Tanishi reacted to helcchi in What traditional Japanese melody is this Kiryu song and Anime ED based off?
@TanishiI'm not sure if it's a traditional Japanese melody, but both tunes seem to be inspired by the chorus of the pop hit "Natsu Matsuri" by Jitterin' Jinn which has been covered by countless artists.

Still listening to their Oboreru Sakana cover fairly regularly, the guitar work is just so incredible especially towards the end of the song, it just feels so satisfying. Aie's a great guitarist but I think he's at his best when he has someone inspiring/pushing him, and Kazuma is doing a great job at this which is probably why this project is just that level above Keel even though Ryo's a better vocalist.

I'm surprised to see people hating on the studio version of Utafumi. It's a really catchy song, has a slight progressive edge and it's mixed a little better then this single (still far from good). The harsh vocal sections are especially good. This song on the other hand sounds like c-grade Arche, it's just boring and has the worst production I've heard from these guys in a long time. Ash is alright but the title track is their worst single track yet imo, even below Sustain the Untruth.

There's been lots of great stuff this year so far. DOF's Unintelligible won me over the most with it's catchy, technical, frantic and hugely creative songwriting. It's up there with insert memory as one of the most creative VK songs of the decade imo especially the '1234567 123456 .... 123 121 YOKU DEKIMASHITA' part. The whole album is filled with great tracks (like the one's listed here) though I do agree it's a little bit weaker then their other stuff which is essential listening.
Kizu's track was also fantastic, just heavy, catchy and really high energy and LIME's performance is top notch. Can't wait for an album.
貴方だけを壊して飾ってみたい was my favorite track off Chanty's album and it's nice to see it on the list. There were some weak tracks on the album but it was solid (but they butchered m.o.b imo).
IIII-Ligro's album has potential to be one of the most interesting albums of the year and that 爆烈ストーム song was nice. I need to check those out.

And that Golden Bomber song is just too relatable. Nothing beats laughing at how much life sucks. I didn't expect that ending either. I guess it's time to spin it a few more times.

Also would have included Buck-Tick's Salome -femme fatale- off their new album which is absolutely fantastic. And the first track off Pura's new album was cool too:

I live in Australia and shipping costs are really expensive so its hard to justify buying releases unless it's on itunes or something.
But if the vk piracy scene died I would just buy the (relatively few) releases I'm interested in and share them on slsk (this is assuming jpopsuki is dead too). I'm lucky enough to live in a first world country so I would be able to do this. The main problem would be live limited releases which would completely fade out of existence to the West (or should I say more then they are now).

The other problem would be there would be less discussion about bands/releases because many people wouldn't be able to listen to them and it would be harder sorting the bad from the good.

The only thing I can really say negative about this tune other than the intro is the band’s reliance on that specific half-step chord progression they play in legitimately every single heavy song they’ve ever done. At 43 seconds in the song it’s as clear as day as the band strums (I believe) G-F#. It’s a staple in most Gazette songs which indicates a lack of originality; but here they play it in a way where at least it’s not 100% identical to the rest of their output, maybe just 90% identical.

A lot of bands, especially Western metal core bands like Bring Me the Horizon have used that progression before, but I’ve never seen a band rely on it so much as this band.

Tanishi got a reaction from Kira_Uchiha in How do you guys deal with depression?
For meditation there's lots of different types but they all centre around the same thing. Just pick a type and google a tutorial for the type that catches your interest. It's not complicated you just have to remember the general idea is to clear your mind of thoughts. https://visualmeditation.co/7-types-of-meditation/

As for kaizen its a really simple philosophy the key being when starting a project start embarrassingly small. ie if you wanted to start going to the gym, instead of buying a gym membership the first day you would do literally one rep with a dumbbell. This is a good video too:

My way of dealing with it was to develop an iron will through meditation, will strengthening exercises and the Japanese concept of 'kaizen' (seriously google this). Now at every moment of the day I am using these concepts for working on ways to make my life better and avoiding thinking about any negatives aspects of my life. Right now I am learning Japanese, writing a book, and going to the gym which are my three main hobbies. The hardest part is at work because work sucks but I am using willpower to apply for other jobs and meditation has helped trained my mind to avoid thinking of work outside of work hours.

I guess it is just distracting myself but that's how most adults live anyway and if that distraction can lead to a positive outcome then it is definitely a good thing.
I know this different from how most people deal with it but the first step is to work out if your depression is a chemical imbalance or caused by your life sucking. If its the former I don't have much advice except see a professional.

This is coming from a guy who was a NEET for over a year and has been depressed for years. Since about June I have been mostly happy.

I've been saying since reincarnation, they are absolutely THE flagship VK band, and if there's anyone who can extract anything different from this cesspool scene full of bad deg copies and bleep blopy whiny bands, it's them.

and yuya has balls the size of the moon, name another band who would choose such an odd structured/tempo song to be an album lead song? Fuckin VK don't deserve these guys, hoping for a major deal to come their way soon, that may allow them to conquer new audiences

I've ALWAYS wondered how a 20 something kid with average past bands got to start his own label as soon as Syndrome called it quits. He must have made some serious connections whike working with Kisaki.
He's refused to work for PSC at least twice and he even told Avex to go shove it once... hell, he's close friends with Hajime Okano and his family.

He said his (now deceased) aunt supported him a lot when he moved to Tokyo to start D and GCR. I am pretty sure his uncle is well connected and loaded.

I wouldn't say D is super popular in Japan but they are quite respected in the scene, more amongs bandomen than gyas, surely.
