  1. Not really special but memorable and in memorandum: That time the dude from Merry Bad-End grabbed me by the throat during gyakudai. Guess he was caught up in the moment? Seemed to feel bad later and tossed me a water bottle that I passed on to one of his devoted fans.

If I'm not mistaken, he played drums at RUIDO K4 for 『THE☆WORLD subliminal show first』under Yuutarou, so I'm honestly not sure if he'll keep his word on that. Could just be wishful thinking though. That is, unless he meant that he would never become an official member and would only do supporting.

Idk, but Meto/Yuutarou playing for DADAROMA is a cool concept. He's a pretty skilled drummer too imo.

He did, and it’s the second thing he meant - sessions, yes, he’s fine doing those - actually doing a band, no.

I mean I guess it’s not out of the question that he could change his tune, but...

I firmly believe Tokyo in Tulsa is a curse. Every band that performed there (DaturA, Meteoroid, Avanchick) ended up disbanding shortly after when they were seemingly doing great, so I wouldn't be surprised if Ice decides to retire or some shit while on the plane back to Japan. lmao rip

That’s why they went with Ice; less chance of breaking up a solo act.

  4. I actually didn’t think roadster was that bad. I feel like Genki’s voice shines more there than anywhere else on the single. They’re still growing into this dual vocal dynamic; from what I’ve heard about the lives from friends (still got about a month before I can judge for myself), it is moreso Koichi driving the shows, but he looks to Genki a lot for direction when it comes to singing. So I’m interested to see where this goes when Koichi gets more comfortable including the role, and if Genki will step to the forefront more in the future.

It’s not Mejibray, and it’s definitely not going to fill the hole Mejibray left behind. But even if I’m not as invested in 8P, I don’t hate it. I just want to see where this road is going to lead and how far I’ll follow it.

Well, then at least the vocalist can’t get pissy with him.

Is he just a 0.1g no gosan fan, or does he just love the scene?

Pretty sure he just loves the scene, Gosan wasn’t at the event I went to!

    And a T-shirt for 6000¥ ...

    That's worse!

I mean I agree that the parka is hella expensive, but to be fair it’s not a regular t-shirt but a big tee. When Mejibray sold those in 2016, they went for the same price.

It does blow my mind a little that they already released new merch, but judging by the logo of the band, maybe it’s not that surprising that they’re as much about fashion as music? Idk.

I honestly just want to hear the rest of the single.

  7. I’m just glad this black listing doesn’t extend to Tower Records for events, which I mean I hoped for as much since it’s not exclusively a vkei store. Here’s hoping for more of those being announced in the future.

As much as I was thrown off initially, I’m less jarred now and I still plan to see them. I wasn’t feeling Mejibray until I saw them live, so I think in my case it’s only fair to give them a proper shot.

I was about to post this. He looks like someone was aiming a gun at his head and told him to look happy and dance.

The autotuned vocals are destroying me, but at least the music sounds more creative than the very uninspired "super star".

I mean I say what you’re saying but to be fair he does that side-eye thing a lot. Like a LOT a lot. It just seems like a quirk of his.

well, the part where they were blacklisted from venues came straight from the dudes themselves at their first show. it's not beyond the pale to think that this extends to other parts of the MEJIBRAY brand when they can't even rent the fucking venues(!), the most basic component of band activity that isn't actually associated with the band's image. of course it's still speculation that can't be proven unless some tsunagari has LINE convos to dump, but it's not a total asspull -- this is pretty much the accepted version of events in jp fan communities, and this isn't the first time a band's label has held parts or all of a band's branding hostage.

regardless i'll be waiting for some sort of article from a known Japanese music publication that mentions 8P-SB at all, and i'll be waiting even longer for one that mentions them in the same breath as MEJIBRAY in the same way MiA's new project has been reported.  🙈

Oh yeah I’m not doubting that part at all, I’d heard the same thing. I’m just further speculating on the pop angle and that is more or less me spewing out thoughts about reasons why they might’ve taken the direction they dod beyond Tsuzuku being an Arashi stan. I really thought your point about the lack of media coverage was right on, I hadn’t even noticed until you said anything about it.

he's banned from using Tsuzuku lmao, same with koichi using "koichi" and not 恋一

they can't use the MEJIBRAY name at all either -- it's easy to brush this off as just not wanting to associate your new project with your old project but it would make a lot more sense if Japanese news articles listed them as ex-MEJIBRAY, right?
but wait, there's a complete lack of articles on Japanese music news sites about 8P-SB. weird considering MEJIBRAY was a big deal, hm...

when you get blacklisted you get blacklisted hard.

I almost hypothesized that the reason they went pop was because so much of the stuff Tsuzuku did for VanessA went into Mejibray, and at the risk of self-plagiarizing or coming too close to his own sound, he just opted to go the polar opposite direction to spare himself the trouble until things cool down. But this is a lot of speculation without anything concrete to back it up, lol.

Actually yes. MEJIBRAY Company president is rumored to be from Yakuza and he's one of the big bosses of Visual Kei industry now.

Since Koichi and Tzk apparently had some problems with him (remember Koichi stop playing the bass and showing his middle finger in direction of their boss in the end of their concert), yes, they're in blacklist and probably can't do a Visual Kei band anymore. That's what this song is about.

On yesterday concert they said that CreatO was the only live house that let they play.

You know, I know we can kind of piece the story together here and there, but I really wish we’d could just simply know what happened to Mejibray - and I know the involvement of yakuza is part of why. Ugh.
