there are two dudes on youtube i know who have been reacting to vk and jrock in general in some videos

the first dude just reacts to whatever people send to him it seems, meanwhile the 2nd dude does a bit of research on google and reacts to 2~3 videos(he already reacted to a bunch of other bands). i think it's really cool that they do this.

This is exactly how I feel. Except I see more often then not bands that try to grip onto relevance by releasing new stuff at lightning speed, and they usually aren't anything special. Usually causes me to not look forward to their next release because I just see it as a ploy to get more money in shorter amounts of time and pandering to the fans that don't give af about their music, just their looks...and that ain't me.

    Two things

Reality:  The upcoming Morrigan album is a good example. Any sort of romantic ideal you might have in your head about these guys just going out there to express themselves in sexy angry music and nais hairs and heavy makeup crumbles down when bands pull shit like this. Really releasing an album that's essentially a compilation shows a complete lack of vision, ambition and concern for their own image and legacy. The curtain has been pulled back and the money grubbing hackery is exposed in clear daylight. The profit margin unfortunately is part and parcel of visual kei, and it works to the scene's detriment.

The other thing is when these bands bust out the _traditional_ Japanese instruments to give a song some corny folk ornamentation. The worst recent offender I can think of was Avelcain. It wouldn't be as bad if the music actually treated the concept with some respect instead of hamming in a melody that sounds like it was composed for a TV advertisement about frozen chinese food. It's so fucking bad, like it's literally the same if a Finnish band played around with Kalevala image and dressed up in fucking furs and tar face paint, which is made all the more worse by the fact that there are bands that actually do that. For me personally the experience of seeing these bands is what a person from India ( pardon the generalisation, I know it's an infinitely diverse country ) would feel if he saw a band doing a concept album about the kamasutra while dressed up like Apu from the Simpsons.

This sounds criminally bad for having a Moran member on it. I don't think I'd have a problem with this if it didn't have a guy in the lineup who should be occupied with far better stuff.

I really want to like Kuroyuri to Kage's チョコレート階段, but that chorus makes me cringe so bad.

I mean, it starts off amazing. Gives me an old school KORN type vibe, and the vocalists soft echoed tone matches.
THEN THE CHORUS KILLS THE ENTIRE BUILDUP. Like wtf man?
Back to the buildup and solo part which again sound amazing, BUT THAT FUCKING CHORUS SCREECHES MY SOUL BRO LIKE OH MY GOD WHY?

Give this track to DEZERT, and let them show you how to make a proper fucking mashup.

Unpopular opinions, this is my cup of tea.

    Here I go...

Malice Mizer is overrated and boring. Moi Dix Mois is better. I get that Malice was a HUGE influence on VK and lauched Gackt’s career… but they bore me to death.
People moaning over MM’s disbandment and Hide’s death, when they’ve been listening to VK since 2004, are soooo stupid. You didn’t live it. Quit crying over a band you didn’t even follow while they were active.

Everything The GazettE released before Nil (or was Dim first) is crappy. Even half of Nil and Dim are crappy. Their mini albums are terrible, Ruki couldn’t sing and more than songs it was a jumble of sensless noise. I have gotten actual headaches listening to their earlier stuff and not even Deathgaze and Nocturnal Bloodlust combined have made my head hurt yet with their heavyness.
I’m judging quality solely on sound, not even going to touch lyrics or looks because I simply not care about a band looking edgy but sounding crappy. The new GazettE sounds way better, at least to my ears.

People who whine about VK being expensive and being “too poor” to buy a CD but spend a shitload of money on expensive VK-like clothing are cringe-worthy. “Yass, The GazettE is my favorite band in the world. I mean, I LOVE them. I WORSHIP them. I’d rape Ruki and if they disband I’ll suicide. What? Buy a CD? Nooo I download everything, I’m too poor” Says the fangirl who is wearing a $150 Sexpot Revenge shirt.
In my country (Chile, that long noodle in the South American map) there actually is a VK “scene”, for lack of a better English word in my mind, outside of the internet. There’s places for VK fans to hangout, you can even go to Blondie club and “dance” (headbang) to VK one or two nights a month. I’ve seen a shitload of fans who claim to be “the number one fan” of band x or y, wear expensive clothing, have money to get drunk once a week and smoke pot more often than not, yet are too poor to even consider buying their favorite album from the band they claim to worship so much. Are they on the scene because they enjoy the music or just to become popular for wearing Black Moral?

I don’t like Dir En Grey. I never liked Kyo’s singing. I’ve heard some of their albums twice in an attempt of giving them another shot… there’s no use.
I like Miyavi as a person waaay more than his music. XD I love what he does to bring Japanese rock to a more western audience, how he manages his personal life with his work, I follow him on social media and his daughters are the cutest thing out there. I just don’t listen to him

Someone mentioned types of voice and there was some sort of debate… I won’t get into compositions, but many bands sound similar because the vocalists have the same type of voice. When I first heard ViViD they sounded exactly like Alice Nine to me, same with the Lotus. Listening to more of their discography one comes to realize that they have indeed different sounds, but their vocalists do have the same type of generic voice you hear in so many other VK bands… Singers like Asagi, Juka and Sono do stand out because they have different voices from the average Japanese male. Another unpopular opinion: Kamijo’s voice in Lareine sounded like crap. And I’ve heard that in Versailles he got it… what’s the music equivalent of photoshop? Thing is, he doesn’t sound that great to me as he does for everyone else, though he does make good music XD

And I’ll rant a bit now.
Some people who claim everywhere they love a band but actually only like specific releases also get on my nerves. This one is a personal one. The Vice-president of the (unnoficial) D fanclub in Chile goes around spreading her undying love for Asagi, fangirling, running a fanpage and nagging me to translate every single interview and ameba post for her… and every release I ask her if she wants to buy the new CD with me and share shipping expenses and every single time she refuses and goes on and on about D’s musical quality decline (something I’ll not get into now) and how nothing will ever be at Tafel Anatomie’s level… and everybody on the community wonders why on earth she is going out of her way to keep a community active for a band she no longer likes instead of letting fans who actually are into the band’s current work step in for her. I know there are other people like that and I wonder if they are still on it because x bandmember is hot af or because they enjoy having a “position of power” over the rest of the fans.

ヴェルトロ (Veltro) or Vautre is a trained and fast hunting dog like a greyhound.
Veltro is practically fallen into disuse but was recalled by a famous prophecy that Dante explained at the beginning of the Divine Comedy, (circa 100-111 singing of Hell)

Caina, Antenora, Ptolomea and Judecca are related to Dante's Inferno :

Dante divides circle 9, the circle of treachery--defined in Inferno 11 as fraudulent acts between individuals who share special bonds of love and trust (61-6)--into four regions. Caina is named after the biblical Cain (first child of Adam and Eve), who slew his brother Abel out of envy after God showed appreciation for Abel's sacrificial offering but not Cain's (Genesis 4:1-17); condemned to a vagabond existence, Cain later built a city (named after his son, Henoch) that for certain Christian theologians--notably Augustine (City of God, book 15)--represented the evils of the earthly city. In the circle of the lustful, Francesca identified her husband (Gianciotto)--who murdered her and Paolo (Gianciotto's brother)--as a future inhabitant of Caina (Inf. 5.107). Dante's attention is here drawn to two brothers, the ghibelline Napoleone and the guelph Alessandro, who murdered one another because of a dispute over their inheritance (Inf. 32.55-60).

The second region, Antenora, is named for the Trojan prince Antenor. While the classical sources--notably Homer's Iliad--present Antenor in a positive (or at least neutral) light as one in favor of returning Helen to the Greeks for the good of Troy, medieval versions--histories, commentaries, and romances--view him as a "treacherous Judas" who plots with the Greeks to destroy the city. Dante places in this region those who betrayed their political party or their homeland.

In the third zone of circle 9 suffer those who betrayed friends or guests. Ptolomea is named after one or both of the following: Ptolemy, the captain of Jericho, honored his father-in-law, the high priest Simon Maccabee, and two of Simon's sons with a great feast and then murdered them (1 Maccabees 16:11-17); Ptolemy XII, brother of Cleopatra, arranged that the Roman general Pompey--seeking refuge following his defeat at the battle of Pharsalia (48 B.C.E.)--be murdered as soon as he stepped ashore. Dante displays his abhorrence of such crimes by devising a special rule for those who betray their guests: their souls descend immediately to hell and their living bodies are possessed by demons when they commit these acts (Inf. 33.121-6).

Judecca, named after the apostle who betrayed Jesus (Judas Iscariot), is the innermost zone of the ninth and final circle of hell. The term also hints at a manifestation of Christian prejudice--which Dante certainly shares--against Judaism and Jews in the Middle Ages: it alludes to the names--Iudeca, Judaica--for the area within certain cities (e.g., Venice) where Jews were forced to live, apart from the Christian population. Together with Judas in this region of hell are others who, by betraying their masters or benefactors, committed crimes with great historical and societal consequences. Completely covered by the ice--like "straw in glass"--the shades are locked in various postures with no mobility or sound whatsoever (Inf. 34.10-15).

Komorebi reacted to Valicious in Friends IRL and at internet - what's the difference?
There are a very few exceptions, but I feel that I'm able to have better conversations and be myself when I'm talking to people online. I don't have nearly the confidence when talking IRL about something of substance, and I usually end up tripping all over my words. Ideas seem to flow a lot easier when I'm typing than when I'm speaking.
I think there's something to be said for learning to 'connect' with someone online. If either of you move, the friendship and the way the both of you interact hasn't changed. I've had plenty of IRL best friends that fell out of touch when either of us moved away. Even with all the ways to talk online, they're heart just didn't seem in it unless it was face-to-face.
