Damn, I didn't expect news this soon. No one could have predicted the single's artwork would look like that. Kyo's new look is bizarre and awesome. I wonder if either concept will tie into a new video.
 
The next two months are going to drag horribly. Setting expectations low is going to be tough.

Quite a clean photoshoot that's somewhat at odds with the current photo on the DEG homepage. They all look great. Toshi still rocking that kilt, determined as always. Die has a WTF look which is pretty funny. Interesting how Kyo's MACABRE-era piercings are still so visible in strong lighting. Shinya's role seems to be that of a man trapped in a kind of visual/not visual androgynous limbo. And Kaoru looks like he threw a pile of velvety shawls over himself mere moments before stepping on set (he looks more awake in his portrait, though).
 
The single comes out two months tomorrow (although I don't expect to receive it until a month after that). I expect we'll start to see cover art sometime in the next few weeks and a 15-20 second clip shortly thereafter as per usual.

I honestly don't care about technique. Dir en grey has never been technical, even if they pretend to be. They're about expressing passion. As long as they continue to put as much intensity and effort as they do into each performance and don't become indifferent to the music they produce, I for one will continue to support them.

When you multiply taking one or two pictures with the amount of people in the audience, it's an instant "sea of cameras."
 
I'd rather spend my time dancing and headbanging than taking a few shitty pictures I will never watch again. 

Yeah, not being allowed to take pics/record is a shitty rule and it should not be enforced. BUT, I really hate the "sea of cellphones" in some concerts... Dude, I want to watch the show, can you please get your fucking cellphone out of my way?

I like how they split it up:
-people who want just the music
-people who want the music but only a little bit of dvd content
-people who want the music and all of the dvd content
-people who want the music and all of the dvd content in high definition 

Insta-ordered. Unlike sukekiyo's ANIMA single, this one is actually affordable, and it looks like there's more or less the same amount of content for about £70 less.

Love or hate any member of the band, they all contribute in some way to the beast that is Dir en grey. None of them are replaceable. I think at some point or another, they've all had weak moments, but when they make music together, there's no denying that magic happens. It's unfortunate that the atmosphere they can conjure in the studio is hard for them to replicate live (especially DSS). That's one of the reasons I want them to strip back a bit and make an album that is *just* them, raw and ready with less of the deep, layered production they've had on the last few releases.

I usually instabuy all music that's Dir en grey/Kyo related but the price of this thing (and ARCHE at Budokan) is just ridiculous. This is like Gackt-level expensive. Does it come with a Kyo body pillow or something?

I don't think it's bad at all. It's definitely a nice break from the gloom that DEG spiralled into in the DSS era. There's a mix of darkness, beauty, complexity, and strangely, playfulness. We haven't had fun songs like Cause of Fickleness and Chain Repulsion for quite a while.

MARROW actually turned me off the band for a few months the first time I heard it. I wasn't a big metal fan back then, and its raw, unrelenting aggression confused and shocked me. I had to give it another couple of shots before the album clicked with me.

I feel like they're already half-way there at least. There have been various smatterings of it recently (adding the break of Reiketsu Nariseba to that list) as well as the LOS AWKIS Folklore mix of VANITAS. They probably won't drop their rock band setup any time soon, especially as they've been favouring a much heavier sound. I can definitely see it happening more, just restricted to b-sides and remixes.
 
Personally, I wouldn't mind if they went and did something similar to MARROW; simpler songs recorded while on tour. The raw emotion in that album is something that imo was diluted in the heavily processed studio recordings of ARCHE and DUM SPIRO SPERO. Doesn't necessarily have to be extremely aggressive to be good. I guess we'll see in July how their sound has progressed.
 
As a side-note, I hope their next album is due for a Holiday 2016 release and not over a year after this single. I'm still confused that they stuck Hageshisa on DSS even though that single came out almost two years prior.
