricken at the same time made me feel otherwise. Ready? ...
  17. Pretsy

@paradoxal: it's "mister" jfc Not trying to sound harsh but I can hear some lousy attempts on thrash-ish riffs above...and that is not unfortunately my cup of tea.
  18. Pretsy

No one cares about DEGstania's agitation either, Will. Either way, the BGM in limited ed. DVD is apparently Kaoru's "latest" track (those who have been to FB know this already - I wonder if there are good Samaritans willing to share this instrumental piece in Downloads section ) - possible teaser for their future album, perhaps?
  19. Pretsy

Would've been better without Gazette-riffage worship in the midst of that exotic-ish riffing.
  20. Pretsy

http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/js/d/2014-01-22/ STU with its 4# spot in Oricon charts (daily?) I wonder how long it will stay there...
  21. Pretsy

Is that a ...7-stringed bass???!! edit: Funny "I love rock 'n' roll" reference btw, ha
  22. Pretsy

So, in case no one noticed, certain DEG song/interlude might be pretty much the only "vk" song with more than one sample... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sjww19nGiGA is basically (I took members' geeky (read old interviews, folks) interests into account here - consider those to be "possible half-facts" , if you wish) a) Beats are pretty much Rob Dougan's Clubbed to Death (but in much faster tempo, slow down Shinsou's beat a bit) and some "Amen Breaks" (youtube that, one of the most sampled hiphop beats ever) near the end b ) That "weird sound" played throughout the song is the slowed down version of beam sounds off some old Atari game c) It's highly speculated (at least old DEG shrine archives/Japanese wiki say so) that Kyo is the one who does "low-pitched spoken word" stuff here. But I bet they snippeted it off some other techno/OST-themed song as well...
  23. Pretsy

@Nekkichi: it's done by Keita Kurosaka, who did the PV for ASOM too, so yeah (come to think of it tho, ASOM PV was shown in many film festivals - I wonder what were the reactions to that)
  24. Pretsy

Unraveling PV is done by Hiroyuki Kondo (Visual Trap) so no, kinda too early to say that. edit: I think it's also the least probable case for them (as in leaving Kondo out of their game) because Kondo's strictly affiliated with Dynamite Tommy's league And this is where I stop, and let you guys make your own judgement about this matter.
