One single in three years is par for the course? D:

If arche had performed worse than expected, I imagine there'd be more pressure to release new stuff than just tour to bolster income.

I don't think fan thirst has gone anywhere... After they gave up the VK thing, the fans that have remained are pretty ride or die at this point. Dir could release an album of Kyo farting instead of growling/singing and I doubt their sales would tip much lol.

Oh, hell yeah, I'm not trying to say that "generic, derivative flavor of the month" bands haven't been a part of the VK scene since its inception or anything. I mean, hell, that sort of stuff is common in just about every music scene. For example, take some of the late '00s indie acts Pitchfork hyped up to hell and back (like Sleigh Bells, Wavves, Yuck, Surfer Blood etc) that have at this point basically almost entirely vanished from the public eye..

In my personal case it's just that this stuff doesn't connect to what I'm currently looking for sound-wise, both the saccharine pop rock & the brutal core music that seem to dominate among the shit-to-mid tier bands have pretty much never really been my cup of tea, so it's only natural that at some point one starts to gradually float away from the scene in that case tbh. I'm not gonna entirely ditch it tho, VK's played an important part in shaping my musical taste, just can't really be assed to listen to 50 more bands that desperately wanna sound like Dir en grey or Dezert or w/e when I can just listen to the real stuff

MERRY not ever pressing anything on vinyl is criminal. This applies to pretty much every good VK band, though.

I was thinking about this the other day. I don't think I have almost ever seen a vk band press anything on vinyl.

^ Damn, lots of huge names there. Too bad that your bro won't be able to come, but as you said life goes on. Enjoy the hell out of it!

Anyway, the new Nightbringer is bloody fantastic, holy shit. I'm afraid I'm gonna have a bad time making my end year list. I thought that 2017 would never top last year but here we are, with tons of amazing albums and we're not even in June.

Agreed on the new nightbringer. Absolutely slays. Many people are hyping it up it seems. Strongly considering on getting the vinyl

  6. I don't normally advocate for re-releases. But it would be really great if we could get special re-releases of their older albums like vulgar, kisou, macabre. The only way to get a physical copy of these is to spend 45 bucks on eBay for a supposed "official" release. I'm hoping at some point I can add all their albums to my cd collection without spending a fortune through a 3rd party source.
