What if Yoshiki decided to sign another band instead of Dir En Grey? Like, he could have went for any band. I wonder, what if he chose another band? How would they have progressed?
  2. The screams in "Mirror Mirror" by La'Mule sound like he's going "Meow Meow"

    Once heard, can't be unheard

  3. Himeaimichu

That can be true in an ironic sense though xD. Like, one can love the "Allstar memes", but hate the song to death xD
  4. Himeaimichu

I do care for some founding bands, because I love exploring, and while I love the 90s Vkei sound, I can't stand most of the bands Too many Kuroyume clones (or Dir En Grey clones as the newbs call them) In fact, Missa era Diru was a Kuroyume copycat. Also, I'll is a copy of a D=Sire song. Sorrynotsorry
  5. I haven't listened to Xaa Xaa much, but I must say I can really hear a lot of 90's influence in their song "Doshaburi No Kanojo."

Do they have any other 90's sounding songs?

  6. I like how "Under..." from Kuroyume sounds almost metal,
like, it sounds like most 90's Vkei alt rock songs, but they gave it such aggressive drums and decided to put a really aggressive acoustic guitar.

Ironically, it sounds like an upgraded version of the trend it started

  7. Moll'e Node is like the only KoteKei band I've seen use a 7 string guitar. (Unless someone can point out another one, which would be awesome)

    1. Zeus

      Zeus

hard to say since a lot of kote has been lost to time

    2. Zeus

      Zeus

@Komorebi = "kotekote" is over the top old school 90's aesthetics, sometimes with a modern twist

    3. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

@ZeusTrue, but most KoteKei bands play Gothic rock and Alternative Rock, not Dj0nt, so its very unlikely xD.

But if Moll'e Node uses one (and I could tell it was specifically an Ibanez 7 string), it's definitely possible another one could.

  8. So Vasalla is on the "Metal Archives". I thought the two people who ran it didn't accept Vkei bands because they're all "faggots" and "not true metal". I mean, Vasalla may play speed metal, but they ain't free from the crossdressing.

But I thought "fag metal" was "pseudo metal", according to them.

    Ah whatever. They're hypocrites

i see a lot of vk bands on that site all the time...

      Mamo

Yeah they're on their sometimes. The site is incredibly ambiguous about what is metal. Dir en grey still is for some fucking reason, but Kyo from deg is dafuq?

    3. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

Honestly, if you look at the discussion about Dir En Grey on that site, it's cringey. It's all a bunch of homophobia and "core isn't really metal"

  9. Uggh. Cringing at my old comments on Wagakki Band videos. I may still strongly not like them, but gah I look so closed minded. Just.. *Cringes and deletes comments*

So do anyone else here enjoy Kabuki theatre? If so, what is your favourite play? Or perhaps your favourite Kabuki song? Who is your favourite actor/lineage? Feel free to discuss here
  11. I feel like some labels spend WAY TOO MUCH on producing their bands.

Like, you shouldn't have to spend all that money processing vocals, especially if you have a good vocalist.

Also, sometimes, too much post production can ruin a band's sound

    1. Zeus

      Zeus

i reviewed it a few months ago and i wasn't a fan of it but that was more the boring composition than yuko's voice. since im' deaf to this stuff i'd be interested to know what ur ears hear.

    2. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

      Ok, I'll take a listen then~

    3. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

So so far, yes, there is metric ass ton of post production on Yuko's vocals on the EP. It's actually insulting to her vocal skills. That amount of reverb and post processing honestly isn't needed, and kind of drowns out her voice.

Again, f*ck Avex. They always manage to mistreat their artists in many ways, and this is just one. I think Yuko knows she's too skilled for this, but she probably doesn't have a say in the production of her own music

I think one album that really defines my time here is Memento Mori's first album, along with the EP that came after (Haikei Haranbanjou Hiyori). I play both at the same time generally because they really represent what Memento Mori was at the time. A new personality on the Vkei scene that came straight out of the small tokyo indie scene. They weren't your normal Dear Dolce band (definitely not Piece). These guys were much darker, and much heavier. They normally had traditional influences, but showed they weren't above making western style horror songs too. Normally, Shinjou Kasumi chose really crappy throwaway bands for his label, but I feel as if he got 3 choices right: Reload, Raddock, and Memento Mori. Both their first album, and the first EP, will always hold a special place in my heart. Why does it represent my time here? It was the original reason I joined, tbh xD
  13. Himeaimichu

So this isn't technically VKei, but these guys did pretty much influence a lot of VKei bands, but Ningen Isu once preformed a special concert where they did covers of their influences, such as KISS, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath (obviously) and Jimi Hendrix
  14. Himeaimichu

If it were up to me, I'd look for one of their early VHS's and buy that, since it's hard to find good rips of their early PVs on youtube (The only good rip I can find is Juujika Tono Tawamure) But if I had to choose between those two, I'd buy Corkscrew, because one of my personal favourites, "Rock And Roll", is on that. I mean, it's a raw Punk song with the chorus referring to a David Bowie song (Rock And Roll Suicide, except it's been changed to Suicide Rock And Roll)
  15. Himeaimichu

EP releases tomorrow in Japan I think.
  16. I'm such a hipster, that my favourite GazettE song is "Sentimental Na Onigokko"

    2. Spectralion

      Spectralion

I didn't even know that they on Matina in their early days X)

    3. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

@Spectralion Oh yeah, they were. They were signed to Eternal, which was owned by Yayoi, guitarist of La'Miss Fairy, and formerly of Mirage. In turn, Eternal was a sublabel of Matina.

Eternal also had Deadly Sanctuary, which had both Yayoi and Yuuga (who would go on to form Devil Kitty and we all know who signed to Rockstar Records (Also owned by Yayoi) when they came back), and Etcetera, which was the old band of Yukika, who now owns Ains, and was the first guy to sign R-Shitei and Alsdead.

So, they had some pretty important people on there xD

  17. Just saw a zodiac signs post that claimed Babymetal and Wagakki Band were VisualKei *Cringe*

The most I've seen in interviews is him saying about how he can kill Kyo with a pebble, which honestly, I laughed hard at because, um... you sure about that Kisaki? Kyo still may be short, but since you left La:Sadie's, he's been working out, whereas you're still skinny xD. I also know Kyo also sometimes talks about his hatred for Kisaki in interviews. But I couldn't care less what each have to say about eachother, as it's all immature bickering from two immature people. One is an alcoholic man-teenager with daddy issues and temper issues, and the other is an arrogant 40 something year old stuck in his 20's who is indecisive, doesn't know when to stop, doesn't know when to shut up, and possibly has some sort of god complex. I could go on about both, but you get my point. Neither are perfect people, and they're gonna hate eachother, and they're gonna keep being in their f*cked up state unless they get help, and I'd really love to see both get mental help, but that doesn't look like it'll happen any time soon, sadly.
  20. Himeaimichu

Now time to roast Noobs who know nothing about Kisaki xD "Kisaki is actually a girl" "I heard Kisaki rapes all his bandmates" "Kisaki played bass for free in La:Sadie's, and that's why he left. I know know it's true because I saw it mentioned in an article about Dir En Grey's history" "Kisaki and Yayoi now hate eachother, because of the scandal" yeah.. if that were true, they wouldn't still be following eachother on twitter, and interacting with eachother. "Riku from Phantasmagoria is a Kyo clone" Correction! He's actually a huge Kiyoharu fanboy "Kisaki is a bitch who should die in a fire and hasn't contributed anything to Vkei" And the other side "Kisaki is a Vkei God and is to be worshipped. He would never do anything bad"
  21. Himeaimichu

Omg, that reminds me of all the rumours involVing the reason why Kisaki left La:Sadies's xD. I've heard people say it was because he stole Kyo'a girlfriend, and others said it was because he "rubbed Kaoru the wrong way" (take that as whatever you want). I've also seen people who seriously think Kisaki did Meth in the 90s. Like, if he actually did drugs, he would look way older than the Diru boys. I mean, Kyo is aged so much due to self harm, alcohol and a past smoking addiction. I'm sure is Kisaki did drugs, especially method, he'd be much more wrinkly than Kyo. In fact, I might as well roast some newbies who don't know anything about Kisaki in the next post xD
  22. The only reason I consider Kuroyuri to Kage to be EroguroKei is because they're actually really inspired by Eroguro artists such as Suehiro Mario, and Edogawa Rampo. Also, they're influenced by Caligari and Inugami Circus Dan. However, I will say the term is often overused, and shouldn't refer to just any macabre band. Only ones actually influenced by Eroguro art

      Elazmus

I didn't know this about Gichigichi tbh apart from the subject matter I had no idea it was a reference! That's cool considering it was one of my favorites from their album - kind of still one at this time lol!

I'm really reminded of the internet a few years ago seeing anyone who talked about visual kei tried to identify sub genres unnecessarily XD

    2. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

Yeah, I remember that used to be big xD. I only ever use subgenres as a convenient way of classifying similar bands. Really though, it's all Vkei, and that's all it really is

  23. Remember kids, everything on Tanuki is 100% true and is a good primary source. Yes, kids, that's right. And remember, ever Vkei guy is gay, married to a woman, married to a guy, homophobic, and single, all at the same time!

Also, according to Fox News, CNN and MSNBC (Who we all know are also 100% True) recommend the best way to achieve longevity is to drink this substance called Cyanide!

    1. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

@KomorebiI usually take what they say with a grain of salt and some skepticism. However, I feel as if going out of their way to get into Vkei guy's personal business, or leaking nudes is just utterly wrong and needs to stop.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. The gossip can get quite funny too. Even though me and my friends end up roasting Vkei guys over simple rumors, it's just all fun xD

  24. Himeaimichu

Well, if possible, please do upload them xD. I'm really excited to listen to the full songs. And in all honesty, low recording quality doesn't bother me too much. I listen to a lot of low budget bands anyway (especially ones from the 90's) and I've listened to enough La:Sadie's demos to where I'm used to it xD
  25. Himeaimichu

"I get all my news from Tanuki, because it's definitely possible that Koyomi from Kuroyuri to Kage is gay, married to a woman, single, married to a man, got a woman pregnant, and is homophobic, all at the same time!" "What genre is Deluhi? They definitely aren't Vkei, I know that for sure" (Actually saw somebody say this) "Wait, Kaya is actually gay?" (I know it seems weird for a noobie to say this, as you'd assume that they'd assume every Vkei guy is gay, but I've seen a lot of Vkei noobies be surprised that there are actually some Vkei guys that are gay. IDK why, I guess because the ones that are surprised, previously listened to a lot of 80's glam, IDK.) "Wait, Miyavi is married, and has kids? I thought in Japanese music, you weren't allowed to date. I know AKB 48 isn't" "[Insert any Neo-OsareKei band here. UNiTE, newer An Cafe, etc.] is so heavy!!!" "Wait, this can't be an An Cafe song! It has screaming!" "Memento Mori is totally copying Kiryu. Look at the bass player!" Name a riff they copied then "Um... uh.. Oiran Chourou is about Oirans, which Oirantan by Kiryu is also about. I haven't heard either song though..." "If Grieva and GossiP are both copies, Kuroyuri To Kage is a copy band too! IDK which, but the lead singer looks like Karma from AvelCain, and Chiaki from Dezert!" (Oh if only they knew the connection between Dezert and Kuroyuri, and how the bands most likely bounce ideas off eachother xD) "Taihaitekikyou sou by Grieva totally sounds like Zan by Dir En Grey! I mean, listen to it, it's heavy as f*ck with tons of screaming, and fast drumming!" (By that logic, Neo Ark by Phantasmagoria is also a copy of Zan xD)
