  1. Not expecting the old tracks to benefit from being remastered. Especially anything from the last five to six years that has shitty mastering to begin with. You ain’t lying. Shinya has the worst drum tone. It’s the most digital and lifeless sound I’ve heard from a drum kit.

I don’t care if WtD is number 34 on top 100 Japanese rock albums list; I don’t like it.

I’m so sick of the Dir en grey “wall of noise”. I wish they would take notes from Opeth and go analog so I can actually HEAR WHAT EVERYONE IS PLAYING! like seriously what do mixers do these days? Slide all the knobs to the same level and leave for the day? Where’s the tone? Where are the textures? It’s all so flat and sterile.

Why the bloody fuck is Beautiful Dirt on a best of album? Is it a crowd favorite I’m not aware of?
  5. He had no choice but to cut it after how fucked it was a few months ago.
  6. Kaoru mentioned they often don’t understand Kyo’s Japanese pronunciation, with the most recent example being during group vocal recordings they thought Kyo was saying “sei sei sei” but it was “kakusei kakusei kakusei” and Kyo was just like “yeah just say it like I did please. Mystery solved. And yeah, Kyo was pronouncing “spark” way better almost 15 years ago. Wtf. Most of the images in that third teaser looked like they were ripped from a karaoke monitor.

They don’t. And that’s my point.

Luv sounds like it could have come from Nightmare to be honest.

Luna Sea already ripped off their own songs for piece of a broken heart. Sounds like a mash up of Gravity and Kiss. It seriously could have been an outtake from Lunacy.

I’ve never heard anyone criticize the production of Immortalis, as it generally sounds better than any DEG album out there as far as sound mixing goes. Problem with Immortalis is a lot of the tighter and more focused songwriting is in the front half of the album, leaving the remaining half sound a lot more meandering. Almost like those songs weren’t finished and the band hadn’t been together long enough to get all the pieces locked together. Thats why Adoratio is so great. Aside from the top notch songwriting, it sounds like the band is one unit now. It’s a group effort, whereas in their early material you could hear a song and be like “oh yeah, Takumi definitely wrote that one”.

I noticed the similarities as well. There was another short lived VK band called Vajra I think? They were practically covering DEG songs. I remember one just straight up being Reiketsu Nariseba.

Can’t imagine that was a serious suggestion. Would be disturbingly ironic though considering the lyrics.

Shout out to Yuchi and Mika for being one of the tightest rhythm sections in the business right now. That stone cold groove in Hakudaku is killer, and also that disturbingly sexy swagger in mannerism na tsumetai souretsusya.

I literally have no idea what bands are buddies, I was just making a joke. Would bands that are DEG’s seniors be on a tribute album?
  15. Saishu

    That’s a drum solo?
  16. Saishu

Ride the Beat, Ride the Dream does not belong in here. Did audio files get mixed up with Sugizo’s solo stuff or what?

Listening now. So far The Luv is pretty cool and Yamibi is fucking awesome. Too bad it sounds like nobody bothered to mix this album. It sounds like shit.

When I listen to Keel I can’t help but think “why isn’t deadman still a thing again?” i mean, the sound is still there. We just need Mako behind the mic.

I feel like Dir en grey doesn’t have any friends. Satsuki would probably be on it though.

It just hit me that there will eventually be a Dir en grey tribute album, so naturally my brain started rattling with what artists would be on it. We’ve already heard Merry cover Schwein no Isu, R-Shitei did Yurameki, and Mejibray did Cage. It’s an exciting prospect, but also worrying, because I expect a ton of newer DEG derivatives to do little with whatever material they choose. What I want is for Sukekiyo and Decays to make appearances, and then DEG themselves do a self cover of Garden and just mash it to a pulp.

I think a lot of these eBay and Amazon Marketplace sellers just throw these ridiculous prices on their items and hope some sucker will fall for it. There’s always a possibility that someone just doesn’t know any better.

Jeezus, and it’s not even the limited edition.

Did his Gackt ver. 1.5 not work out? does he have an actual band now or is he still going to tour with a boom box?
